Blockheads Week 6

Welcome to Blockheads Week 6.  I can’t believe we are already past July 4.  For me, once we get to this point in the summer I feel like it is half way over.  Raise your hand if you aren’t ready for your kids to head back to school.  My hand is raised!  I love having my girls at home.

We spent last week with my husband’s family in Hocking Hills.  We were pretty unplugged and it was such a nice time away.  It meant that when we got back, I had to hussle to get Block 6 pieced and photographed.

Block #6, Path Thru the Woods, was designed by Betsy Chutchian.  You will want to visit her blog for the link to today’s pattern.  Remember, we are all in different time zones so if the pattern isn’t up on her site yet, just give it a little bit of time and check again.

Betsy’s first line of fabric for Moda came out at the same time as my first line of fabric came out.  It was a real treat to get to know Betsy at that market and to catch up with her each market since.  She is such a nice person and I always enjoy our talks.  She is a wealth of information about reproduction fabrics!

This week’s block is a 12″ one and thank goodness for that with all of those triangles!  I opted to size my squares for the HST’s up just a hair so that I could trim them up.  This helps with accuracy.  For my fabrics, I’ve got a little bit of everything in there:  Lulu Lane, Prairie, Pepper & Flax, Flower Mill, and Sundrops.  The little “x” background fabric is a Lori Holt fabric.

I am once again providing the coloring page for this weeks block.

This coloring page gives you four blocks for you to color in to help you with fabric placement before you begin cutting and sewing your block.

I’ve provided these coloring pages for all of the blocks starting with block 2.  Click the link below to download the PDF.

  1. Thanks so much for the coloring page. My first two blocks I had to draw them on graph paper and it was “hope I get it right the first time”. You made my life easier. Thanks again.

I’m trying to find your pepper and flax material, my local quilt shop doesn’t carry your line (I told her to look into Coriander Quilts). But I bought your pattern but can’t find the Fat 8th bundle of Pepper & flax. Can you direct me?

Hey Friends!--I'd love to hear from you. =)
