Block Heads Round 3
Happy Monday friends!–just popping in with some exciting Moda Block Heads Round 3 news. Round 3 will be kicking off January 15 and I am so excited to be participating once again.
If you are unfamiliar with Block Heads, it is a sampler quilt sew along hosted by Moda Fabrics. All of the blocks from the first round of Block Heads were compiled into an amazing book. Round 1 began in 2017.
I was invited as one of the designers of Round 2 of Block Heads in 2018. You can still find all of the blocks released during Round 2 on the Moda blog here.
And this was my completed Round 2 quilt (would you believe I still need to quilt my round 1 quilt!) =)
And with my cute little model, Frances:
Round 3 brings with it another fun group of designers. We have not yet seen all of the blocks that will be released but what I can tell you is that they will be available in various sizes which is really going to allow you to personalize your quilt. If you like big quilts, make the largest size…are you a mini kinda gal?…make the small size. Or mix and match sizes as you please.
And here is the line-up of Moda Designers that will be participating for Round 3:
- Corey Yoder (me)
- Sherri McConnell
- Brigitte Heitland
- Betsy Chutchian
- Jan Patek
- Lisa Bongean
- Lissa Alexander
- Laurie Simpson
- Vanessa Goertzen
- Stacy Iest Hsu
- Robin Pickens
- Janet Clare
- Jen Kingwell
- Joanna Figueroa
For the last two rounds of Block Heads, I used a scrappy mix of my fabric lines. I haven’t yet decided on my fabric plan for this round but I did go ahead and make up some scrappy fat quarter bundles and have listed them in my shop in case you wanted to start collecting for Block Heads 3 (or just for fun!)
The fabric requirements for round 3 will vary from person to person depending on the size and number of blocks you end up making. In any event, you can’t go too wrong with fat quarters as they will work for larger as well as smaller blocks. More details will be released as we get closer to the date.
If you are not yet a member of the Block Heads Facebook group, it is a great place to visit for inspiration. And I would also encourage you to bookmark the list of designers participating.
You do not need to sign up to join the sew along. The blocks will be made available for you to download every week. =)
See you on Wednesday for another Wondering Wednesday post! (If you have any Block Heads questions feel free to leave it on this post and I can address them on Wednesday as well). =)
I haven’t finished BH2, but I am excited for BH3. So glad there will be multiple sizes available each week so we can make a quilt custom sizes for each quilter.
And you are also my favorite fabric designer. I just love all your collections…so hard to pick a favorite, as I love them all! And they can mix & match so well together is a bonus 🙂
I’ve finally gotten my borders on my BH2 and it is ready to go on the longarm. Yea!! I’ve got a fat quarter bundle of Strawberry Jam, so I am ready for BH3. Looking forward to starting something new, but I still have a few things to finish off between now and then… Don’t we all. lol
Do we know a schedule of which designers have which week?
