Moda Block Heads Block 19

Compass Point

Welcome to Moda Block Heads Block 19 brought to us by Brigitte of Zen Chic.

You will find the pattern for this block, Compass Point, on Brigitte’s blog here.  And just a reminder, all of the previous round 3 blocks so far can be found on the Round 3 archives here.

I used a scrappy, softer mix of my fabrics and really like the freshness of these colors.  These blocks have been so much fun to make.  But really, it’s the Moda Block Heads community that is so much fun to be a part of. =)  It is always so much fun to see your blocks each week..some from this round, some from previous rounds in a variety of pretty fabrics.  We almost have a mini quilt show each week in the Facebook group!

I hope all of you are doing well and staying healthy.  I’ve really appreciated the online community of quilters that I’ve gotten to hang out with here, on Facebook, and on Instagram--it is such a special community we are all a part of. =)  Here’s an online hug to all of you–from one fabric lover to another! =)  I appreciate all of you!

I wanted to share one last thing with you guys today.  My monthly $5 pattern is Cotton Frock:

It’s a fat quarter friendly quilt and for this month, is just $5 for the pattern.  I have it available in both Paper and PDF versions in my shop.  It’s made using Canning Day fabrics which are in quilt shops right now.

We have been able to start visiting our local quilt shops using proper precautions and it is so nice to have the option to visit.  If you are able to, support your local quilt shops–whether that is in person, via phone, or online, they will appreciate it!

Be back Soon! Corey

I really like the Cotton Frock pattern and know it will be beautiful in any of your lines. I have a long time friend who loves civil war and blue and I think this might be just the pattern to use for a birthday quilt for her. I haven’t convinced her to love your lines—YET. Be Safe and know how important your blog is to all of us.

Thank you so much much Pam!–I think it would be such a fun project in Civil War fabrics. The pattern is traditional enough to look beautiful in a wide variety of fabrics. Hope you and your family are doing well!

Hi Corey! I just love all your fabric lines but I’ve been late to like them. I used to be a purely civil war, Thimbleberries, Kansas Trouble Quilters & Kim Diehl fan. Not anymore. Little by little I’m liking the brighter, clearer colors & florals. I was NEVER a floral person. I’m getting there tho I am very particular about the types & colorations of florals I’ll purchase. Yours are definitely in my “yes” column. I also love your use of gray in so many of your quilts — especially as a background. Do you often use a gray solid or only small gray prints? If you use a solid, is it a Moda Bella Solid & can you tell me the name of number of it because I just love it. Thanks for all you do! And, YAY that quilt shops are starting to open again. I’m in TN and ours are just starting to open, most with limited hours. Take care & stay healthy!

When I first began quilting I used a lot of Kansas Troubles fabrics and I made a table topper for my Mother-in-Law using Thimbleberries fabrics. I still like such a variety of fabrics! I get asked a lot about the grays I use. I use Moda Bella Solid in Etchings Charcoal as well as Etchings Slate a lot. Etchings Charcoal is the darker of the two and they are both very warm grays. The numbers are 9900-170 & 9900-171. I use Etchings Stone when I want a lighter, warm gray which is 9900-178. Also, at the top of my blog, I have a tab “Bella Solids Matching Information” where I list the various Bella solids that match any of my lines if you ever wonder about any other colors!

I am looking for an alternate block recently that I missed the pattern for. It is probably a 4″ block with one flower, stem and two leaves, pieced. To make an 8″block I would use 4 of them. I can’t remember who printed that block. Do you know and can send me the name of person or the pattern. Thank you.

Hey Friends!--I'd love to hear from you. =)
