Moda Blockheads Round 5: Community Star Block
Look who came rolling in just in time to make it into this weeks’ Moda Blockheads pictures. =) Tiggs is going to be joining me in sharing about our new block this week.
Community Star is our block this week brought to us by Robin Pickens.
You can find the PDF block pattern here.
This block might be my most favorite of all of the blocks so far…as a matter of fact, sitting here typing this up and looking at that pretty picture, I can say with confidence that this one is my new favorite. =) Now, that might change as we keep making these blocks but I just love how this one turned out. =)
Tiggsy gives it his “paw” of approval. =)
And he also gives it “two paws up”. =)
He was also delighted to help show what the pressing looks like on the back. Woopsie!…a little too helpful there Tiggs! =)
There, that’s better (thank you for moving to the side Tiggs!):
Everything nested nicely for me. I did opt to press those final two seams open so the points of the square-in-a-square blocks would lay nicer.
I think it’s such a pretty block! I’m still really enjoying the Peachy Keen & Blueberry Delight mix of fabrics that I’m using. The two collections play so nicely together. I hope you enjoy sewing your Community Star block together this week! It’s a bit more piecing than some weeks, but so worth the extra effort. =)
Have a wonderful Wednesday! Corey
I love Tiggs and your narrative! So cute!
I agree, Corey, that is a gorgeous block. Yesterday I finished my Sunny Patches quilt. LOVE IT! Another terrific QAL, Corey. Oh my, Sweet Tiggs, that got my day off to a wonderful start.
I love it when Tiggs photobombs your blocks. This block is lovely and Peachy Keen is a gorgeous line of fabric but Tiggs is the most handsome of all.
Oh, Corey, as soon as I opened my email I knew this was my favorite block so far. As I began to read I realized that you felt the same way. You always inspire me and are one of my favorite fabric designers. 😍
Always happy to start my Wednesday morning with a beautiful block AND a fun Tiggs moment or two!
The block is beautiful! Tiggs is hysterical!
I love this block! And your colors are soooo pretty!
Great block! Tiggs will soon demand that his picture be included on Coriander Quilts products. 😻
Today’s block is lovely and thank you Vanja Tiggs!
Vanna Tiggs
Beautiful block and kitty. I wonder if Tiggs is attracted to the heat that the lights give off. He might enjoy a heated cat bed.
Love this block
Tiggs makes me think of my sweet Theo, a orange and white big guy! I don’t have sewing cats now, but three dogs who help me by occupying all the floor space in my little room. Luckily they can’t get on the table! I think they will agree this week’s block is a winner and may get more than one version! Thsnks for your ideas and inspirations!
Well done Cory, I love it, and well done Tiggs too.
I’m with Tiggs on this one. Two thumbs up! Especially when made with Peachy Keen fabrics. I can see this one made up in an entire quilt with this fabric. Yummy!
Hi Cory. All of your takes on the blocks are sooooo pretty. They look so nice in the Peachy Keen. Tiggs seems to agree.
Hi Corey, thanks so much for all you do! I love watching your videos and getting inspiration and instruction from you. I’ve been in a quilting slump the last couple of years (yikes!) and reading your posts & seeing videos has really helped me feel like getting going again. Now to clean up my sewing area (aka kitchen table) and get my machine fired up again!
And, of course, LOVE the Tiggs tidbits. We’re a big cat-loving family, and it’s entertaining to see other cats doing their thing!
So Corey
Next we would like sound effects from Tiggs. Is he a Bass or Baritone when he Meow’s.
Seeing Tiggs on your posts just makes my day!
Looking good Tiggs! Mama must love you lots 🥰
Tiggs the KittyKat looks very Handsome. Corey’s Use of Colors is amazing. I learn a lot about color placement.
