Hand Quilting Video Series Part 1 of 4
I love hand quilting and I know that many of you do as well! Or maybe you don’t just yet, but have been wanting more information on how to get started.
I just released the first video in a series of 4 that I am hosting over on my YouTube channel about hand quilting.
You can find the video here.
In this first video, I share a bit about growing up in a hand quilting family and how I started hand quilting. I also share some of my hand quilted quilts and projects in a hand quilting trunk show.
Here’s a breakdown of the next 3 videos that will be released over the next several weeks:
Part 2: Hand Quilting Supplies
Part 3: Hand Quilting How To
Part 4: Simple Hand Quilting Project
Thank you so much for watching and have a wonderful Saturday! Corey
Hello, the Moda rep was at my sister’s shop yesterday and I got a sneek peak at your new fabric! It is so pretty – can’t wait to get some soon.
Thank you so much!
Wonderful presentation. Very much enjoyed it on a quiet Saturday morning. Thank You.
I’m so glad you enjoyed it!
What was name of quilt you just showed with flowers and canning jars? So cute.
It’s the Freshly Cut mini quilt. There is also a large quilt size. =)
Where do I find that pattern? Can I get a copy from you? Not that savvy on computer.
I have it for sale in my Etsy shop: https://www.etsy.com/listing/832144019/freshly-cut-mini-quilt-paper-pattern-171
I just watched your first video on hand quilting and loved it! I’m trying to figure out where to find the links for the patterns! Can you help me with that?
I figured it out!🤪
Wonderful!…I’m so glad you found it. =)
My first ever quilt that I made was hand quilted. It is a queen size quilt and my friend who taught me how said to enter it in the fair so I did not even knowing what happens at the fair and I received a blue ribbon! Needless to say I have been quilting ever since 2011 and have owned 3 longarms! Love love the quilting but dislike piecing lol. You are amazing and so is your family
Way to go!…You were off to a great start right from the beginning. =)
I’m so excited for this series! I have a large quilt waiting to be sandwiched with hand quilting, but I’m not quite sure how to start and pretty much intimidated by the thought of it!
It can be intimidating not knowing where to start. =) Hopefully this series helps you out a little bit!
Thanks, Corey, for presenting this series to us. I’ve been a hand quilter for 25+ years. I belong to a quilt guild of hand quilters and we sit around 10 foot quilting frames and quilt and talk. Such fun. Never too old to learn new things.
Quilting bees are so much fun!
Loved loved loved this video. I love hand quilting. Growing up in southeastern KY everyone did hand quilting. No such thing as a long arm and many people thought if it was pieces and quilted in a machine, it wasn’t a real quilt! I was gifted two quilt tops made by a lady I called Mamaw. We were of no relation but she raised her grandchildren who were my age so I was there constantly. You have encouraged me to get one of those tops out and set up to start quilting this late fall/winter. I have everything I need as I have hand quilted pillow tops, etc. I just have to do it! Also, I have my husbands grandmothers quilt frame that hangs from the ceiling. Someday I hope to have a she shed to hang it in and use!
A hand quilting project for the winter is the best thing!
I love hand quilting.I go to the senior center every week and hand quilt with four other ladies.
That is so lovely!
Loved your video today, Corey. Very interesting and fun. The quilts are wonderful and the stories captivating. I hope to try big stitch hand quilting for the first time, so thanks for the motivation! I’ll stay tuned!
Thank you so much Melanie!
Hi Cory,
I loved your Trunk show on Hand Qulting and have watched more than once! I love hand quilting and have never been good at it and became frustrated with my not so perfect stitches. Your show has set a fire of desire for me. Where can I find the type of fabric you used the the thread you used for hand quilting. I have used your fabric and love sewing on it . The colors are very happy and bright. Thank for your upbeat enthusiasm and teaching methods. Any information is appreciated, Ann, from South Florida
Hi Ann!…thank you so much for your kind words! In the next video that I share, I will be talking about supplies. It is going to be a very informative video. =) I’ll be talking about threads as well as some tips on fabrics in addition to all of the other supplies you’ll need for hand quilting.
hi Cory, I absolutely love the idea of learning to hand quilt. Just hope my old hands and eyes can handle it. But i will definately give it try. I love the look so much. Your mother is amazing, such perfect stitches! Beautiful work! Thanks for doing your videos. I look forward to each one.
