A couple more Bee Blocks
First up, some Kaffe Fassett mitred squares for Heidi in the Scraptastic Bee.
These squares were a lot of fun to make–easy to sew together, a little bit trickier to cut. The fabrics I received had a variety of stripes to work with which required very precise cutting to insure all of the triangles matched up. A fun little challenge. These squares look pretty cool when they are all put together and it’ll be neat to see the finished quilt.
And secondly an I spy quilt block for Marilyn in the International Stash Busting Bee
Marilyn is making an I spy quilt for her grandsons–neat idea, right? I received the geometric fabric in the lower corner and was asked to supply the rest of the fabrics from my stash and make a 4 patch, or 9 patch or 16 patch…you get the picture. I cheated just a little bit because I just had to add the dinosaur–I thought he was just perfect for this little block.
Making this block for Marilyn has really brought to light how varied my fabrics really are. You’ll remember my fabric mess post a few posts back. Well, I (actually my mom & I) tackled a portion of my fabrics and organized them–as we were sorting we pulled these novelty fabrics knowing they would be perfect for this block. They are quite a bit different from a lot of the fabrics in my stash and had we not been organizing I would never have remembered that I had them. I was glad to be able to uncover some goodies for this block.=) If you want to see more of Marilyn’s quilt blocks check them out here–she’s received a lot of neat blocks.
Oh my, those mitered stripes are So Cute! It makes me want to raid my stash for any striped fabrics.
I LOVE my block, and especially the "cheater" dinosaur–what a brilliant way to fit him in! Sweet story about organizing your fabrics–lucky, lucky me:) Thanks so much!!
That's a very cheeky monkey!
