Firecrackers Quilt
Happy Friday everyone! I am back today sharing another finished quilt top. This one is called Firecrackers and it is available in a PDF pattern from Fat Quarter Shop. If you follow me on Instagram, you have seen sneak peeks of this quilt as I have been working on it.
For my quilt, I chose to use Rhoda Ruth prints and coordinating solids. I think this gives it a wonderful Fall feel.
This quilt uses two jelly rolls plus yardage for the background. You will also need the 30 degree triangle ruler by Creative Grids. Using this ruler, the quilt top comes together quickly.
Fat Quarter Shop has put together a wonderful video tutorial explaining and demonstrating how to use the ruler for this quilt and put together the quilt top.
And look, they have used Prairie fabric in their quilt. I love the way it looks in this quilt pattern!
And they have a Firecrackers quilt kit featuring Prairie fabrics if you’d like a Prairie Firecracker quilt of your own! =)
Have a wonderful Sewing Weekend!
I love this pattern, but what could you make if you just have one jelly roll? Is a baby quilt possible? I have a few jelly rolls I bought a long time ago and forgotten what I was going to do with them and this would be a good pattern for them, but I just have one jelly roll and can’t find a second anymore.
You could make a smaller quilt with just one jelly roll. You can also cut 2 1/2″ strips from yardage if you wanted to add more strips to the jelly roll you already have–or you could purchase a solid jelly roll and mix the solids in. Another suggestion would be to purchase a 2nd jelly roll from the same designer as your first one–often collections from the same designer will mix well together.
Solids is a great idea. I have a grandma floral jelly roll that maybe if I mixed solids in, it would make not so old lady-ish. I will buy solid yardage instead of a jelly roll, so I can focus on the just the right colors and have just the right variety. Thank you for the tips, you are great!!
Corey ~ I love this design! It’s so fresh and fun and the tutorial from Fat Quarter Shop was great! I think I’m going to have to make it!
I haven’t been looking at my email for a long time now ~ did you change the name of your blog?
