November $5 Pattern of the Month

As you can see from the image, today’s video is full of so many quilty things. Additionally, I am sharing your vote for the border color on that Cupcake Mix quilt I shared a couple weeks back along with the finished quilt, a piecing tip, what do I do with all of my Fat Quarter bundles, and an interesting viewer comment.

Now about that $5 pattern for November…it’s Star Twist. You’ll find the pattern in both PDF and Paper versions for $5 in my Etsy shop this month.

In today’s video, I am sharing a tutorial on how to piece one of the blocks. If you’ve wondered if it’s tricky or not, now is your chance to see exactly how to piece a block.

My original Star Twist quilt was made using Beautiful Day. I’ve also recolored it using some upcoming fabric lines. First up is Cali & Co. These fabrics will be in quilt shops later this month possibly into early December.

The next recoloring I did was using Abloom fabrics.

Abloom fabrics will be in quilt shops in the spring. You can ask your favorite quilt shop to order them. The ordering period for Abloom is open right now but will be closing within the next couple weeks. So if you want to see these fabrics in your local quilt shop be sure to let them know now so they can get it ordered. =) Star Twist is so soft and pretty in Abloom…plus, look at that sashing/border fabric. =)

And lastly, in the video, I mentioned that I wanted to try out the pattern in a fall line. I decided to try it out in Pumpkin Spice Gatherings. This was the fall line I shared in the giveaway video last week.

Pumpkin Spice Gatherings also comes out next spring. What a beautiful traditional quilt Star Twist makes in this line!

If you’d like to purchase the Star Twist pattern for just $5, stop by the Coriander Quilts Etsy shop this month.

I hope you enjoy today’s video…have a wonderful weekend! Corey

Oh I love seeing the Star Twist in other lines. I was thinking about making it in the Starberry line. I think it would be beautiful. I am very anxiously awaiting the release of the Abloom line. I can’t wait to create with that gorgeous collection. It is definitely one of my top 3 favorites that you have designed. I love it!

I enjoy your videos each month. I have started to collect your fabrics and use them often in my quilts. All of the lines are so refreshing and I like how all the lines can be used together.

I love the pumpkin spice option. Could it be because it’s Fall in Ohio!?

When I looked at Star Twist, my first thought was Christmas fabrics. I think it’s so interesting how we can envision a pattern in so many different color ways. Sometimes the fabric inspires a pattern, but this time the pattern inspired my fabric choice. I just love the art of quilting.

Hi Corey – I got into quilting accidently (I worked part time at Joann Fabrics when I retired from my real job) and they told me to work in the quilting dept. I looked at them as if they had lost their mind as I flunked home ec in school. LOL! I’m serious. Well 2 lovely ladies one I worked with and one that was a member of a quilt guild that the first one encouraged me to join, helped me get addicted to quilting. The 2nd lady taught me a lot, and one of the things was to always label your quilts. Well, years ago I was diagnosed with a medical condition and was just lost, and then decided that I would make quilts for people – family and friends – or for those who just needed a “hug”. My quilts are not show pieces, they are to be loved. On the back of the quilt, I make a label row – I try to use up my excess fabric by making a couple of extra blocks to go in this row. The rest is usually normal backing in whatever dimensions I need. The label contains the name of the quilts, the recipient, the reason, and my name and the date the quilt was made. I have done quilts for the grand girls for several occasions, and several QOV for the veterans in my family and some family friends and they contain the rank and the dates of service. So, while it is extra work, I have found that the recipient really appreciates the extra effort and that way I’ll remember when I made it as I keep pictures of my finished quilts before they are sent on their way. I just purchased the Star Twist pattern as I think it will be a great pattern for my middle granddaughter and her cousin (both the same age) to make a quilt from and maybe we can raid the scrap bin and they will have their own treasure to cherish. Thanks Corey for just sharing you with us.

I love Start Twist! I made mine in Starberry, which became a sample in The Little Red Quilt House in Medina, Ohio. It would be awesome in the other color palettes too! Happy quilting everyone 💕

I love when you showed the star block with all blue shades. That is what encouraged me to get the pattern. It’s really pretty!

I love the recoloring you did for this quilt. The deep coloring of the pumpkin spice really caught my eye.

Love this pattern! I have some of your beautiful fabric….I am going to preorder your new line from Fat Quarter Shop. I have a binder almost full of your pdf quilt patterns.

I was going to buy the PDF version of Twisted Star, but it’s sold out. Which I don’t quite understand. I prefer PDF patterns as well as no shipping cost. The shipping raises the cost quite a bit, especially since I’m in Ohio. I’m new to your products, so I’m disappointed.

Hey Friends!--I'd love to hear from you. =)
