$5 April Pattern of the Month

Today, I am sharing about the $5 April pattern of the month which I’ve decided will be the Freshly Cut mini quilt.

This is such a fun quilt…perfect for charm packs and a great one to try out hand quilting if that’s something you’ve been wanting to try. My original quilt was made using Sugarcreek fabrics. I thought it would be adorable in Cali & Co. (the prints are the perfect size for this quilt) so I mocked it up to see if I was l right.

Yuppers!!…it’s super cute in Cali & Co. I would use the white ditsy fabric from Coriander Seeds for the white background fabric.

You can purchase the Freshly Cut Mini quilt pattern in either Paper or PDF version in my Etsy shop.

Positively Charming (the March $5 pattern of the month) can still be purchased for $5 through March 31.

I showed the Freshly Cut Mini quilt and chatted about it in today’s video.

I also chatted about a new giveaway in today’s video. (Giveaway goods pictured below)

To enter the giveaway, leave a comment about your favorite thing about spring and Nicole will pick her favorite comment to win all of the goodies above.

You can leave a comment through Friday, April 4. The winner will be notified via email and will be announced here on April 12.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Corey

  45. Stephanie says:

I love that spring, to me, represents new beginnings and a promise if new things to come. I love autumn for it’s colors but I live in SE Missouri and our winters feel way too long to me. When the leaves fall and the trees look dead and there seems to be too many dreary gray days along with cold temps, I long for spring way too early. When the Easter Lillies, aka Daffodils start blooming, I get more excited than for any other flower, because to me they mean spring is pretty well here and winter is nearly over. Daffodils represent hope to me. Just like the hope of Christ and His defeat over death. While autumn reminds me of the beauty that He represents even when and especially when times are tough that there’s still beauty in the journey ahead that doesn’t look so promising, Spring is like that long, tough journey you just got through and how He was with you through it all, holding your hand and that fulfillment of the promise that tomorrow is a new day and there are going to be brighter days!

  46. Deborah Rhodes says:

Baby birds are heard chirping, our flowers are particularly happy, and the lizards are scampering about. Two nights ago my sweet dog brought a lizard in the house and deposited it in the bed! I was (fortunately) able to capture it and release it outside. I may have shrieked , “Gecko in the bed!” The dog couldn’t understand why I wasn’t more enthusiastic about her gift. 😉

Oh boy! My favorite thing about spring is the lengthening days 🌞 I live in Northern Maine where winter brings short cold days where we are all lacking vitamin D! Winter can be very depressing so when we get past Punxsutawney Phil’s prediction and the days start getting longer in March, it gives us hope that Spring will eventually arrive, although it does not arrive as soon as the lower states we do start to get more Sunny days over freezing. It is so refreshing to the mind to see the birds return and hear them chirp and to see the brown winter grass poking out and start to look a little green. We are not quite there yet but many of you are 🙂 there is hope for us yet – next month 😉
Love your channel and all your fabrics Corey ♥️

Good morning, spring for me this year is a rebirth and restart. For the past 3 years I have been battling cancer. With the cancer I have not been able to sit or stand for a long period of time. This has been a frustration and sad period, I love to quilt and I haven’t been able to sew or anything that I love to do. Last year for spring and summer I was in the hospital away from my family. My sister and my best friend are quilts also. They would bring there projects and magazine for me to look at and dream of making. I was able to watch your videos and again dream of making different patterns.
I can now sit for 20 minutes at a time and I would love to get your give away to work with the beautiful blues and all the goodies in it. It is now time to heal both mentally and physically, this would be a wonderful boost to my spirits to get something like this.

BUT my favorite part of Texas spring are the flowers; bluebonnets, Indian blankets (Gaillardia pulchella), and lantana flowers. The colors are absolutely beautiful.

Hello Corey and Nicole. My favorite thing about Spring here in Tasmania, Australia, is when the daffodils pop their heads out of the earth and grow upwards towards the sun. Here in Southern Australia, we get a fair whack of Winter. So those daffeys are a reminder that the cold nights are winding down and Summer is not far away. Btw, it’s cooling off here now in Autumn.
Love all your shows, fabrics and designs.

It’s certainly a blessing to I wake up to the wonderful and innocent sound of nature. That is what look forward every year!

Phlox spilling over a rock wall, the white and pinks of dogwoods, the deep magenta of the tulip trees and of course the startling red bud trees all on bare branches. Well, I went all out and wrote a poem. Hope you like it! Love, Karleen

    Ah, Spring!

    Ah, Spring!
    Thou wearest
    Thy vest of green,
    Loveliness thy skirt,
    All nature thy Kirk.

    Tulips, daffodils,
    Sway and preen,
    Birds’ chorus
    Swoop as seen,
    Yawning, drowsy
    On quilts we dream.

    Ah, Spring!
    Thy Zephyrs sing,
    Thy chorus rings,
    Warmeth the earth,
    Prepare for rebirth.

    Tiny chicks chirp,
    Redbuds burst,
    Hushed hares hop,
    Fluffy clouds romp,
    Small kids jump,
    Happy bumps.

    Ah, Spring!
    Thy joy brings,
    Sky blue and cream,
    Thy flight on wing,
    Thy festive fling.

    Laughing, play,
    Children all day,
    Making mud pies,
    Baking delights.
    Fresh rays beam,
    Glisten and sheen,
    Hope’s dance scene,
    Life’s blush gleams.

    Ah, Spring!
    Behold thy King,
    He reigneth Supreme!
    Thy Lord is Christ
    With newness of life!

My female (his daughter) Lily Belle would not want anyone to know she enjoys pets lol. You mentioned Miller’s Dry Goods, I’ve been to Berlin twice now and loved it. My first time there I was an avid knitter had never quilted, walked in to Miller’s looking for yarn or wool to spin. When I asked the lovely lady told me it was just fabric and they didn’t know of any wool anywhere in town. So I looked around being transported back to a little girl following my momma around the fabric shop. I bought up a bunch of panels and charm packs I saw and a quilter was made that day!

That is when my cat Mandie runs out from where she is sleeping, jumps into my lap and is ready to watch You. She also does this when she here’s Sherri & Chelsea do the A Quilting Life Podcast.
My favorite thing about Spring, is you can smell the earth. If you garden you know what I’m talking about, the earth wakes up to a new opportunity for a new season open up and grow into something beautiful.

We live in Michigan on wetlands and the spring brings ducks. Of course we have Mallards but we also get Wood Ducks, Blue Teals, and Hooded Mergansers. It’s always exciting when the ducks start returning (often before all the ice has melted on the water). We’ve even had a pair of Sandhill Cranes showing up the last few years!

My favorite part of spring is when the yellow, and white daffodils start to bloom. Thier yellow, white, and peachy pink trumpets Blare out Spring has arrived!! Daffodils just make me smile.
Daffodils are such happy flowers dancing in the wind, and are resilient: whether the wind blows, the rain drips upon them, and even when they peek out from an occasional spring snowstorm.
Daffodils show us that no matter what the weather is spring is here so be of good cheer! It is time to enjoy quilting in the garden especially if you are lucky enough to have some Coriander seeds and beautiful Coriander floral fabrics to fashion a quilt to brighten your day!
Corey you always brighten Saturdays with your videos, when you come on its Corey time!
    Thanks Jean M.
PS I got so excited to see the peachy keen and bunny hill fabric scraps that will help me to finish off my Moda 5 blockheads (I’m using the same material). Also, I do not have any of the notions in this giveaway and the Summer Memories quilt book would be perfect to make a quilt to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

Spring always brings me back to my childhood and growing up on a cattle ranch in Nebraske where Spring meant brand new sparkly white baby calf faces (Herefords) standing out in the green pastures with their Mammas. It is something I think about every Spring of my 73 years. 🙂

Spring is such a reawakening of animals, trees, flowers, greening grass, and loads of sticks that were hidden by the winter snows. My favorite thing is seeing my rhubarb starting to grow.
