All in a Row Blog Hop & Giveaway
First of all, thank you all so much for all of your wonderful comments on my blog post last week! I appreciated so many of you taking the time to share your thoughts. I responded to each one of you and it was such fun.
I was not surprised to hear that many of you enjoy reading blogs, especially on Friday evenings or over morning coffee. What did surprise me was how many of us are not on Instagram, Facebook or other social media spots. It’s understandable as we only have so many hours during the day and we need to be careful where we spend our time!
With that being said, I am excited to once again be blogging in this space. I have so many things that I want to share: my new sewing space, new fabric lines, new patterns…so many new things.
Today, I want to talk a little bit about the All in a Row Again book that was just released this fall. You might remember the first All in a Row Book…you can read more about that book here if you’re interested. Well, this is the follow up book–so you now have double the rows to mix and match to your heart’s content. Each row finishes at the same length but they vary in width(height) so you can really customize your quilt by picking your favorite rows. All of the rows are designed by Moda fabric designers or familiar faces.
I was excited to see my Springtime row featured front and center on the cover. We never know what the cover will look like until the book is printed so it’s always fun to see the reveal. Martingale ran a contest and allowed readers to vote on the cover for this book & I was excited when this cover was chosen. Here’s a peek at the other option:

This one is by Sherri McConnell. I always enjoy her quilt designs–and oh my goodness, have you guys seen her upcoming Moda Fabrics line? If not, you need to check out here. I really like how well Sherri & Chelsi’s lines of fabric play with mine so I’m always excited to see what they have coming up.
And this last row is by Jo Morton. Jo & I had wonderful conversations at Quilt Market last month. She is a wealth of information about hand quilting and you all know I love some hand quilting. We had a very in depth discussion about batting–every hand quilter needs to have a good batting! I love the design of Jo’s row:

I enjoy seeing the same blocks done in different color ways, how others choose their colors and values, etc. I like to see color as a tool rather than a trend. I seldom purchase fabric due to financial constraints and I look for sustainable color and design when I when I do. I thought you would like to be aware that I have invested in your last three lines exclusively for that reason——- thank you!
I love seeing new fabrics, new ways to do things, new tools and lots of tips. No politics, keep it all positive we are all here to support and learn.
I really enjoy seeing different blocks and colors come together, colors I never would have thought of putting together. I also love peeking into quilt rooms to get ideas on how to store fabric.
I really enjoy tutorials for quilts. The nearest quilt shop to me is 1 1/2 hrs away. I’ve never been able to get away to take a class so I love and am so thankful for blogs that offer tutorials. Thanks for the chance to win!
I would love to hear about how you design a fabric line…do you just start doodling? Do you have to use colors that are in the same family as your previous lines or can you do something totally unexpected just because you feel like it? Are you expected to design so many lines in a time period? How long from the time you think of a design until the bolt of fabric arrives in stores? This is my first blog to follow and I am loving it. I’m fairly new to quilting so I am now intrigued to purchase this book and challenge myself with something new. Hopefully there will be some tips and tricks on hand quilting as I am currently hand quilting a wall hanging before taking on a quilt.

Blogs are a way to see how the new fabric lines and patterns are being used. I also like the quilt alongs when they are shared in weekly steps so I can keep up with the group.
I love quilt alongs–I feel it keeps me moving along on a quilt. It’s just tough when I have a few going at the same time!

It is nice to read about the fabrics, quilt blocks and quilt tips. I really enjoy Moda’s blog with all the info about quilts, fabrics, the designers and of course the new books and notions and patterns. Really enjoyed following the blockheads and seeing all the fabrics and colors.
I think I like everything about reading the blog, but my favorite is probably looking at color and fabric combinations in designs. I am inspired by the creative combinations of others!

I enjoy quilt alongs and tutorials that offer more depth than social media can provide. Personally I find the volume of things shared on Instagram overwhelming, because it’s easy to send a quick pic. Multiply that by several designers you may follow and it’s just too much!
One of the things I look for in blogs that I follow are brilliant photos and fun things that catch my eyes. And of course the quilting tips and quilt alongs are fun bits too.

Tips always inspire me to try a new technique or revisit a pattern that I thought was too difficult. I also like to see what the bloggers are working on, their personalization of old favorites and development of new patterns.

My favorite thing about blogs is learning from others that is more than one way to make a block and I love learning what inspires quilters. I like a blog that is varied. I get bored if I always see, “look what I did”. I like to see a little of the blogger’s life, not an intrusive amount, but show me your 4 legged companion if you have one, let me go for a walk in the forest with you, etc. I do appreciate tutorials, though, as there are many ways to accomplish the same thing. Sometimes one way just doesn’t work for someone.
I enjoy the behind-the-scenes information and tips and all of the information about new fabric and patterns. I have a tendency to use similar colors and styles in my quilts so it’s great to see the infinite variety of quilts and projects out there. It inspires me to try new things and keeps me from falling too deeply into a rut.
I love to hear about an author’s quilting life/journey. What they love to do, how they do it, what problems they encounter etc. As though I’m reading something written by a friend of mine.

On a blog I like to read about the life of the quilter/designer. How they live there Day to day lives as well as learning more about their quilting process and techniques.
I like reading about new lines of fabric and new patterns. I like getting quilting tips and shortcuts. I also like reading about everyday life and the stories behind a quilt.
It is such fun seeing how each of us combines the rows to her(his) own quilt or hanging.
I love seeing other’s creative journeys when reading blogs. I love seeing new inspiration and new fabrics and new quilt patterns and QAL and quick tips and different ways to do things. I am one of those not on IG and I do not use FB for crafting info at all.
Sometimes seeing a quilt in a different color way will totally change your desire to make that quilt. Funny how color makes so much difference in how we perceive patterns and blocks.
I love to read (and see pictures of) people’s work spaces. Also like to hear about new techniques.

I just like to read anything and everything about quilters and what they are doing. I especially enjoy hearing about when things don’t go quite the way the quilter planned and how they coped (or did not cope) with that event. Sometimes I feel like everyone else has the perfect quilting experiences and I am the only one who messes up from time to time, so it makes me feel good to know that even the great quilters have their moments of frustration.
I really love to see quilters different color combos, and new twists on classic blocks. Also pics of quilters sewing rooms.

I enjoy all the creativity displayed in the blogs. I enjoy the QALs. I like seeing blocks in different colors and different settings. I enjoy all the things I learn from tips, etc.
It is the quilting and other art that encourages me to subscribe, but the reason I stay varies. The reason I read blogs varies depending on the blog. For some, I like to see all the creative projects they come up with, with others, I like to see what living in another part of the country is like, for others, I just like to see how the person is doing.
I love the fabric info, seeing how it’s used gives me great insight into how it’ll look in a quilt I do. I’ve always wanted to do a QAL but never actually jumped in and tried one.

I recently participated in a sew-along and discovered new quilters to follow on IG plus benefited personally from the scheduled “assignments”. I will soon complete a quilt I may never have tackled on my own.

I like to read about what books or patterns are catching our fancy, your creative process, how you overcome any obstacles in a block. I like to hear how you arrived here. I like tutorials but not just sales jobs, I like photos. I like to know just how you guys manage it all. There just doesn’t seem to be enough hours in the day.
It’s hard to keep up with blogs but I have a few favorites. I enjoy learning more about the artist and what inspires them. And I Love tutorials, tips and free patterns. I’m the newsletter editor for our guild and am always looking for new things to share. Thanks. I love your springtime block.
I usually get lots of inspiration seeing other people’s color and fabric choices. Tutorials and quiltalongs are fun and I usually pick up lots of good tips and tricks. A giveaway is always a fun surprise too.
I like the pictures. I have always been a visual person, even when I was sewing my own clothes, I didn’t like reading the instructions but could sew just by the pictures. I do enjoy reading the blogs and I like hearing about life’s stories.

quilt designers blogs always leave me in awe of how much you acccomplish as you create such beautiful things and still juggle famlies, pets, remodels, gardening, and life in general! Quite an inspiration!

I love getting inspired by the projects I see and how fabrics and colors are used.
I love to see finished quilts to see the designs that someone has chosen for the quilting. Blogs are also a great place to learn a new technique and find links to people you might never otherwise have come across.
I love seeing the projects. I’m always amazed at how many talented people are out there. Blogs help keep me inspired. I’ve made lots of friends through blogging too.

I like seeing quilt progress on a blog, helpful tips, and behind the scenes information. It is also a great way to “get to know” a blogger when they tell about their family a bit. I guess I like a bit of everything!

Ok, you asked what do we like about the blogs??? My answer is this, I like learning about the creators… where you get your ideas, what makes you tick… what inspires your creativity… it inspires me, to look closer at myself, to see what I miss or “am catching” to drive my own creativity and push to get things done! To see who you are. It’s like learning about your best friend… the ones that sets the cloth, writes the books, & puts the patterns in your hands, to give you a part in this wonderful creativity gift! Can’t get much better that that!

When you quilt it is hard to keep up with facebook. I am bit under the senior shot that almost sent me to the hospital, I did go back to Dr. so I have not felt like sewing. That is not me. I am doing Quiltmaker Rally blog of the week so here I am typing and finding your blog and the charity book. I make lots of charity quilts. I like to give to the receiver after some problems.
Blogs have introduced me to new designers, new techniques, new ideas! Horizon-expanding reading!!! I also like the added detail possible in blogs over FB posts and tweets!
I think I was first drawn to reading blogs when I began quilting and participated in stitch alongs. I learned so much that way. Birdie Stitches was one of my first and my granddaughter is now enjoying the quilt. It is so fun to follow along with the adventures of pattern and fabric designers.
