Moda Block Heads Block 20

Moda Block Heads Block 20, Contribution

Good Morning and welcome to week 20 of Moda Block Heads Round 3.  Today our block, Contribution, is brought to us by Lisa Bongean.

You will find the PDF to download the pattern on Lisa’s site.  I always look forward to Lisa’s blocks–they never disappoint. =)

Block 20 by Lisa Bongean

For my block, I used a mix of Sugarcreek and Canning Day.  I liked that blue Sugarcreek Woven so much the last time I used it in one of my Block Heads blocks (and it wasn’t that long ago) that I wanted to use it again right away.  Here’s the other block I used it on:

I just love that little bit of texture it adds to the block.  This is one of the reasons that I enjoy mixing in my Sugarcreek wovens here and there…because of that texture!

If you use a bit of starch when working with the wovens they won’t fray as much and it gives the fabrics more body.  You can easily see in my photos above that I used starch on the block with all of the flying geese but not with today’s block.  They will definitely fray more without starch.  But it’s nothing a little bit of trimming won’t fix.

They also make the dreamiest, summer quilts because they are so lightweight and airy.  We’ve had almost 90 degree weather here the last few days–which is hot for Ohio in May.  I start pulling out my lighter quilts this time of the year. =)

I hope you guys are enjoying your week and staying healthy and well!  Have a wonderful Wednesday. Corey

I was going to say that maybe you should have said that her blocks never disappoint.

Yes that is much better … 🙂

The colors and pattern are very nice; however, I really don’t like using loosely woven fabrics for my quilts!

Thank you! You definitely don’t need to use wovens if you don’t prefer to–we have so many fabric choices. Because I make so many quilts in a year, often 20 or more, I love having all of those options available to use as I’d like.

Do we have a Block Head block 21. I didn’t receive anything on Wednesday. Hope all is well!

Hey Friends!--I'd love to hear from you. =)
