New $5 Pattern of the Month/Sharing My MBH blocks

Tulip Market Quilt

I am sharing the June $5 pattern of the month a day early. I’ve decided to offer my Tulip Market quilt as the $5 pattern for June.

Tulip Market is a jelly roll friendly quilt that finishes at 68″ x 83″. I’m chatting about this quilt over on today’s YouTube video if you’d like to have a watch.

My original quilt was made many years ago using Flower Mill fabric. I mocked up a couple options below that show it in fabrics that are in quilt shops currently.

First up in Abloom:

I thought that I was really going to like it in Abloom but for this particular quilt pattern, I don’t prefer the dark gray included in the flower tops. If I was going to make this quilt using Abloom, I would purchase a few extra 1/8 yard cuts of fabric so that I could swap out those dark grays. It just feels too contrast-y too me. =) So, then, I mocked it up using Cali & Co.

Now this I think is very pretty. I first tried it above with the flower tops all in one fabric. I hadn’t ever played around with using just one fabric for the tops and I think it’s very pretty! I had mocked up all yellows a couple years back…so you can see that scrappy, one color is very pretty too.

Then, I decided to play around a bit using scrappy Cali & Co. This is also a very pretty option:

It’s a pattern that looks so pretty in many different fabrics. I could have kept playing around a while longer!

You’ll find the Tulip Market pattern in my Etsy shop for $5 in either PDF or Paper versions for the month of June.

This week, I also completed my Moda Blockheads blocks for the week.

Last week in the video, I chatted about my fabrics and setting plan…and here are those first two blocks.

You can download the Regatta block instructions (the block on the right) here.

For my panel block, I cut the panel motif at 7″ square. The side borders were cut at 1 3/4″ x 7″. The top/bottom borders were cut at 1 3/4″ x 9 1/2″. The unfinished block measures 9 1/2″ square just like the Regatta block. All fabrics are from Abloom.

I hope to see you over on YouTube today!

Have a wonderful Saturday! Corey

Oh Cory I can’t believe your tulip pattern, I was organizing my unfinished quilts yesterday and most of them were tulips.
And then I saw your yellow tulip pattern and now I have to have that.
