Blockheads Block 9

And bam, just like that…it is August!  Waaah!–where is the summer going?  I think the summers go faster as you get older.

My mom used to have some sort of theory (maybe she still does) about why time seems to zip along faster as you get older.  The way she sees it, when you’re a year old (12 months) then a summer which is around 4 months would basically be 25% of your life–so it takes a lot longer to go past.  When you are 40 years old (like I am), a summer is only about 7% of your life.  It would only be 4 months out of 480 months–so it’ll go by a lot faster.  By the time you are 80, a summer will be less than 2% of your life–I imagine it will really cook by then.  How’s that for your Wednesday morning math lesson (and silliness).  =)

Perhaps we should move onto Block 9 of Blockheads.  I was tickled that this week was an easy block.  With a Plus by Laurie Simpson whips together in no time.  This easy block rolled around at just the right time.  I used two Sunnyside Up fabrics for this block.  I know you guys are anxiously waiting for these fabrics to come out–we’re a month closer.  =)  It’ll hit shops in November.

For the PDF pattern for this block, visit Laurie & Polly’s blog.  Here are all of my little 6 inch blocks so far.

And for those of you using the coloring pages each week, you’ll find it below.

And here are the rest of the Moda Blockheads designers.  Be sure to visit their pages each week to see what fun blocks they have made.  These sites are also great resources for piecing tips and fabric placement/suggestions in addition to the Moda Blockheads facebook group.

My son’s friend holds to the same theory about passing time as your mom, and I was just recalling it on Sunday (my son’s birthday). It was funny to read it here! And I do believe it. So, November should be here in no time since I’m older than you are.

These blocks are so much fun and I love the colorway you’re using.
Thanks for last week’s pieced pineapple…. I love the original one but i’m just not an appliqué fan.

Cannot wait for your next new line……
