August Pattern of the Month
Chatting about the $5 August pattern of the month today. =)
Jelly Sticks is the August $5 pattern of the month. You can purchase it here. It is a fun one to make! A couple years ago, I shared a video when I made a second version using my stash of vintage sheets. It turned out so pretty!
You can watch the video of me making this quilt here. I backed it in minky and it’s the coziest quilt! You can see the finished quilt in today’s video.
Just looking at all of those pretty vintage sheets makes me want to start collecting them again. =) They are such a fun thrift store find.
You can also find good ones over on Etsy. When I am shopping on Etsy, I most often buy a fat quarter of a vintage sheet (not the whole thing!). Then, with a quilt like Jelly Sticks, I cut strips of the size that I need.
My original Jelly Sticks quilt was made using Buttercup and Slate:
Let’s take a look at Jelly Sticks in some other fabric options. First up, in the video, I promised a fall version. Before sharing in Cozy Up fabrics, I checked to make sure that you could still purchase Cozy Up jelly rolls and sure enough you can. There is still a nice selection in online quilt shops as well as in Etsy shops.
I love this one in Cozy Up. It makes me want to grab a Cozy Up jelly roll off of my shelves and start stitching. =) I also noticed after posting the image that I still have a Cali & Co. fabric mixed in with my Cozy Up fabrics…can you spot it? Speaking of Cali & Co….here’s Jelly Sticks using those fabrics:
Cali & Co. will be in quilt shops later this fall. Of course I also wanted to see it in Starberry fabrics:
Perfectly festive. =) Let me know which version is your favorite. =) Have a wonderful Saturday! Corey
I liked the Cali and Co version best and enjoyed seeing Jelly Sticks in the other collections, too. Thanks for all you do, Corey!!!
Isn’t that a happy quilt!
I love, love the Starberry version! Gotta get this one!
It’s full of holiday cheer!
It’s hard to pick a favorite. I love Jelly Sticks in both Cali & Co and Starberry!
It’s always fun to see a quilt mocked up in other fabric lines. =)
Is there ANY chance of revamping & releasing BUTTERCUP and SLATE? This is by far my favorite line by you. Would love some. (Note: I said love, not need! Hence why I let it slip by me!) Lesson learned.
You never know! Buttercup & Slate was a follow up to Pepper & Flax which was also a yellow/gray line. It’s always a fun palette to work with. =)
All of the Jelly Sticks mock-ups are beautiful, but Cozy Up is SO pretty!!! That’s one of my favorite lines, and I love the pattern so much I’ve made 3 quilts with it 😁 I may just have to go for a 4th now!
Cozy Up was my favorite of those mock-ups….it’s just looks so cozy!
My two favorites are made with buttercup and slate, and with Starberry fabric.
The Starberry one is so festive!
I love the one made with Starberry, but they are all beautiful!
Hi Cory!
I just adore you and love your episodes.
Aug 3 was especially interesting with the ruler sharing. Your mock-ups of ‘Sticks’ pattern are fabulous examples of what one can create with their own fabric choices.
Thank you for you contribution to this community!

Just the pattern I need to get my quilting MOJO back. Thank you 😊
HANDS DOWN! FAVE IS THE VINTAGE SHEETS!!!!
I love them all but my favorite is Buttercup & Slate. I love the contrast of dark/light.
Hi Corey. I have to say that I really love them all! It would be so nice to switch them out each season. I love your fabric and patterns. Thank you for post the alternate fabric mock ups.
I love them all but Vintage Sheets is my favorite. From the time I first saw it on your channel I knew I wanted to use this pattern. Thank you for the mock ups. Very useful.
I liked the vintage sheet quilt–such happy colors, I also like the Starberry version!
My favorite is Starberry. They are all so pretty.
My favorite is the vintage sheet quilt! Going to get the pattern now. I look forward to your videos. Thanks for all the time you put into these.
Have a Cozy Up jelly roll to use. What background fabric was used with this?
The Moda Bella solid that matches any of my fabric lines is 9900-200. It is a warm white. Additionally, you could use any of the white on white prints from Coriander Seeds which are also that same shade of white. Cozy Up had a white on white pin dot fabric in the line…this fabric is also available in Coriander Seeds.
Jelly Stick is my new go to for a quick quilt. I have made so far and want to do many more.
I think it’s such fun to make!
