Feeling Leafy Quilt

Happy Wednesday friends!  It feels odd to be sharing a non-blockheads Wednesday blog post and video with all of you today. =)  But, I am excited to be sharing a fun, maple leaf fall quilt with you instead.

Feeling Leafy is a quilt pattern that I designed for the new Moda All-Stars Snuggle Up quilt book.  It was such a treat to piece this one…one layer cake, and one giant maple leaf quilt block.  It came together so fast.  This is definitely a quilt in a day pattern…for me, it was a quilt in an afternoon pattern!

I used a layer cake of Cozy Up for the prints and I used a white on white gingham for the background.  Now that Coriander Seeds is in quilt shops, you could grab the white on white pin dot fabric which perfectly coordinates with Cozy Up.  I’m so glad we are going to have that white on white pin dot sticking around for many projects to come!

Feeling Leafy finishes at 63″ square and I backed it with minky fabric which makes it the perfect quilt to snuggle with during these fall months.  My quilter, David Hurd, of Quilting By David beautifully quilted it using the West Wind quilting design.  How appropriately named is that for this quilt!

I put together a quick quilt share of Feeling Leafy over on my YouTube channel if you’d like to watch.  I shared the quilt in a bit more detail, show the back, talk about the quilting, and talk a bit about minky.  If that sounds interesting, pop on over. =)

The Moda All-Stars Snuggle Up book can be found in quilt shops both locally and online.  I do have a few copies for sale in my Etsy shop.  See you back here on Saturday for the 3rd block in our Oh, Happy Day! sampler sew along. =) Corey

A little off topic, however… I am going to make Sewcialites 2 with a fat eighth bundle of Buttercup and Slate & a coordinating Moda solids fat quarter bundle. I also purchased a fat quarter bundle of Coriander Seeds for background. My question is will the Coriander Seeds fabric work with the other fabric that I am intending to use?

Just finshed the quilt top this past weekend. It was such a quick quilt and makes a very nice snuggle up quilt. I am hoping to get it on the longarm this weekend and am planning on backing it in flannel… Wish me luck.

Hey Friends!--I'd love to hear from you. =)
