Blockheads Block 8

It’s week #8 of Blockheads.  This week’s block is an appliqued Pineapple block designed by Jan Patek.

I loved the applique blocks from round 1, they were some of my favorites in my sampler quilt…that little bee hive, pumpkin, flags, and the baskets are so cute.  I also really like the little appliqued house block from the last round.

But, for this round, I decided to do an all pieced quilt…at least that is what I am planning right now.  Who knows by the time the end is in sight if I will have followed through!  As quilters, it’s our prerogative to change our quilty minds! =)

For that reason, I made a pieced version of Jan’s pineapple block.  I’ve used fabrics from Pepper & Flax for my block.   How cute would a whole quilt of these little pineapples be?!?

You can find Jan’s applique version available for download on her blog.  If you’d like the pattern for my pieced version or the coloring page for the pieced version, I am including a downloadable PDF below.  The PDF includes both the coloring page and the pieced block instructions.

And here are all of my blocks together.

I love the way this quilt is shaping up.  The different sizes of blocks are going to make this quilt spectacular.  It is going to be the perfect compliment to the Round 1 quilt.

Thank you SO much for your alternate pattern! I like this so much better than the freeform appliqué pineapple pattern. Hope you’re having a great week!

Thanks for the pieced pattern. I just wasn’t up for applique this week. I have to say I’m enjoying this Block Heads quilt along. I had kind of lost my sewing mojo and this is fun without being overwhelming.

Thank you so much for this! I’m new to quilting and don’t know how to appliqué. This allows me to keep going on this quilt!

thanks for the alternative way. That’s what I was waiting for. I had not made my block yet, because I wasn’t excited about it…doesn’t fit my color plan and I’m having enough of applique blocks in Splendid Sampler which I’m also doing. I looked at the Instagram posts on this and found your plan. This version is perfect. Still not sure about the color way I’ll use, but something will come to me.
