Last Blog Post & Video of the Year! [and Giveaway Winner!]

Make It Modern Quilt

Merry New Year’s Eve eve! I had to laugh last week at a couple of the comments that were left here and over on my YouTube video. I had wished everyone a Merry Christmas Eve eve and some people said that the eve before Christmas Eve is actually Christmas Adam….because Adam came before Eve. I had never heard this before and it gave me a little bit of a chuckle. Is that a new one for you too? Is there some secret eve before New Year’s Eve name I should also know about LOL! =)

I am sharing the final video and blog post of the year today. I wanted to let you all know about the January 2024, $5 pattern of the month. I’ve decided to offer Make It Modern as January’s pattern. You can purchase Make it Modern in my Etsy shop here. If you prefer a Paper version of the pattern, I would recommend purchasing sooner rather than later.

This quilt is available in two different sizes and I am sharing about both of them in today’s video. If any of you are a fan of Angela Walter’s quilting, the solids version was quilted by her and I show that in more detail in the video which you can watch here.

As you can see, solids work beautifully for this quilt but I also wanted to show you some other print options that I mocked up. I’ll share my favorite one first:

Make it Modern in Starberry

I really like this quilt in Starberry fabrics. As I was playing with different fabrics yesterday for this quilt, the design reminded me so much of Ribbon candy. I had to see what it would look like in my new Starberry fabrics. This would be such a quick to piece quilt for the holidays. Just a reminder, Starberry fabrics come out in May, 2024. Quilt shops can still place their orders for it so if you’d like to see it in your favorite quilt shop, be sure to let them know soon! The selling period is just about over. I kind of want to make this one again for myself in these fabrics…imagine it backed in a minky fabric…so cozy!

I also mocked it up using some of the blues from Peachy Keen which I think is pretty as well. Peachy Keen is in quilt shops right now.

And lastly, here’s what it looks like in Strawberry Lemonade by Sherri & Chelsi:

It has a very similar palette to my solids quilt but so pretty in those prints. Strawberry Lemonade fabrics come out in January.

And finally…about that giveaway winner:

The winner is Nadine Merrick who said:

Congrats Nadine!–I’ve already sent an email your way.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Thanks so much for stopping by! Corey

I had trouble with opening your post because google kept an ad on that I could not get rid of. I finally had to say I didn’t want to see the ad, it was suppose to close but didn’t, so then I refreshed and finally got to see your blog. Technology isn’t fun sometimes.

Thank you for leaving this comment! It’s always helpful for me to know what might be causing a problem. I am almost always viewing my blog on a computer–I find it more user friendly than viewing on my phone or ipad. And I couldn’t agree more about your technology comment!…when it works it’s great but sometimes it causes some fuss!

Thanks so much!…I love a good tea when I am sewing. I’m especially fond of Chai—it’s such a cozy drink for this time of the year. But I also like it iced in the summer.

Christmas Adam is new to me too but makes sense! My husband and I were married on Dec 30 and we have always told people we got married on the Eve of the Eve — our personal name for that date. 🙂 Happy New Year to you, Corey, and your family and to your readers too!
