May Bee Wrap up
Yes, I know that I am running a little bit behind. But, better late than never! =)
In the Hip 2 Bee Square bee, Kerry asked for blocks to make a quilt for her fishing/beach loving little 3 1/2 yr. old little boy. She sent wonderful fabrics in aqua and orange and asked for improv Log Cabin type blocks. She sent so many beautiful fabrics and plenty of them. I so hate when I have the perfect idea and not quite enough fabric to make what I would like. Her fabrics were just perfect! I had to applique a fun little “octupus/squid” in the middle and then fussy cut some of the fun Heather Ross fabrics that she sent. This block was so much fun to make!
This is actually an April block for the Red & Aqua Bee. This group has been running a tad behind–we took June off so, now we should be ready to go for July. For April, Lisa asked for string quilts using of course Red & Aqua.
The first block I made for the A Quilting Journey Round Robin Bee was for Sara. She sent a paper pieced Mariner’s Compass starter block and requested coordinating blocks no larger than 10.5″. She is using a fun mix of batiks for her blocks. It was fun using these fabrics as I have them in my stash but, honestly have never used them. =)

For APOWA, Shari requested wonky square in square blocks featuring a fun VW Heather Ross print. She is also making a quilt for her son using these blocks. I had to add in the little Riley Blake print–the colors are a perfect match to the colors in the VW fabric.
Kelly was up for May in the Scraptastic Quilting Bee. She sent us each the wonderful linen fabric and the newsprint fabric along with just a couple smaller scraps of fabric & asked for wonky house blocks. This is what I came up with. I have such fun making those little wonky trees–I decided I had to add one to Kelly’s block.
And lastly, for the Sew New To Me VQB, Kim sent a bunch of Heather Ross Mendocino fabrics and asked for more simplistic/wonky blocks paying special attention to the details in the fabric. These were also super fun fabrics to work with!
All of your blocks are fabulous! You have such a good eye for color and complementary design.
Gosh, that's a lot of sewing bees but you have made amazing blocks for each one.
You certainly have been one busy little "bee"! =) Love seeing what your work!
Is there a tutorial or pattern for the "Red Pepper Block"? I love how this one came out!!
Love the blocks. I plan on making a quilt for my nephew and this is giving me lots of inspiration. Thanks!
