New Studio Update!

Happy Saturday friends!

In today’s video, I am sharing studio progress from the old studio to the new, answering viewer questions, and making sure that everyone knows how to navigate to the description box below a video.

Next Saturday we kick off the Cali & Co. mystery block of the month. Be sure to stop back here for the free block pattern. Next Saturday’s video will include both a chat about cutting as well as a block tutorial. You can subscribe to my YouTube channel so you don’t miss out on the fun! See you next week. Corey

I had asked where you got your shirt you had on when you filmed your first video in your new studio. It was black with like stars all over it, maybe fleece, idk

QUESTION: So excited about the upcoming BOM Mystery quilt and my question relates on what you think is the best way to store blocks for a long term project. When I started quilting many years ago, most blocks were small, so there was no problem finding some type of container that they would fit in. It seems that a lot of the newer quilt patterns utilize larger blocks, so I would be interested in hearing how you store yours. Thank you so much for your interesting and informative videos!

First I will say I Love Love your Fabrics and patterns. But I ordered the Barn Star #6 pattern. I don’t like that it came on one piece of paper. It could have at least been on three pieces front and back.. Its Too SMALL for my eyes .. I’m going to have to try to get it reprinted bigger somewhere.

    • Corey says:

The lower price point of the Barn Stars is due to it being a smaller pattern (less printing). However, the font size is the same size as used in some of my larger booklet style patterns. I like being able to offer some patterns at a lower price point but I’ll keep your comment in mind.

    Corey,
Your videos are so very informative. Thank you for sharing your knowledge! I’d like to enter the drawing for the fat quarters too!

Hi! I am confused. The list on your video which contains the materials needed for you mystery BOM for 2025 has different item numbers from the fabrics on Fat Quarter Shop. ie. your list says “29194-21” backing fabric and is shown as a blue with red cherries. I didn’t find that number at all. I did see it in the images of the whole fabric line. I saw 29190-21 which was a cobalt flower dot..?
This same problem with your listed fabrics 29190-12 was 29191-12 on FQS site. What am I doing wrong?

    • Corey says:

Hi! It looks like FQS may be out of 29194-21 (blue with red cherries) and 29190-12 (it’s a different fabric than 29191-12). I don’t see either of those prints still in stock on their website.

help! I have two identical layer cakes and I don’t know what to do with them. I want to make large quilt maybe king size. Any suggestions?

  8. Polly Moore says:

Corey, I just recently acquired two jolly bars of your Sunwashed fabric line. Watching your video this morning made me think that one of your large floral flannels would make a great back for a quilt. Which colors of the new flannel line coordinate with the sun washed fabric line?

  9. Hillary Lilly says:

Hi Corey – QUESTION Your new studio is coming together nicely. It does take a lot of time and planning to make such a big move. I just wanted to ask – do you have to wash your flannel line before sewing. I have heard that flannel shrinks and can actually change the measurements of what you make. I do not prewash- I use the shout color catchers and I put white vinegar in the rinse cycle. That is supposed to set the dyes in the fabric. I only once had a problem with Red Batiks, I believe. I have tried to sharpen my seam rippers, but it only lasted a few times and I felt not worth the effort, so I just bought another one.

Your new studio is looking great! Thanks for sharing your knowledge of quilting. The Q&A is often helpful too. I look forward to watching your video every Sat. What a wonderful giveaway of all those fat quarter bundles! 180 fat quarters would make an amazing stash of fabrics. Keep doing what you do Corey!

Thank you for the giveaways you do. It is so helpful for a newbie like myself. The fleece Hoodie you had on during the Jan. 4 video was super cozy looking. Hope your unpacking is going well.

Cory: At a time when you have better things to concentrate on than providing us with a video, thanks for giving us the tour of setting up and a peel onto your new home. I am amazed at all the shelves and storage spaces you have. . . could it be a woman who designed all the sensible storage spaces?! LOL. I always love to watch you and always seem to glean something new from each one. Keep up the good work and good luck with the move. With my husbands career we moved 13 times in 14 years and it is a huge undertaking.

When does the Cali mysteryBOM begin?

  16. Teresa W says:

Hi Corey! I, too, have my stack of Cali & Co ready to go! Will the blocks be released on the 3rd Saturday of each month this year since we get block one on Jan 18?

  17. DOROTHY G. HANSON says:

The number for the border of the mystery quilt is wrong. There is no 29190-12. Maybe it should be 29191-12? That is what I ordered.

    • Corey says:

The number is correct (29190-12) and that’s the border fabric that I’ll be using. 29191-12 is another print in the Cali & Co. collection but still a fabric with the same color background as 29190-12 and would be pretty. =)

  18. Bonita Cruickshank says:

Can’t wait to start the BOM. Will you post the quilt requirements, please. Love your fabrics and videos.

  19. Shannon B. says:

Thank you Corey for all that you do for us. I so enjoy your videos. My Cali & Co fabric is starched and ready to go. For a seam ripper I bought a Tula Pink seam ripper a few years ago. Whenever the blade needs replacing, I purchased a box of Surgical Blades off Amazon and replace as needed. Easy peasy. Keep up the great work! Love the new studio footprint!

Hey Friends!--I'd love to hear from you. =)
