International Stash Busting Bee Block #2

So, here’s the 2nd block for the International Stash Busting Bee (from here on out referred to as ISBB–it’s just too long to type out every time!). The fabrics that I received were the bear fabric in the middle of the block and the green tree top fabric. I had a great time with this block–I love the red with it which was a great suggestion from my mom (thanks mom!). I had the perfect wood grain fabric for the tree trunks (really, who has wood grain fabric??). Ryan, the hubster, suggested I make him a wood grain quilt–doesn’t get much more manly than that. Just you wait Ryan, if I make it, you must use it. =)

International Stash Busting Bee Block #1

So, I have stumbled across the world of quilting bees–12 ladies, 12 months & 1 quilt for each. Each month is a different person’s month–they send out their fabric(s) and the other 11 ladies make a block and send it back. For the stash busting bee that I am in, each lady sends a small piece of fabric to everyone and we pull from our stashes to make the block.

The first fabric I received couldn’t have worked any better for me:

The fabric in the forefront is the fabric that was sent to me–the rather embarrasingly large stack in the back are fabrics from my stash and these aren’t even all of them that coordinate. We were supposed to create a 12.5 in. block utilizing either pinwheels or stars & here’s what I came up with:

I just had to add the border and then it was all finished. I’m not sure why but sometimes it takes me the longest time to get the border added onto quilts–I have two more quilts just waiting on the borders and then they’ll be finished as well. You’ll notice this is another Heather Bailey fabric line–I love that gal!

Pop Garden Quilt Along Quilt Top Finished

So, I have had this little beauty finished for over a week now and just needed to get my behind in gear and share pics. I have my binding fabric on the way and then it will be off on the way to the quilters. I get a little bit slack sometimes about my backing fabric–I really hate working with large pieces of fabric & backing fabric usually tends to be too big!! I am hoping I can find some nice wide fabric so I won’t need to do any backing sewing. I think I’m gonna have my quilter do the binding as well so, means when my package arrives back home to me I will have a nice finished quilt.
