Not Quite a Sawtooth Star Quilt Block

In today’s video, I am sharing a tutorial for a Not Quite a Sawtooth Star block. This is a great block to make if you want to make sure you don’t lose any of your star points. The free block pattern download is below.

Download the PDF instructions here.

Here’s a super simple quilt layout using this block:

You can make these blocks as scrappy (or non scrappy as you like). It’s a fun, simple block to make and a great one for fussy cutting the star center.

You can watch the video here.

Some other topics covered in today’s video: Cookbook update, a favorite water bottle, new Art Gallery Wovens, perhaps my favorite viewer quilt share, answering Abloom fabric questions (it will be in quilt shops next month!), plus the aforementioned block tutorial. Hope to see you there! Corey

    Corey,
I love this block! I’m terrible with stars, but I love how they look. Two questions:
Could the cross-stitch new Abloom panel blocks work for the fussy-cut centers?
Do you have a pattern for the quilt? I would like to know how much fabric is required for the entire quilt.
    Thanks!

If you watch the video today, you’ll see the size of those panel motifs…I talk about them quite a bit today. You would need to enlarge the star block if you wanted to use the panel…which would be pretty!

Thank you for the Sawtooth Star block. I had forgotten how easy this block is. I have several baby quilts to make and the quilt shown on on the blog will be perfect.

Love this block! I want to do a patriotic quilt with this star pattern. I have a charm pack & a jelly roll and trying to figure out how to adjust the sizing to accommodate. Thank you for the inspiration! I look forward to spending time with you every Saturday!

Thanks Corey! This is such a fun block! I have instructions for this block with a 4″ center and think it would be fun to combine the two slightly different blocks in a quilt. As always I am a big fan of your fabric and patterns1
