June Bee Wrap-up or "A tribute to trees"

I guess that I only made two different tree blocks for my bees in June.  Perhaps it was that they were the most time consuming that has me feeling temporarily “tree-ed” out.  The block above was for the A Quilting Journey Round Robin Bee.  Lisa asked for any kind of block as long as it was representative of where we lived.  I chose “quilt on the line” (as I have been calling it) as I feel it represents the Amish community that I live in.

And the 2nd block I made in June for A Quilting Journey Round Robin Bee was for Vickie.  The blocks in this bee get mailed along about every 2 weeks or so which is why I have about 2 per month to create.  Vickie sent along two great owl fabrics which she wanted featured within the block.  She also wanted stars featured some way within the block and lots of bright colors.  She also didn’t want a solid backround.  I decided to do a string pieced wonky star–her starter block was a wonky star so, I decided to give my own spin on the block.

Spider web blocks were up for the Red & Aqua Bee.  As always a fun mix of these colors.

And, one of my favorite blocks for the Stash Busting Bee International–this wonderful Red Pepper Quilts block was requested by Adrienne.  We used blues/greens from our scrap bin to make these wonderful blocks.  I always love the way this one turns out!

My 2nd tree block was for the Hip 2 Bee Square bee.  Jan asked for blocks featuring an adorable owl print that she fell in love with.  She is making the quilt for herself and asked for fun wonky houses/trees/log cabins etc.  As soon as I saw the owl print I knew I wanted to fussy cut it to use as branches on a tree.  What a fun block this turned out to be! =)

In the Sew New To Me VQB Katie sent along a variety of fabrics and asked for simple square in square type blocks with just a little something special.  She wanted the Liberty of London cars print featured within the block.  This is the block that I came up with.  I opted to go for a pretty simplistic block to really showcase the cars print.

In the APOWA bee, Mary asked for Sawtooth star blocks.  She specified that she wanted white points on one block and colored points on the other using the fabrics that she sent.  She had also precut the center square for us so these little blocks pretty much flew together.

And looky here!  I got to use my own tutorial(Stashbuster Block #2) in the Scraptastic Bee.  Jennie sent us each this wonderful black/gray polka dot fabric and we supplied all of the colorful bits from our stash.

And those are my June blocks—woowee.  It was a busy one but, now a couple bees are nearing an end or have ended so things can start to slow down a bit! =)
