March Pattern of the Month
Good morning Friends! I hope you are all having a wonderful week. Here in Ohio, we’ve gone from beautiful 70 degree days at the start of the week to chilly, rainy days now. Those warm temperatures are out of the ordinary for us but I’ll take them any day!
I wanted to pop in and let you know that Joy Filled is the March pattern of the month. This pattern is normally $14.95 (it’s a longer pattern with all of those different blocks). For March, it is on sale for $7 in both the Paper and PDF formats.
I will have a video up later this month showing Joy Filled and I’ll also be sharing another blog post with re-colorings of the Joy Filled quilt in current fabric lines.
I used Buttercup & Slate for my Joy Filled quilt and a quick google search shows that it’s still possible to purchase a fat eighth bundle (which is what this pattern requires).
The Joy Filled quilt finishes at 60″ x 72″ and is an intermediate level quilt pattern. I enjoyed piecing this quilt pattern because of all of the different blocks. It kept things interesting! You can purchase the pattern here.
I hope you all have a wonderful Thursday! Corey
Cheater prints seem to be popping up a lot lately (& I missed yours from this line 😭). Any chance there will be more of them from your upcoming lines?
I googled the Granny’s Flower Garden print from Buttercup and Slate this morning and I could still find shops with it available if you wanted to snag some. =) I don’t have another print like this one planned for any of my upcoming lines but I do have some other fun things planned. =)
Thanks, Corey. You always have wonderful things planned for your fabric lines!
Good morning! I purchased this pattern awhile back and can’t wait to start. I was wondering if you could do a mock-up in “Dawn on the Prairie” fabrics when you blog some options? 🙂
I can!…I’ll do my best to remember. =)
Hi Corey! I was wondering if you have an in-person quilt shop? I may be driving through Ohio and was planning FUN! I love your patterns and currently am working on Wooly Stars. Debbie
Hi Debbie!…no, I don’t. But the shops in the area carry my fabrics and patterns. I shared a blog post about some of the local quilt shops awhile back: https://corianderquilts.com/local-shops-and-restaurants-to-visit/
Hi Corey, do you have regularly scheduled posts? I thought I saw you on Saturdays but not last. I don’t want to miss anything so will you tell what your regular posts are? Thanks. J
My YouTube videos are typically every Saturday unless something comes up. You can subscribe to my channel to receive notifications of new videos. You can also subscribe to the blog here so you don’t miss any of the posts here.
Hi Corey, I made my Granddaughter ‘s wedding quilt with Joy Filled pattern using Buttercup and Slate. It was beautiful. Every one loved it.
That’s such a nice gift!
Hi from Australia Corey
Have only recently found you and love love your work and youtube. Have just tried to sign up for blog emails but says I cant. Can you help?
Thank you! When I tried to enter your email address to subscribe you, I received a message that you have opted out of email subscriptions. This would be an email setting that you would need to update on your end. =)
Thanks Corey. Will look into it
Hi Corey
I Hope all is well with You and Your Loved Ones. We’ve had the same weather here in Michigan.
I’m ok at Math but I was wondering, Do You have a Simple formula for taking and 1) adding a border to a quilt
2) increasing the size of a pattern to a larger size? I’m cutting fabrics and going to use Your “Patched” Quilt Pattern for my Dad’s, John Wayne Quilt. But He wants or needs a King Size Quilt.
3) with the Quilt being King Size, and we live in Michigan. I don’t want the quilt to be to heavy but I still want it warm. What batting would You recommend?
Thanks for all the inspiration
Pamela Emery
I figure the math for borders each time I write a quilt pattern that requires them. To answer your second question, the easiest way to make a quilt larger is to add additional blocks or borders or a combination of both. And for your 3rd question, I would think a cotton batting or a bamboo batting might be nice. The bamboo batting will be less warm than the cotton batting.
Will I have enough fabric if I use a layer cake
