July 2024 Pattern of the Month

I can’t believe that it’s time to share another pattern of the month with all of you. This summer has been zipping by so quickly!

For July, I am offering Barn Star 3 as the pattern of the month. It is $5 over in my Etsy shop starting today and running through the end of July. Nicole and I filmed a video chatting about Barn Star 3 and some other fabric chat that you can watch here.

I wanted to share some more digital images of Barn Star 3. The picture at the top of the screen uses Starberry fabrics except for the binding which is from Coriander Colors. Both lines are in quilt shops now. Every now and then, someone will tell me they don’t care for black in a holiday line so, I also mocked up a red/green version using Starberry fabrics (again the binding is from Coriander Colors).

Yesterday, I shared this fun little fabric mix on Instagram and Facebook:

It’s a mix of Starberry, Peachy Keen, and Coriander Colors. I thought it would be fun to do some versions of Barn Star 3 using these collections mixed together. All 3 of these collections are in quilt shops right now.

First up, a red/white/blue version:

And next up a Black/Gray version:

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend! Corey

Thank you so much for showing your quilts in different color ways! I have no confidence in substituting other colors, and this is a great learning experience for me. Love all your versions, and now want to make them all!

Many thanks for sharing the differently colored mock ups for us. I am color challenged, even with using the color wheel…guess my A.D.D brain isn’t wired to decide on color combinations, in quilting and counted X-STITCH. I appreciate all you do and share with us, Cori

Thank you for coloring the Barn Star in Starberry. I like both the red/green and the one with black. I love the Starberry line. I have all your Barn Star patterns in my collection and from the YT video you have another in the works—-yay.

Hello Corey, John the Quilter here. A question about Barn Stars. I have Barn Star 6 in Peachy Keen as well the pattern for 8. I was thinking of getting the pattern for #3 and then one other to make an 80” square quilt. Would that work? Should they all be in Peachy Keen, or mixed with other lines?

Hey John!…Yes, they all mix together beautifully. If you happen to pop by my Etsy shop, I have a listing for the 1st four and the photo for that listing shows all of them mocked up together using one fabric line…If you kind of want to get an idea of how they might look. You’d be looking at a different mix of four but that still might be helpful. You could definitely mix in other fabric lines but I’d probably mix in fabrics that coordinate with Peachy Keen just to keep things cohesive.

I love the July pattern, intricate, yet plain at the same time, thanks so much!

What is the name of the quilt hanging to your right (left side of picture) and where can I find the pattern? I checked out Etsy but didn’t spot it there.

Love your quilts. Keep them coming.

Question…the quilt on the right side (the bright multi color one) what is the pattern name please? I love it !!

I would love an idea on how to use white on white fabric and not sew pieces upside down. I always try to be very careful, but always seem to get pieces stitched upside down (with the front of fabric on the bottom). Do you have any suggestions on how to avoid this problem. I think my eyes just can’t see it. I always revert to a low volume fabric or just white to fix the problem. When every block has to be fixed because one piece is in wrong if very frustrating. I Love to Quilt.

Hey Friends!--I'd love to hear from you. =)
