Moda Blockheads Round 5 (Group 2): Blocks 2 & 3
Whoops-a-doodle! Some of you saw my oopsie last week when I posted the wrong Moda Blockheads block! I thought I had my ducks in a row but apparently one of them veered off track. =)
I didn’t have time to get the correct block made last week and re-posted so today I am sharing both my All Stars block (which should have been last week’s block) as well as Shimmer Star (the block for this week). First up, let me share All Stars brought to us by Lisa Bongean.
You can find the block pattern for All Stars here.
If you watched my Saturday Sewcial video, you’ll have gotten a peek at my setting plan for this round of Moda Blockheads. I decided to start working on some of the 12″ blocks that I’ll need to make. Those require a medium blue outer edge to work in my setting.
I will still need some more 6″ blocks but it was a very nice change of pace to switch to the 12’s for a bit!
For this week, our block is brought to us by April Rosenthal. It’s called Shimmer Star and it went together quickly (again I went with the 12″ size).
You can find the pattern for Shimmer Star here.
I made sure to keep that outer border primarily medium blue. Since I am mixing together all of the blocks from Round 1 with Round 2, I am still using a mix of Peachy Keen fabrics and Blueberry Delight fabrics. One tip I have for piecing this block is to gently press a center line in the C triangles. This allows you to use the center line when sewing C together with the D/E triangle.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Corey
Your Peachy Keen fabrics are so beautiful with these blocks! 💙🧡🤍
Thanks so much Julie!
You gave us a head start on a block for later, and yet I haven’t gotten it done! lol Seeing your blocks I realize I picked the wrong FQ bundle from my stash, I don’t have enough light/dark variety. Next year I may just copy you.
It was fun mixing the two bundles together because I could choose the fabrics that I wanted to use. =)
My ducks aren’t in a row either, in fact I’m not even sure they’re all ducks. We are looking forward to really seeing the block you posted last week.
Ha…maybe that was my problem too! =)
I LOVE, love, love your blocks in these fabrics. I can’t wait to see your finished quilt with your setting. Thank you for the tip of pressing a line in the C blocks!
They’ve been so much fun to sew!
These are beautiful blocks – and fabrics! Thank you for sharing! ❤️. Stay warm!!
You too!…it’s chilly out there!
I’m pretty sure I have rabid squirrels instead of ducks, and they are definitely not in a row!
Thanks for the tip! I’ll keep it handy for when the squirrels quiet down and I can sew.
Ha!…those squirrels sometimes get a little “squirrely” don’t they! LOL
Just love your blocks and those two fabric collections work together so well.
Love, love, love these Peachy Keen blocks!!! I need number 1 of the new season of Moda Blockheads 5. Not sure how I missed it and wondering where I can find it. I promise you I follow all of your blogs and emails! Thanks! Devonna Tabor
