Sewcialites Sew Along Block #8

Fall is in the air and this means my sewing machine might be getting more use.  Depending on the year, the colder months are the months that I get more sewing done.

I’m not sure if that will hold true for this fall/winter or not…it does take more time out of my day with both girls home for school.  I have so enjoyed having them both home though.  We have our moments of less than fun…when you spend so much time together sometimes you have those moments.  But, I much prefer having them home than having them away at school each day! =)  Anyway, I digress…on to our Sewcialites block for this week.

Our block this week is brought to us by Joanna of Fig Tree Quilts.  You will find the free block pattern here on the Fat Quarter Shop blog.  And just a reminder that you can find all of the blocks to date here.  As I have with my other blocks, I am using Spring Brook fabrics along with Moda Bella solid in Etchings Stone for my blocks.  Spring Brook comes out in January but I did see that early precuts have arrived to Canadian quilt shops this week.

And speaking of Joanna (this is my Friday favorite for this week)…my Instagram reminded me of this Fig Tree Quilts BOM I was working on two years ago at this time:

And another pretty little group of blocks from the same quilt:

It’s a fun sampler quilt featuring pretty little blocks, and the most adorable little woodland creatures.  I have most of the blocks made but still need to assemble it into quilt format. =)  Joanna has since released the BOM as a pattern…here’s what my quilt will look like when I get it finished (the background will be the lighter gray/black you see in my blocks above):

I wanted to share in case any of you were looking for a fun holiday project.  Check with your local quilt shop to see if it’s something they might be carrying.

I hope you all have been enjoying your fall.  We have been blessed with the prettiest weather this week.  Earlier this week we had temps close to 80 and we even snuck off to my sister’s creek for a little bit of afternoon fun.  My youngest daughter, Elonie, loves playing in the water and she was having a little dance party.  She said the water was freezing though!…but what can you expect in November in Ohio!

Have a beautiful Friday!–and enjoy your weekend. =) Corey

What grey background did you use for your winter wonderland BOM?
