Beautiful Day Mystery Quilt Along Block 2: Rosy Wonder
Surprise!–our block is a day early this month. =) I accidentally published this blog post a day early and decided to leave it up so you’d have a little surprise.
It’s time for the second block in our Beautiful Day Mystery BOM. Our second block is a simple one and I think you will have fun stitching it up.
If you missed the first block release, or the fabric requirements for this block of the month, you can find them here:
Beautiful Day Mystery BOM: Fabric Requirements
Beautiful Day Mystery BOM: Block 1, Starry-Eyed
And now, here are the month two blocks:
I love the way that simply border frames each of those panel squares.
Click Here for the Rosy Wonder block pattern.
Just as with the first block pattern, I have created a YouTube tutorial video which you can find here.
Now let’s take a look at the individual blocks in a bit more detail.
I’ve written this pattern using a great method of strip piecing which means we will spend less time cutting and sewing these blocks together.
I really enjoyed the simplicity of piecing without any triangles or stitch and flip units. Sometimes you just want something a little bit simple!
I’ve also really been enjoying sewing with Beautiful Day fabrics right now. They are so cheerful and happy. Our weather here in Ohio has been beautiful this week–nearing 70. Which, after our snowy weekend, is so appreciated! Sunshine in the forecast and beautiful fabrics make for a pretty great combo.
These are the dates of the remaining block releases:
Block 3: April 16, 2022
Block 4: May 21, 2022
Block 5: June 18, 2022
Finishing Instructions: July 16, 2022
Thank you so much for stopping by today! Have fun sewing your Rosy Wonder blocks! Corey
I am excited and glad it went out a day early. Tomorrow being quilt day, I will be able to work on my blocks for this BOM. 🥰
I was hoping it would be a happy surprise!
I love these! My plans are to cut tonight and have ready to sew tomorrow. Thank you Corey!
That’s a perfect plan!
Thank you for your generosity. I have panels left from Apricot and Ash. Now I have to decide which quilt to use them in. I love this one and the checks on too.
You are so welcome! I’m using Apricot & Ash for my tutorials on YouTube and they are turning out so cute!
Corey could you mock up the Mystery Quilt with the red panel? I love this so much I would like to do a second one!
How fun!…one of the ladies in the Coriander Quilts Facebook group is using the red panel and her month one blocks are so pretty! If you’re in the group be sure to check them out!…if not, you can request to join here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/776236672755163
This is a very exciting surprise. Thank you
You’re so welcome!
Beautiful blocks!! Can’t wait too make them.
Thank you!
Thank you for this sew along, Corey! Just a quick question. If I use the Apricot and Ash fabric, would I still use the 9900-200 as my background fabric or would you recommend another color? Thank you so much! PS. Just watched the YouTube video—really cute shirt you’re wearing!!
Thank you so much! 9900-200 is the Bella solid that matches all of my collections. =)
The 9900-200 Bella solid is an off white color. Is that the fabric we are supposed to use?
It’s the white solid that matches all of my collections so it works great but you don’t need to if you don’t want to! It’s the white solid I used in my blocks.
Well darn I bought 51/2 yards of 9900-200 because that was what you had on the fabric requirements
A great block that frames the panel squares perfectly. Thank you.
You’re so welcome!
Hi, Love the blocks, just wondering if in the future, you would consider making smaller panels, for the weird people like me who love to do miniature versions of quilts. Thanks
Thank you!..I am a little bit limited with the sizes of the panels as they need to work with the fabric repeat as well as coming out evenly across the fabric in nice divisible sizes. Different sizes are possible though!
Thanks for the sew along. I purchased the full fat quarter set. For the first block and the second block, will we later be using the remainder of each fat quarter in this BOM quilt? It looks like I have at least a fat eighth remainder of the fat quarters used so far. I would like to use the remainders in the picket fence cottages quilt. But I do not want to short myself in this BOM.
Thanks!
Sandy
I didn’t repeat any of the prints in my blocks. =)
Thank you! I can start using what’s left of each in the Pickett Fence Cottages. I love that pattern you designed!
Hi Corey.
I love Apricot and Ash and so I am finally cutting into my stash for the sew along . Would you by any chance know which of the fabrics you will be using for the final blocks? I do not want to use the fabrics if possible in making the current blocks since I am loving your choices in pairing the fabrics and block patterns. I have been waiting to start just in case I need to rotate my original fabric plan to ensure I don’t inadvertently utilize them. Thank you!
Is the Apricot and Ash fabric panel, cloud still available? I am having a difficult time finding it.
I would like to purchase the apricot and ash fat quarters for the BOM but I can’t find the link to purchase it.
Hello Corey, I am interested in the Beautiful Day BOM. I would like to purchase the fat quarter bundle with the panel, but I can’t find where to purchase it. Please let me know so I can get started.
Debbie, did you check with Fat Quarter shop? That is where I got mine.
Just wondering if a Beautiful Day layer cake would work for the mystery quilt (if you cut your strips from the 10″ squares.
I love the beauty and simplicity of these blocks. So fun, relaxing, and easy to sew. Thank you Corey ❤️
