Blockheads Round 2 Block 11

Block #11 for Blockheads Round 2 is here today.  The block name is Direction and it’s designed by Sherri McConnell of A Quilting Life.  You’ll find the pattern download available on her blog today.

Sherri’s blog is a wealth of information, you are not going to want to miss out!  Be sure to pop on over.

For my block, I used a combination of Sunnyside Up fabrics for the print center and the outer newspaper border is a Basic Grey fabric, Compositions Newsprint in Fog.  I’ve used this fabric with Sunnyside Up several times and I love the way the two play together.  Bonus:  the newsprint fabric comes in 108″ wide fabric and is perfection for quilt backs.

If you aren’t in the habit of regularly laying out your blocks, it is a great practice to start doing.  This allows you to see what colors you might be needing more of.  Also, if you are using different background prints, you can easily see which backgrounds you will need to add more of.  I know that I will be adding more of that newsprint fabric as I go along–and there is a pretty good chance it will be used for my backing fabric.  I love a good 108″ wide fabric!
