July $5 Pattern of the Month
Good morning Coriander friends. =) I hope you have all had a wonderful week.
My week went by very quickly and here we are already to another Saturday. =)
In today’s YouTube video, I am sharing part 2 of our pouch tutorial. This pouch turned out so cute!
It all started out with the panel from Abloom to which I added the stitching, then we did a little piecing, quilting, zipper adding, and binding to finish everything off. Such a cute little project! If you missed part 1 of the tutorial, you can watch here.
It’s also time for another new $5 pattern of the month. For July (as you may have surmised), I am offering the Sunny pattern as the $5 pattern. This month is a little bit different in that Sunny is only available as a PDF. Typically, my $5 pattern of the month is available in both paper and PDF. However, I’ve received such positive feedback about my current backdrop bundle of patterns (pictured below) which is also a PDF only bundle that I’ve decided to offer a PDF only pattern for July. We’ll see if this is something I do again in the future or not.
I originally made Sunny using my Lulu Lane line of fabric which is no longer in print. Below you can see Sunny using Abloom fabric.

Hi Corey, I’m excited to have some time in the week ahead to do some organizing of my fabrics and also do some sewing!! This past week we had grandkids visit and now I can focus on my hobbies for a few days, ha!

Hi Corey, I’m excited for the end of the week when my grandchildren come to spend three weeks with me and my hubby. This is the first summer that we all feel they are old enough to come down without the parents in tow. I have such big plans for them, including some basic sewing lessons and learning (memorizing) the times tables for the next school year. I’ll be spending this week getting their room ready and finishing up what sewing projects I can before they arrive.
Thank you, Corey! This week happens to be my oldest daughter’s birthday! I am always excited to celebrate my children! She’s also giving birth to my eighth grandchild next month. Blessing upon blessing!
Congratulations on the upcoming grandchild. I have a GrandCat but maybe one day I’ll have a grandchild as well.
I am excited for another week of above hot temperatures. It’s another excuse I pull out of my bag to stay in and quilt!!!

Hi Corey! I’m so excited to be able to put new storage cabinets in my studio this week. They’re from Ikea, so my hubby and I will have to assemble them. That should be fun. Then I get to put all my fabrics and notions, etc., back in!
I am spending this week with my family, celebrating the blessings we have as a nation and grateful for the sacrifices of so many. I am also planning another red, white and blue quilt!!!

I just love your pouch project, so cute I can’t wait to make one. I look forward to the Fourth of July when my daughters and the grandkids come over and swim and watch the fireworks from Farr off in the distance, because there are no fireworks allowed in my city. and then the Tuesday after Fourth of July I’m leaving on a road trip with my 16 year old granddaughter, hoping to hit some great thrift stores. My USMC son is playing hockey like old times in a tournament for autism with other disabled veterans. He played hockey growing up and it’s very nostalgic. I am running the score board like old times too! How fun! Love the pouch! Abloom is gorgeous

Hi this week on July 1 we are celebrating our 53 wedding anniversary. My hubby had a devastating stroke 8 yrs ago, left him disabled in a wheelchair and paralyzed on left side. I take full care of him and we do ok. I am happy to have another yr together. Thanks. Mary

The July 4th holiday falling on Friday means a 3-day weekend. And for me that means 3 full days of sewing! I am working on a mini exploding heart Texas flag version for a friend who is moving to Tennessee.

Love red, white and blue fabrics. My daughter (who has Stage 4 cancer) is wanting a red, white and blue quilt, so would love to win this. As for what I’m planning for this week, I purchased red snappers for my longarm leaders, and planning (hoping) to get my leaders prepared so I can insert the red snappers and, hopefully, they will work for me and I can try a new way of loading my quilts on the longarm.

Love the video. Watched while traveling to the Quilt show road to Va. Ive never attempted a bag or pouch but you make it seem doable… I think I may have to try it. I’ve never gotten the liberty box but always wondered what would be in it. It looks like lots of fun. I like that its really designed for quilters. I’m excited about the In the Garden line coming out in November. We’ll see what develops. Just ordered the $5.00 July pattern. Good Morning! I am excited to work on a large tote bag that I started making. This will be the first quilted bag I have made. So far, I have just been cutting out fabrics for it. I hope you have a great week and thank you for the videos each Saturday!
I’m loving the pouch! I think I will size it down some and add a strap for my granddaughter to have her own crossbody purse to play with at Nana’s house. We recently got E-bikes which have been great to ride as the sun is setting and the weather is cooling off each day. We are going to get some ebike trail ridiing done, finish up a fence project, and if time allows take the kayaks out after we bath in bug spray. The skeeters here are thriving in the very wet conditions with all the rain. AND OF COURSE, some sewing in. I won’t be completing any projects this coming weeks, but progress is always the goal. I am going to try and find a Betsy Ross style flag pattern for a wall hanging that I would like to complete this summer. Happy 4th to all!

I’m so thankful for good health and now able to get back to my machine! Barb Drummond I am excited to share my piano music tomorrow at my church and then getting together with 2 of my 5 sisters after church for a time to just catch up and have some good food and laugh a lot. We have a 91 year old mother who is showing signs of dementia and it has been hard on all the sisters to see her this way. She also lives in IN and we are in OH so visiting is hard too. We do have our baby sister who lives close to mom and she keeps us up to date on mom’s health. Now you can see why we just need to laugh a lot. I wish it was all 5 sisters but the 2 I am seeing tomorrow are the only ones that live here in OH. Thanks for sharing your talents with us quilters and being so cheerful. I always feel more inspired after watching you each week.

I have been renovating my sewing/craft/office space inour basement and it is finally finished enough that I am able to start organizing my stash. This has been ongoing since January and I am so excited to have it finished. I watch your Saturday tutorials and love them. This 67 year old that has been sewing/quilting since I was 8 years old at the knee of my Grandmother and Mother. I remember sitting below the quilting frame in the living room with my sister watching Cinderella on the black and white TV. I am so excited to get into my new room to organize and quilt. The pouch you made using the Abloom panel and fabrics is really cute. I want to make little bags to use as Christmas gifts and Abloom will make beautiful bags. Thanks for the tutorial. I am also in a patriotic mood, and I have been cross stitching and sewing some Red White and Blue lately, and the Liberty box fits right in. My grandson’s 5th birthday is next week, so I am helping plan his party. And, I am looking forward to celebrating Independence Day.

I have a concrete goose at my home, when he leaves my house he has to walk back to tell “Gertie” bye. He will find his new friend when he arrives at his vacation destination. The 4th of July is a bitter sweet day for our family. My husband passed suddenly on that day marching in the parade while carrying the flag. I was later told they had to pry the flag from his hands. He was a Korean War Air Force veteran and was so proud to have served. We celebrate the 4th and his life each year as we always did. It is our way of honoring his memory. We also always purchase wreaths for veterans through the Wreaths Accross America organization and we have a web site in his honor for our local veterans cemetery.j
May we all take time to realize the blessings we have as we celebrate our nation’s birthday and give thanks to those that made it possible. Assisting with Quilts of Valor is one way to give back. The fabric in the box would surely help!

I was very late to decide I wanted a Wooly Wall hanging. I searched many local and distant quilt shops. Finally, found one with kit using the Strawberry fabric line.
I am so exited it comes Monday. I am going to cut and take to my first quilt retreat in August to make at the retreat!!!!!!!

Thoroughly enjoyed your pouch tutorial with the lovely fabric! I am excited this week to finally bind about 10 small child quilts made in 2024 and mail them off to family. I also just finished my hummingbird panel finished with edge to edge embroidery and will get it on the wall—yay! Also hope rain comes this week which would be fantastic!

I’m excited about working on an old Quilt from Fat Quarter Shop. It was one of their make a wish Quilt alongs called Bountiful . It uses your fabric called Sunwashed. I just love the color in this fabric. Looking forward to your next block of the month.

I work at a high school and I have just started my summer break. This weekend I am cleaning and reorganizing my sewing room and I am so excited I get to start sewing next week. I have several projects that are cut out and ready to go. Summertime is when I get the bulk of my quilting done because during the school year things are so hectic.

Hi Cory! I’m excited to go to my hometown this week and spend Fourth of July with family and friends. I sewed with my friends last night and finished piecing my cuddle up sampler! It’s been an emotional Quilt for me to make because of the Sheep, but that is also the reason why I wanted to make it. I was working on it at a retreat and my grandparents that race sheep were not doing well. I got to the sheep block and did not know if my grandma was going to make it through the night at that point. She passed about a month ago and last night I was finally able to work on the Quilt again. I will always think of her when I look at that Quilt and it brought me comfort to finally finish it. Thank you for the amazing patterns that you make.

I took a week’s vacation with family and although it was memorable going back to where my children grew up and being able to tell stories, it was exhausting and I forget I’m 81, ending with an embarrassing fall during the ride home. Finally, today I’m healed and looking forward to playing with my Abloom fabric which is calling me. Thank you for asking.
Thank you so much for the bag tutorial! I am excited to put the binding on my 2024 temperature quilt this week. Your technique has made it so easy for me to bind…I have used it for a couple of years now. Arthritis in my hands makes hand sewing very hard. Sigh….but anyway, you have saved the day! Hi Corey, great tutorial on the pouch. I intend to make one for my Hubby Chris. He works away from home, 8 days away and 6 days home. So he has to pack all his bits and bobs to take along. That pouch size would be great for his electroics; chargers and what not. I was looking for some “Guy” Fabric and that 4th of July themed from the Liberty box would be perfect. “The Fourth” is Hubby’s favorite holiday.
I am so looking forward to this week because we are doing a get-away over the Forth. Just Chris, me and and the doggos (Maggie and Bertie) in our camper at a Vermont State Park. We dont get a lot of quality time to spend together. When Chris is home all the tasks I can’t do need doing. (note I pretty much do everything unless it involves the tractor) So this will be a relaing wekend just taking in nature and enjoying each others company. Keeping my fingers crossed that our 18 year old cat Jasper makes it another week, Our son will be stopping by to care for him.

Good Morning Corey and Nicole. We are finally having a nice day in the Pacific Northwest. I would definitely use the fabrics in the Liberty box. I chose not to buy one this year, since last year’s was not what I had envisioned. Now regretting my decision.

I am excited for the Fourth celebration. I have all of my quilted projects for the fourth out and waiting for all of my company to come to celebrate.
Love your fabrics! Your Apricot and Ash line was one of my favorites! I wait not-so-patiently every Saturday for your videos. I’ve made pouches before but I love incorporating a quilt block into it. I used vinyl so I can see what is inside but I think making one for something special (so I know what’s inside this special pouch) would be great! Thank you for all you do for the quilting world.

I’m excited to go over to my daughter’s on July 4th. My son-in-law usually cooks some type of seafood boil and of course we have salt potatoes, corn on the cob and watermelon. I usually will bake a dessert but since we are all watching our calories watermelon will probably be the dessert portion of the meal this year.

I’m welcoming my sister, her daughter and two grandchildren for their annual visit this coming week. We garden, craft, and talk the days away while the grandkids swim and get into any number of shenanigans. It’s a wonderful time!

I am looking forward this week to finishing a table runner for a friend’s birthday. There are a lot of tiny pieces in this project. I cut 96 pieces of one-inch squares. I don’t like to work on such small pieces, but I am going slow and it is working out.

I am excited about having a third interview with a company I am hoping to work for. I have been out of work for almost a year now. I am Executive Assistant. Quilting has been a great hobby for me during this time. I am working a king size quilt using the Brickhouse pattern from Fat Quarter Shop. Ive been quilting now for 3 years and I am carrying on the tradition of my mother who passed in 2021. Thank you for your informative and fun tutorials. I love seeing Tiggsy too.

Summertime! Yes, I’m happy to be celebrating beautiful long days here in Alaska right now. With 19+ hours of daylight there’s lots of time for fun. And, soon my family will be gathering here for 10 days of fishing and visiting.

I’m excited about the garden and canning vegetables and jelly making (so far I’ve got 32 cups of black raspberry jelly and 8 quarts of pickled beets in the pantry!) The only down side to this fun time is I’m usually too tired to sew after a long day in the kitchen. 😀 Life is so grand and I’m truly blessed!

I’m excited to spend the 4th with family and it’s my mom’s birthday so we’ll throw her a party with her favorite dessert, a strawberry trifle. I’m also actually happy to be sorting my scrap box to make bags and pincushions to donate to my local pioneer museum to sell in their giftshop.
I finished the top for a king size double wedding ring for my daughter’s wedding. Dropped it off to the longarmmer yesterday. Excited to get it back and start the dreaded bias binding.

I’m excited because after 6 WEEKS I get to see my sewing friends. We are taking a road trip to my cardiologist for a 6 month check up. Better yet we are going to TWO quilt stores and out to dinner. We normally get together every other week and sew but with schedules we haven’t all 3 been together in over 6 weeks.

I am excited about several upcoming events, but the first one is tomorrow when I am going to the Reds game with my brother and 85-year-old dad to help celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Big Red Machine. That team from the ’70’s is a big part of my formative years — lol.
Looking forward to having my son and grandson from CA visiting us in TX next week. All 6 grandsons will be together again and they are great with each other. I’m working on UFOs this year, so I hope to find a bit of time to work on/finish my reproduction 1 inch Irish Chain quilt!
This coming week will busy. First and most important is my one and only grandchild’s

Good Morning Corey! I’m excited about starting on my BFF’s Chirstmas present. One hundred and forty four 4.5 finihsed HSTs…. You’ve inspred me to get working on my WIP and I’m being more thoughtful about finishing current projects in a manner that makes them easy to complete. Things like cutting borders, binding and backing while at the end stage of the quilt sewing, so it’s ready to get in line for my embroidery machine for E2E quilting. Hi Corey! We are excited because our granddaughter and her parents are coming to visit us here on Cape Cod, MA. We will go to the Fourth of July fireworks, go to the beach, take the ferry to Martha’s Vineyard, and just enjoy each other’s company. I am also excited because I have made two panel wall hangings for them, one of hot air balloons (They always go to the hot air balloon festival where they live in Colorado Springs, CO), and one with a Halloween motif. They have three wall areas at their house where they display the quilts I have made for them, changing the quilts for holidays, birthdays, etc., as the year goes along.I would love to win the Liberty box giveaway! I really love the pouch tutorial. And I already ordered the PDF pattern which I think is perfect. A lot of people can also look at their local library for free or very very low cost printing. I know my library lets me have five free pages per day so Really I could print out a pattern and pay for very little extra cost. The librarians can also help you understand how to download a pattern if you’re not sure. And I love seeing the mall cups in your other fabric lines. I’m really waiting for the flannel line. I cannot wait

Well, I have quite a few things I am excited about this next week. My youngest grandson turns 3 on Tuesday! He is obsessed with sharks so I made a Social Sharks quilt by Elizabeth Hartman for him. I plan to gift it to him on his birthday. His parents are hosting his party on the 4th so it will be a big celebration week! I have been asked to make his cake…he picked the decorations, Shark themed of course! I have never airbrushed on a cake so this will be interesting…wish me luck! And as if that weren’t enough, he saw my Chicka Chicka Boom Boom panel and wants that quilt too! He loves that book so his Lulu (me) will get that made by Friday too. So much fun with these boys! Hi Corey, I am excited this week to get my new air conditioner and furnace installed— been without for a little more than a week- and it has been HOT!. We are getting a new bed delivered this week. I’m so excited to get it, but nervous because we are going to a king from a queen sized. Hi Corey, thank you for your fun upbeat videos. I’m looking forward to finally doing the quilting on a wedding present I’ve made for a dear friend. I’ve struggled trying to come up with a design for the quilting and finally decided what I’m going to do. Next week will be actually putting the Longarm to work creating that design idea.

I’m excited that it’s going to be July! June was a busy month because of the Wisconsin Quilt Shop Hop – I help out at a fabric store and we had over 500 people visit the shop! 😮💨 Whew! This week we will drive from our home in Washington state to Lodi, CA to attend my uncle’s 100th birthday on July 5th. He is one of the last living Marine Rangers who served in Iwo Jima / Pacific so the Marine’s are holding a huge party for him. We are looking forward to the party and celebrating the 4th with his family (my cousins).
I loved the pouch tutorial! I am excited for our July 1st celebration here in Canada. The fireworks over the lake are the best!
I am excited every time I get a moment to sit at my machine and stitch a little. I have been taking care of my husband at home in hospice for 2 weeks now. Quilting is my happy place. I finished this months mystery quilt block.
I’m excited to have three days with my two youngest grandson’s. I got my sewing studio organized and cleaned yesterday so I’m ready to rick and roll. By the way, love the zipper pouch you made. I have lost track of how many I have made. I use them all the time and have given many away. Thanks for all you do for our quilting community.

We just returned from spending a few days in Amish country (Walnut Creek/Sugar Creek area). I am looking forward to spending a relaxing three-day weekend with friends starting with the 4th! Food, friends and fireworks! Hopefully Saturday I can get back to my sewing projects.

Love your video’s, this week I am excited to start cleaning out my current sewing room to move into a long awaited new space. It will double the space I have now and my longarm, sewing machine, and fabric will be in the same place. Also blessed to be getting together with my family as we all live in different places.

I love your videos! This week our family gets together for the Fourth! We walk in the local parade and hand out American flags to those along the parade route! We all dress in our favorite red, white, and blue! Happy Fourth of July!

July 4 week/weekend brings to town our traditional American Legion baseball tournament. This year my grandson is part of the hometeam. Excited to watch great baseball topped off with an amazing fireworks show on the 5th. Love Coriander Quilts and FQS!

I am looking forward to the 4th of July festivities! I’m working on patriotic quilts but they won’t be ready for this year’s celebration. Luckily my husband crochets. He was in the Navy and is very patriotic so he has made several afghans to display in the living room–I’m saying display, not use, as it is super hot here in Michigan this week. This week I am looking forward to the Mid-Atlantic Shop Hop starting on July 1st and running through the end of August! I am doing this shop hop with my sister, but we will only hit a fraction of the 125 shops involved. It covers 6 states! Love your fabrics and watching your videos!

I just got home from a wonderful vacation with extended family so this week I’m looking forward to laundry (!) and sleeping in my own bed! Actually I finished quilting a long time UFO before I left for vacation so I’m looking forward to binding it finally.
I’m excited that my husband is off on Friday for the Fourth. Since he is a truck driver with a long run, and also a pastor, he can use the break. Also would like to make the pouch in your video, and possibly cut out a quilt for my son.
