PTS Round 3
As we all know, I was excited to participate in the Pillow Talk Swap for round 3. And I was lucky enough to receive the very talented Ariel of Ariel Quilts for my partner. You really need check out some of her yummy fabrics in her Etsy Shop. She creates her own fabric through spoonflower & they are really so cute–I own a couple of them and they are just darling! =)
Anyway, Ariel requested a pillow made in orange/aqua with splashes of brown and green for the upcoming arrival of her new baby boy. She wanted a retro feel pillow to be used in his nursery.
Here’s the little stack of fabric that I settled on. Mostly Denyse Schmidt fabrics from her Flea Market Fancy Line, Katie Jump Rope Line & Hope Valley Line.
I decided I was going to use some hexagons in my pillow as she had various hexagons pictured in her inspiriation mosaic. These were actually the hexagons that started all of the other hexagons I have posted about recently. They are fairly small about 1/2″ or so.
And I knew as soon as I saw this tricycle pattern on flickr that it would be perfect for this pillow. Ariel had also mentioned that she liked embroidery. It also gave me a perfect excuse to hike on up (well, ok, hop in the jeep and drive on up) to my local stitching place and browse their wonderful embroidery floss. I think they have everything–it’s is such a wonderful rainbow of goodness. =)
And the finished pillow. It finished out at about 14″.
Ariel, I hope your new little son enjoys the addition to his nursery!
I think it is adorable! It is perfect for a nursery but I see her son liking it for quite sometime after as well.
I love the tricycle.
Beautiful! Ariel is a lucky gal. That turned out super!
Your stitching, quilting, designing, and hexagons are all fabulous! Lucky Ariel!
Beautiful stitching and your hexies are a treat.
I just saw that pillow on Feeling Stitchy, and fell head over heels with it! That is one of the most gorgeous color and fabric combinations I've seen. It's just LOVELY!
This pillow is absolutely adorable!
