Moda Block Heads Block 11
Look what a beautiful block we have for block 11 of Moda Block Heads round 3. =)
This block is brought to us by Robin Pickens and you will find the free block pattern on her blog.
For my block, I used a rainbow of colors from a number of my different fabric lines. If any of these fabrics catch your eye and you’d like the collection information, leave a comment asking and I’ll be sure to let you know.
In both rounds of of Moda Block Heads some of my favorite blocks were the ones that I made in rainbow order:
If a Moda Block Heads round 4 rolls around, I may have to do a whole sampler of rainbow order blocks. I think that would be so pretty!
The only change to the cutting instructions that I made to this week’s pattern, Blooming Love, was to cut the squares for my triangles oversized so that I could trim them down.
Here are my blocks, 1-11:
They are coming together so nicely. It is so nice to have these weekly, cheerful blocks to work on right now. I hope you are all staying healthy and well! Be back soon, Corey
I love your idea of a BH4 and making rainbow order blocks! How much bigger did you cut your squares to oversize for HSTs for cutting down?
They were supposed to be cut at 2 3/8″ for the 6″ size and I bumped it up to 2 1/2″. You just bump it up a little bit, usually only an 1/8″ is all you need. Plus 2 1/2″ is easier to cut than 2 3/8″. Here is a post that I did on how to figure out what size to cut HST’s: https://corianderquilts.com/moda-block-heads-block-6-hst-math/
I love your block 11. So very pretty ❣️
Thank you so much!
I love this block . . . I may have to make it instead of just saving the pattern . . this seems to be happening more and more. I can see this as a runner or small wall hanging. Love the St Patty’s idea too. This is my first time with the Blockhead blocks.
You are right–this is a very versatile block. And, as I am seeing them pop up, it’s a block that looks beautiful in so many different colors and fabrics.
I love your fabric choices! Which ones did you use??
Thank you!–there are fabrics from Sugarcreek, Sunnyside Up, Apricot & Ash (comes out in August), Canning Day, & Strawberry Jam in my block.
