Quilting Bees Quilts

A Busy Week

A Finished Quilt

I am super bad about piecing together my bee blocks after I receive them.  I should share a picture of my bee block stack sometime–it’s a bit silly.  But, I did finish my Red & Aqua Bee Quilt–you can see a peek of it up there.  I want to wait for a better picture taking day to get some more shots.  We had a crapload of snow today–schools are closed–and it is not a picture taking sort of day.

I’m also staying on schedule with the Single Girl Quilt Along which meant sewing all my little template pieces into quarter rings.

I also finished up this nifty little block for March in the VIBeesKatie is up for March and she sent some fun Anna Maria Horner “Innocent Crush” Fabrics and asked for any kind of star block.

VIBees March Block

This star block is a variation of Squire Smith’s Choice.  The original pattern is a 6″ paper pieced block–I resized it to finish as a 12″ block and I chose not to paper piece it.  I’m getting a little bit ahead of the game for March so that I can work on some other projects that I have been wanting to get to do. =)

  • That completed quilt looks so cheerful and fresh!

  • Oh, I love the block you made for me! It’s fantastic.

  • Love the VIBee’s block. All the blues together are great.

  • Every picture here just makes me want to say “it’s magically delicious!”

  • YUM!!!

  • Congrats on finishing your Red & Aqua Bee quilt! I just realized that your photo actually shows the block I made you! Looks great!

  • I love that red and aqua together. Definitely going to have to make a quilt in those colors!

  • Very nice!! Love the quilt and I especially love your VIBee’s block. Oh shucks…I love all the things you post! :o)

  • Your single girl quilt is going to be fabulous! Can’t wait to see more 😀

  • The stripy border fabric looks great on your finished quilt. I looked at the flickr photos of the Single Girl Quilt Along. The circles look like a real challenge.

  • I love the striped border on your turqoise and red quilt. It certainly brings everything together. Loving the colors in your Single Girl’s Quilt.

When I clicked on the pattern for Squire Smith’s Choice I noticed that the blocks that you have in the four corners, were to have been in the middle of the star! While lovely as it is, it would just make more sense to have it so that the star really pops!!

Just part of sewing, unsewing happens!! Would love to see the block once it has been corrected!!

    • Thanks so much! I purposely switched the orientation in the Squire Smith block so that it make a star rather than a pinwheel. While the original block was cute–a star was what I was after–amazing how different a block can look from such an easy switch!

  • Goodness – your binding is perfection. Enjoy the finished quilt!

  • All of your projects are so pretty. I love the red & aqua quilt.
