Sunday Happenings
I really enjoy a good fabric hunt–thrill of the chase, divide and conquer and all that jazz. So, when I saw the above fabric in purse form at a local shop and I really liked it, I wondered if I’d be able to find some of my own. Admittedly it was a Vera Bradley purse which aided me greatly in my online search-a-thon (actually a quick search on Etsy did the trick). It arrived yesterday & I think it is just lovely–I have already incorporated it into it’s very own fabric stack.
Incidentally, does anyone have any great fabric suggestions to coordinate with the lighter purple in the fabric? I’ve got plenty of the darker purple but not so much on the lighter purple. I know I have a Liberty of London fabric stashed somewhere that would be perfect but I can’t find it for the life of me. Or, any suggestions for the blue?–it’s kind of a denim blue–not too far off from the blue mono pez or the blue daisy fabric from the Peas & Carrots line of fabric. My fabric stash leans more towards aqua blues.
I also started, and finished, the quilting on a Strawberry Fields quilt today.
You may recognize these as the blocks I had to sew twice… =p
I plan to have a tutorial for this quilt on my blog sometime in May probably. It’s a fun quilt that comes together pretty quickly as long as you have bobbin thread. =)
What a beautiful Stack of Fabric!
hehehehe I do that so often – get on a roll and realize who-know-how-many-blocks down the line that the bobbin had run out. The teasers look tantalizing!
Don’t you hate it when you run out of bobbin thread, it’s even worse when you run out of thread on the reel and you have to go buy some more just to finish one line of quilting;o)
I love the quilting on Strawberry fields and the colour you chose! Cant wait for the full reveal. It’s beautiful.
Love your floral fabric! Have you looked at Tula Pink’s Parisville? It has some pieces that are kind of pinky purple. What is the gray piece with the flowers? Fifth from the top. I love that!
Lovely collection of colours. The blue fabric as you probably know is by American Jane. Since Peas and Carrots they have produced 2 other ranges in similar colours. The range names are Wee Play and Punctuation. I don’t know if the patterns will suit what you have but I thought it might help. Can’t wait to see what you do with them.
I never thought of looking for the fabrics in Vera Bradley purses. I guess I thought they just designed their own private stuff, not to be used by anyone else. What’s the name of that one you found on Etsy? It’s so pretty!
great stack of fabric ~ starting to enjoy purple again. Looking forward to seeing more of your quilt along too.
What about the fairy frost in same silvery lavender color?
The new purple in Joel Dewberry’s Aviary 2 line might match it…there’s a dark and light purple in the print – I really love it. And maybe try Patricia Bravo’s Oval Elements – there are some really pretty shades of purple in that line too.
It looks so lovely. I can’t wait to see the whole thing, Corey.
Oh wow! I was JUST looking at a VB e-reader holder in that print. I loved it so much I took a picture. May I ask what the name of that fabric is or how you were able to search for it on Etsy?
Gorgeous fabrics!
Fabulous fabric…a little black spot on white fabric could look interesting with the floral!
can’t wait for that strawberry fields tutorial. you did a lovely job!
Great fabric!
Fabric suggestions: the blues in the DS Quilts line at Joann are denim blue. There is a blue gingham-y type print that might work.
Sweet Broderie by Rosalie Quinlan has a blue that might work too
Light purple:
Dolce by Tanya Whelan has some pink-y lavenders
I find some great small 30s repro prints in lavender
Lizzy House is going to be coming out with some cool lavenders at Market. I’m definitely getting some of those prints!
Good luck with the search. I think that is half the fun!
