Happy Birthday to Me! =) Final Giveaway Day

Pillows

Happy Birthday! <—– That’s for all of us May Birthdays. =)  I noticed in your comments that there are quite a few of us =)

Today’s giveaway is gonna work a little bit differently—it’s no secret that I love making a good pillow–so for this giveaway I am giving away a custom pillow designed just for you. =)

You will have one entry into this giveaway.  In your entry tell me what kind of pillow you would like:  design, colors, ideas, fabrics etc.(this can be as basic as a color combo you are digging or more complex–specific fabric lines, pillow patterns etc.)  I will choose the entry I am most inspired by and will make a pillow based on your design ideas.  Here’s the catch…..I will be making and sharing the pillow on my blog:  fabric choices, design ideas, sneak peeks etc. –you will not know the pillow is yours until it  is finished and revealed on my blog.  I always thing anticipation is the most fun part of receiving a gift—I think that’s probably the reason I have year old gift certificates just waiting to be spent LOL! =)

So, put your thinking caps on and if you’d like to enter leave me a comment with your design ideas.  You can enter thru Friday, May 20–but, the winner won’t be announced until after the pillow is completed. =)

Have Fun!

WOW Corey you never cease to amaze me. I would love a pillow designed by you. I have loved that cathedral window pillow you made since you first posted it. But particularly the little birds. I would love something bright and cheery with some of those cute little birds.

  2. What a marvelous idee! My birthday is on the 18th of May. So a few nights to seep. I’ll be 52 but i’m still enjoying the day I was born. I can’t sleep the night before and the day itself I can’t stop smiling. I don’t mind the years I’m counting maybe thats why I still like it.
I like warm colors, dots, vichy squares and flowers. My favorite colors are blue and red variations. The beautiful midnight blue, turquoise, burgundy, red raspberry. If Iám the lucky one, please suprise me with the design. I wish you a very good birthdayweek with fine memories.
    Happy greetings Anita

Happy Birthday!!! What a great giveaway – Pillows scare the crap outta me 🙂 I love your tricycle pillow.

My favorite color combo is orange, aqua and gray right now.

Absolutely NOTHING has those colors in my house. You walk into a 50’s kitchen to a 70’s dining room/living room, complete with dark paneling, to a 70’s office sporting some orange/brown/white shag carpet!!! wohooo. I HATE pink, and the bathroom and kitchen have pink formica and tile (I’m trying to go retro with the kitchen with pink and blue and red). My bedroom has grey paneling and black and white (well kinda gray and white now that a bleached my comforter) bedding.

I’m so not a girlie girl, kinda hate flowery fabric, totally into motocross and chainsaws 🙂 Much prefer to be outside getting dirty then to being inside watching soap operas.

I would love a chance to win a super duper “me” kinda pillow from you! Hope your birthday month is great!

  4. Mimi says:

I especially love that Cathedral Window pillow – jewel colours would be my choice!! Thanks and Happy Birthday (again!!)

  5. Jeanie says:

What a new idea for a give a way! I love your little birdies too, but I’d like “my” cats to join the birds too and any other forest critters. I have a carmel colored cat and a dark grey and white cat, both senior citizens and such joys in my life. I’m loving the moss greens and soft greens right now. Pieced, applique…whatever. This pillow would not be used, it would just be admired and I’d love to see my sweet cats surrounded by nature’s wonder and forest friends!
(I’m off to another May birthday party today. May certainly produced some wonderful people! Happy Birthday!)

  6. Jocelyn says:

Happy Birthday! The family room in our new home is decorated in blue and browns. So I’d love to see a pillow made up in those colors. Maybe something from Three Sisters (?)

  7. Linda says:

Wow, your pillows are so pretty. I think all of these are amazing and would love any one of them. If one was made for me I would love it and feel special! As for the design, hmmm. Well, I love the color blue in any shade. I have lots of blue in my home and its usually paired with another color. I have browns mixed with blue, reds mixed with blue, black mixed with blue and even green and pink mixed with a little blue. Not sure how that would all blend together but any combo would work for me. I’m easy to please 🙂

Thank you and Happiest of Birthdays!!

  8. Anna McD says:

I love that birdie pillow! how about blues and greens with some orange thrown in. Thanks for a chance to win! Happy Birthday

  9. Karen says:

Oh wow! What an opportunity… maybe you can help me with the dilema I’m having LOL

I have some ‘european’ pillows in my family room (65cm square, not sure what that equates to in inches). I want to make covers for them, I think I want the four of them to ‘match’ without being the same. So same ‘feel’ and same colours but not necessarily the same design or fabrics. So if you could design the first cushion, maybe you’ll get me started on the rest 😉

The couches are pine with light cream covers (but I’d like to re-cover them eventually), and my big lounge chair is chocolate brown, but the colour scheme we are going for in the room black, white and red (long story). The floor rug in the family room is half black and half red with white swirls on it. Currently the walls are white/cream but will probably eventually be covered in pictures and photos etc. I have white fabric to make the curtains (which will take up most of one wall). Being such large cushions they dominate the lounge quite a bit and will probably be used as floor cushions as well.

I like the idea of incorporating the black/red background and white swirls from the floor rug, but I also like geometric designs. I love pretty/soft designs like many of your cushions, but this room is eventually going to be the kids play area (bub is only 8 months old at the moment) so something that looks a bit young and fun would be good, also with that in mind, probably not too much white as they’re bound to get grubby.

Is that enough info for you? LOL

Thanks so much for the giveaways this week. I hope you’ve had an amazing birthday. I just wonder what you’ll do next time to top this one 😉

  10. Jessica says:

Okay…first off I have to say my fav colour is Purple! I know, shock horror! I can’t believe how many people hate purple!
I am about to start making a double wedding ring quilt for our bed, I am going to use Joel Dewberry’s Avairy 2 in Lilac/plum colour way. The only problem is I can’t decide what colour to use for the background….so if you pick me you might need to check my blog in a week or so. I would like something to go with the quilt, but not be too matchy matchy!
I love it when you get creative, like in the pillow with the dots and the bunting etc. So I don’t want to tie you down too much! Have fun!

  11. Cassandra says:

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Wow what a great gift your giving to one of readers on your birthday.

My color combo would be red, black, white and gray. Some diamond shapes….maybe an owl. Bunting? Oh I love your dandelion….ahhh and that mushroom. A mixture of all your pillows above since I’m indecision. 😀

    Have a great birthday!!!

  12. carolld says:

Wow, I would love one of your pillows. I adore what you do. My favorite colors are anything clear and bright! Something that shouts here I am look at me. I must be a bit of a show off. Oranges and reds would look great in my family room. That Joy pillow is darling.

  13. Jane says:

What a great idea. I love the bright, fresh colours you use, not normally ones I use myself. The animals and the mosaics you do are my favourite, the birds would be the sort my cats would cuddle with rather than bring home as pressies
Have a great day today, and thank you for such an exciting week

  14. Fiona says:

Your designs are just soooooo great… my most favourite is the circles with pictures inside …. so very lovely…. I am not a designer… and find it very difficult to think of anything original…. so I just thought what I love….. family, sunshine, stitching, flowers and birds, laughter and music.. and colours I love are rainbows…. some turquoise, a splash of red and strong teal green against a soft grey………
    Happy Birthday….
    Hugz

  15. jennifer says:

This is too fun! I like bright fresh feeling colors on white backgrounds (not unlike many of the designs above. I would want as many colors as you could fit- again, like the super colorful ones above. I don’t have much design preference, but i do tend to like geometric patterns. Man, now that i dreamed up this pillow here i REALLY hope I win!

  16. Kathleen says:

WOW… (my birthday is May 7th, by the way! 🙂 OK if I win…. I think I would LOVE a travel themed pillow for my guest room. Browns, icy blues, tans, white. Maybe postcards, or stamps, or maps…..

PS. Happy Birthday. I hope you don’t get what I got for my 50th last year…. A puppy… yup. I asked for an ipad…. I was not thrilled at first but she is adorable. A Golden Retriever I named PADi. 🙂

  17. Susan says:

After this week of giveaways we should be sending you birthday presents, not the other way around! Hope you have enjoyed this week as much as we have, and have a very happy birthday.

If I was the lucky winner of a pillow from you I would love one that incorporated oranges, blues, maybe a fussy cut and a wee bit of perle thread stitching.

Thank you for this week. It has been great fun.

  18. Liz M says:

Wow – amazing giveaway to end the week!
I’m having a bir of a love affair with Klimt’s paintings at the moment – I’ve made a Babette crochet blanket in the colours of The Kiss but would love a cushion based on one of his paintings! He uses rich colours in bold geometric patterns softened by organic shapes and occasionally some quite erotic touches! Hmm I might have to go and play with some scraps myself now!

  19. Sandy Norman says:

Wow happy birthday… LOVE the presents….thanks…

My choice… I LOVE bright and happy colours with any colour background…. I would LOVE the cushion to have a 3D affect… with LOTS of colourful flowers… Man would this put a smile on my face… It would make any room shine.. The border would also need to be just as colourful with lots of curves…

Thanks for the opportunity to design…

    Sandyn

  20. Amber says:

Happy Birthday! I am in pillow mode since I am planning some re-decorating in the living room and my bedroom. I love aqua, red and pink. However, Lately I have reallty been drawn to the more cheery colors (like the ones you used in your Joseph’s Coat pillow). I love anything hand embroidered, espcailly when it is combined with appliques and hexis 🙂 I would also love to make a pillow of all hexis (like Amy from Nanacompany) but would be even happier if one showed up in the mail. BUT I love surprises!!! I would be thrilled to wait in anticipation to she what you design!!!

  21. Great giveaway! I always amd drawn to linen, along with the red/aqua/white/pink color combo. I love hand stitching as well. I would love a cushion for my white slipcovered couch at the cottage that speaks of beaches, sunshine and summer fun 🙂

    Thanks!

  22. Jen W says:

Oh it’s so hard to pick from your pillows! They’re all so pretty.
But if I had to ask for one, I probably would ask for something
patriotic – red, white and blue. We’re redoing our sons’ room this
summer and first off is our oldest – he’s a little “special needs” and
his favorite is anything USA. He needs new bedding and I’m looking
for all things patriotic so – I think I’d pass my giveaway to him!
Thank you so much for the offer!

  23. Beatrice says:

Bright and cheery, bird, nature, flower…
Love your Cathedral window and Joseph’s Coat.
    Joyeux anniversaire, XO

  24. Ruth says:

What a giveaway! Hope you have had a great birthday.
I am drawn to large scale brights in small pieces and lots of text, typography on fabric draws me in every time, so the Japanese designers really have me drooling. I love hand stitching too, it’s something I’ve not yet learnt to do.

  25. Nancy says:

Happy Birthday! My birthday is next week 🙂

I have been oogling all the creative blocks on the Ringo Pie swap & love the idea of kitchen items. I am a vintage pyrex collector & would love to have a block designed with pyrex bowls or even refrigerator dishes! I collect both pink & aqua pyrex – mostly butterprint & solids. It would be fun to use different kona solids to recreate them.

Other fabrics favs of mine that may look cute incorporated into the pillow would be Metro Cafe, Cosmo Cricket Early Bird, FMF & DS Quilts. The more color the better!

Thank you for the chance – it will be fun to read everyone’s comments on designs!

  26. ktquilts4fun says:

Well, those are some stunning pillows. My favorite are the middle two, and the bottom in the mosaic. Closely followed by the last one. I love cheerful, springy colors. My favorite color is purple, but I love blues, yellows, pinks, greens, and aquas. I love modern design, old-fashioned beauty, and sentimentality. I guess this description doesn’t narrow much down, but that is okay. I love watching your creativity at work!! Oh, and one final note, the fruit that I have been working on this year is joy. (Hence, the love of the last pillow!)

  27. Dolores says:

How’s these inspiring words for a pillow. Fun, bright, anything goes.

  28. Oh my goodness. I love your pillows. I have awed over them for quite some time. I would simply freak out if I had a Corey original. As far as design, we are moving soon and so every room will have a fresh palette so colors are totally up in the air. I always make something for others though, so if I were to win, I would love something to go in my new sewing room. So something with a sewing room theme 🙂 That is about as specific as I would get because I love your creations 🙂

  29. mickie says:

Happy Happy Birthday, you talented girl!

  30. Dolores says:

I forgot to say that I am a follower and I really, really need new couch cushions in the living room. I am ashamed to look at them.

  31. Nancy says:

Forgot to add – love handstitching too!

  32. Sandra says:

    Happy Birthday!!
Wow your work amazes me, so bright and crisp, it would be such a pleasure to have some of your work.

It is going into winter here in Oz so my colours I would have are the burt oranges, yellow & rich pinks just like the summer sunsets with white background. This would hold onto those great harm days that I am going to miss.

I am not sure what the block is call but it like a squash circle/ring and the pillow type would be something that I could throw on the couch.
Thanks for you giveaway birthday week I have enjoyed. Sandra

  33. Kimie says:

I need something red, white, and black for my living room couch! As far as design, I love your stuff and will probably love anything you happen to come up with!

  34. Thank you so much for the week long giveaway!
Wishing you lots more lovely years filled with Health, Joy & Success!

  35. Ladybug says:

This has been such a fun week thank you for sharing your birthday. I would love to have you design a pillow for me. My favorite colors are green and blue. Paper piecing is a favorite technique of mine and I would love to see it combined with either appliqué or embroidery. As far as theme I love nature and a touch of whimsy. I hope I was able to inspire you because you have inspired me.

  36. gabriella says:

    Happy Birthdayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy ^__^

I love vintage fabric …. so …. color pastel and dots and 1930’s reproduction fabric.

I’d like to have your pillow …. with a spiderweb pattern … I love so much the combination of different colors and with a vintage fabric …. I think is absolutely FANTASTIC!!!!!

THANK YOU FOR THE CHANCE …. AND I hope you like my ideas ^__^

  37. Candice says:

Ok, my dream pillow would be like this… 🙂
A spring scene with a flower having the petals made from a dresden plate. There would be a hummingbird, or something fluttering around :), and maybe a ladybug or two on the flower leaves. Some grass down below and maybe some clouds or sun in the distance. 🙂 Ouu, ou, and definitely a couple of embroidered kids playing (or reading books on a blanket) in the backgroud too!!!
As far as colors, I adore happy colors- red, orange, pink, blue, aqua, green, lime, yellow, etc!
The scene would have to have some colorful sashing and then, of course, a fun back!
    Thanks for letting us dream…

  38. Belinda says:

What a generous (and industrious) person you are! Giving folks all these neat things when it’s YOUR birthday. Wow. I adore your cathedral pillow. If I had one I would like it mostly in aquas, browns, and white with a splash of red somewhere. Soothing with a pop if you know what I mean. I love the little birdies on the bottom of the one in the pic. Your talent amazes me.

  39. Tracee says:

Happy Birthday again now we have got to the actual day. I would love a Cathedral Window pillow in white with modern fabrics esepcially some of that lovely shabby chic yellow out in some ranges now. My house was painted late last year in a neutral with a lovely slight yellow tinge so now I am looking for a few highlights to give the rooms a bit more light & colour – yummy! Thanks for all the great giveaways. Even when you don’t win, it is great fun to enter & I have found out about some lovely new shops, designers & fabrics. Tracee xx

  40. Marcia Kosturock says:

If I won.. I would like my pillow to be a surprise! I would like the colors to be in beiges and tans and creme.. with maroon as the accent.. but I would really like for it to be a surprise.. and wow what a great giveaway!

    whooohooo!

  41. Gra says:

I would love a “rainbow bird pillow”, that is all I can say. it has to be your interpretation of that 8-))) !!!!!!
Happy birthday!!! And thank you for all the giveaways!!!!! It has been an amazing and fun week!! Greetings from Argentina!!

  42. First things first: HAPPY BIRTDAY!! (or FELIZ CUMPLEAÑOS, as I am writing from Spain).

You’ve read my mind. Just a while ago I was telling my husband I wanted to change the pillows in my living room. I have a global idea, but not the time to do it. And what I see in the stores doesn’t fit me because of the colors or the size (always too small). My idea is a white big pillow with something in different blues and maybe combined with yellow (although not necessary). I love the appliquées, but I’m sure any technique would be great. No idea of the design, just the colors.

Now it’s your turn. Thanks for these wonderful giveaways. Good luck to everyone.
    Debora (debora.aguirre@gmail.com)

  43. Marilyn says:

    Happy Birthday!
Thank you for all the great give aways!
My choice for a pillow would be something to go with the Birdie Stitches block of the month quilt I am working on. I am using 30’s fabrics for the sashing. I love all the color combinations you use!
A pillow designed by you would be a great thing!

  44. Jan says:

I’d like my pillow cover to be about books. Books, quilts and photos are what I love, after family. So books would be my choice. Please limit the amount of white, lots of color would be perfect. Thanks for the give away and getting my creative juices flowing.

  45. Sarah says:

Happy Birthday, again. Thanks for sharing the week with us, many folks won’t even admit when their birthday month arrives. The only other person I knew who partied for a week was my grandmother on her 100th Bday. There are only two things I collect- Lomonosov porcelain (very, very old Russian company) figures of animals (beautiful colors of ivory, caramel, tan and brown) and handmade pottery from Edgecomb Potters in Maine with an incredibly luminous blue and green glaze. So those are the colors I would suggest. Perhaps a geometric background, not solid, then with natural elements on top. Representative of leaves, trees, birds, forest animals or other natural elements. I also like embellishments, haven’t yet found a project that didn’t benefit from some antique buttons. A natural, vintage, yet elegant feel to the design. Thanks for letting me dream a little.

  46. I am a new follower who came over from Lynn’e blog (Lily’s Quilts). It seems I stopped by just in time to enter your giveaway. I would love a pillow with rainbow colors and linen. My favs right now are hexagons, stripes or dresden plates.
    Happy Birthday.

  47. Cherie says:

I love vintage fabrics and rainbows! 🙂

  48. What a birthday celebration week. How wonderful for you to have shared it with all us quilters. If I could have that special pillow made JUST FOR ME……weelllll.. I would, like a big herat in the middle . Hearts to me are the love within all of us. Then I would like somekind of a little vine with leaves (I love leaves) They, to me grow & weave around things & change colours & then return in the spring ready to start over , circleing our loved ones keeping us connected to THAT LOVING HEART. .That would be my pillow Red heart, shades of leaf colours.& a solid brown for that strong vine that has the strength to HOLD us together. My. but I did go on didn’t I. Blessings Birthday Girl. Dianne

  49. Suzanne says:

What a great idea for a final giveaway! I like nature, so definitely something with birds and trees and/or flowers on it. I have loved vintage 1930-50’s fabric for forever. One of my prized family objects is a wallhanging started by my Grandma, passed down thru my Mom to me-it’s a dresden plate hanging done in 1930-50’s fabrics. Hangs in my home proudly. Thank you for a wonderful week of intro’s to new blogs and artist! Happy Birthday!

  50. I’m having trouble getting this one to post, so I hope it doesn’t appear twice!
First of all, Corey, a very sweet HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! I am singing to you right now…. 🙂
Next, thank you so much for your lovely gift to one of your loyal readers….you are like a Hobbit, giving instead of receiving!
If I should be lucky enough to be chosen, I would love something to match my sewing room, where I spend most of my time….buttery yellows, soft/med greens, pinks, aqua and a touch of cherry red. You may choose the fabrics, I love flowers, paisleys, dots and fun little prints. I would love something from nature, such as a sweet bird or other critter, a mushroom, a tree, a gnome, flowers, etc, in whatever whimsical scene or arrangement you like! I hope I haven’t been too specific….just sharing my likes…I love everything you create! Thank you so much!

  51. Happy Birthday to you! What a generous idea to have a pillow designed. I have thought about making a cathedral window pillow that the interior fabrics would represent the great outdoors. I have two cats that spend the majority of every day looking out the window at the little squirrels running back and forth. My cats are KoKo and he is all black and Pearl is black and white with a large Pearl on her back of white fur. I think it would be so charming to have them represented with their little squirrel friends. I also thought of a tree or trees made out of cute little hexies along with the cats. I can just picture all of the different greens along with some splashes of color. For the topiary tree I can envision a plethora of colors to make up the container for the tree. Too cute!! I am sure that your interpretation would make this awesome!!

  52. Mary says:

I’d design a pillow for my grandson who is 17 months old. He’s the second child, the brother of a 3 year old girl who makes it known if she wants something so he often doesn’t get ‘it’. He love blocks and silver tea sets (he grabs my tea set and brings me ‘tea’ first thing when he comes over!) and cars and bubbles. I’m not sure how I’d incorporate all this in one design, though. I’m also not sure about color other than I’d skip pink for him but it would definitely be bright and have lots of contrast. This is a fantastic give-away for whoever wins – thank you!!! I hope you had a very wonderful birthday.

  53. Robyn Brown says:

I don’t have a design in mind per se but I’d love that red and aqua hexagon in the upper right of the picture. That would go so well in my daughter’s room.

  54. Your pillows are gorgeous! I believe a pillow in soft yellows and green with a dash of red would be pretty! For the design, I would add some type of whimsical flowers! It is easy to see that you are an artist, so I would leave it up to you with the small bit of criteria I gave. I’d be so thrilled to see what you would do!!! It’s my birthday on May 19, so it would be a great late birthday gift for me!!! 🙂 Thanks for a chance to win!
    kmassmanATgmailDOTcom

  55. MarciaW says:

Something similar to the top left pillow in Joel Dewberry’s Aviary 2 with lilac/purple and green colors. We like birds. Should I win, will let you have design freedom to add the Wow factor of surprise! Thanks for the lovely week of giveaways.
    HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

  56. rita says:

(clapping my hands real fast) how exciting!! i would gladly accept any of your pillows, but since it’s for me — here we go! 1930s, feedsacks, or vintage fabrics in a mixed variety of beautiful prints and colors with yo-yos, hexagons, and zig-zags!! what am i thinking?? i almost forgot the buttons and tiny appliqued apron or tea cup in one of the corners. i know — it would look like a zoo. BUT IT WOULD BE MINE!! thanks for this great opportunity!

  57. Rebecca says:

Wow, Corey! What a wonderful idea! I’m envisioning a pillow that combines some half-square-triangles with a bit of your beautiful embroidery work. Rainbow colors have been inspiring me so much lately with some bright white for contrast. Thanks for letting us all dream out loud!!

  58. What a fun idea! I would love to have a pillow that says ‘spring’! Embroidery, bright colors, a little twist~ like a cathedral window for the sun… 🙂 Thanks for the dream!

  59. Ruth B says:

My favorite pillow would be a cathedral window quilt using Kate Spain type fabric like Central Park. The colors are amazing and after a long, cold, dark winter/spring, this would brighten up my boring living room for sure! Thanks for the chance!!

  60. Sherry says:

What a great idea to finish your giveaway celebration. I have made several pillows but most have gone to new homes as gifts. I love the joy pillow you shared in this post. I find my joy in my family, my garden, and the Lord. I love birds and try to attract them to our garden. I have always loved the colors blue and yellow together, they are cheerful colors.

  61. Alisa says:

Oh…this is fun. First, Happy Birthday! Well, the pillows in my home are in the TV watching room. I would love to see a pillow with a modern family theme. For my family that would be six intersecting shapes (open to interpretation). I have 4 children (22,21,18 and 15) with the youngest being a boy. We are together often and i love it when they’re all home. The colors should be contrasting, just like my families personalities. i know this seems really specific, but I love your work and your ideas and would absolutely love what you come up with.

  62. Michelle McCright says:

I love your hexagon pillow. The color combination is one of my favorites.

  63. marcella says:

We are at the end of a house remodel. The only thing we are keeping in our upstairs is the living room rug. I’m just about ready to order the new couches and wouldn’t a pillow be the perfect fit? The colors are not what you’re used to working with I bet (heck, they’re not colors I’m used to working with) but we love the rug so there you go. Tan, sage-y green, cranberry, and a hint of bright blue.

  64. Shelley C says:

I think I’d like a pillow with a word or words on it for the guest room. Something fit to welcome guests and make them feel at home. The room is an open pallet right now with white/off white in it…I’d like to introduce coral colors in there to excite the the eye. It is a small room, not even a closet in there and I like the cottage feel of the tongue and groove beadboard walls. The pillow could have other elements besides the word(s) as you see fit.

  65. marye says:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! (hope that wasn’t too loud, sorry) 41 years ago today, i had a baby, sshh where does the time go? focus. first off, i am amazed at all your sweet pillows. it seems silly for me to tell such a creative soul as yourself what to put on a pillow. but i will, he he! pink, hot, neon or pale, is my favorite color. i have a white sofa ( in the living room) which is waaay too formal for my cottage-style home. so i’m thinking a lovely hand crafted pillow would bring it down to a comfy , homey feel. pink, as mentioned before, green, yellow, aqua and any other colors that might blend in. i’m not a matchy, matchy person. birds, flowers, nature stuff and maybe a dachshund (lydia ruth). ha, you didn’t see that coming, did you? hope today to be the best birthday ever. :>)

  66. Kathie L says:

I would love to have one of your designs that would include hexagons for bicycle wheels and embroidery for the rest of the bike. As for colors – any of the fresh colors of yellow, green, blue and orange. You do such wonderful work. Kathie L in Allentown

  67. Justine says:

Great idea for a giveaway! If I win I’d like a pillow for my 6yr old son’s bedroom. Not something that shouts young boy but something sophisticated that he can treasure for many years. Something with text or maybe a little Dr. Seuss (who grows out of that?) A riot of scrappy colours would be great as his room walls are silver grey. When he looks at quilts/sewing online with me is drawn to scrappy style with quirky elements like text & fun prints that he can pick out! He’d be so pleased to win something as he complains that his sister has lots of handmade but he doesn’t have much!!

  68. Martina says:

    Happy birthday to you!
What a fun give away. Your pillows are so sweet. Especially love the one with the circles on it. I would love to have a pillow which would remind me of the sea, the beach and just spending time relaxing and dreaming. Sunny and bright.
Thanks so much. I am looking forward to see what you are designing…!

  69. Lyn says:

I think it would be fun for you to make a pillow with a large fluffy somewhat maine-coon looking cat on it. My Maine Coon (Chocolate Mousse, Moosie to her friends) is brown and white, but I have no objections to her alter ego being turquoise, aqua, green, or any other non-catlike color. It would be most Mousselike if she were curled up asleep near a plant, or looking at one or more birds. Her name is Chocolate Mousse because of her fur and because when I first saw her as a kitten, I knew she was going to be a moose of a cat. She is a indoor cat, goofy and sweet, and purrs as soon as she is picked up. I see this as a cheerful bright pillow done in modern geometric and floral prints. And, of course, Mousse would probably love to snuggle up against it.

  70. Catswhiskers says:

happy birthday to you… enjoy your day/night.
Many happy returns of the day.
I too celebrated my birthday this week and it was great.
Thanks for this lovely giveaway and thanks for the chance
    Gina

  71. Gigi Minor says:

Happy Birthday! I bet you have had a fun week! Wow a custom pillow!! That’s a sweet deal for the winner!
My style is a bit off beat…kawaii or creepily cute are my favorites! I would have to say that I imagine a cute little gingerbread house deep in a forest with mushrooms, flowers and maybe some lollipop trees! A little hedgehog would have to be hidden in there somewhere along with an aqua birdie perched on top of a gnomes house made from a mushroom – you know the kind where there’s a little door at the base of the mushroom stem and maybe some pink cotton candy “smoke” coming from the chimney and a spider web somewhere in a corner : ) I love colorful fun fabrics especially Japanese “kawaii” designs. My house is so crazy and full of happiness and color that really anything goes! Thanks for the chance at winning!

  72. Colleen says:

What a neat idea for a giveaway! My birthday is May 11. I like bright colors on light gray or white backgrounds. I especially love the colors in the Bliss line of fabrics. Im also partial to light blues and greens that would match the comfy chair in my studio. I love hexagons, hst, and the pretty bird appliques. Applique words also interest me especially the word ‘live’. Thanks for letting me share.

  73. Alisa says:

That is such neat giveaway! If it was to be mine….

I just made a quilt with Freebird by Momo. I would love a pillow done in solids that match with that line. Another idea that has crossed my mind is to reproduce the flower by applique with solids in the same colour. Have fun!

  74. Terri says:

    Happy Birthday!!!

I would like a pillow with soft colors (pale yellows, pale purples, pale pinks, etc) and embroidered or applique “Happiness is sharing your pillow with loved ones…” and have a lazy little black cat on it. (A tribute to my cat…Kitty) You can see a picture of her on my blog…atthemapletable.com

  75. Teresa says:

I love your pillows and one with hexagons in blues greens and pinks would be wonderful.

  76. Linda says:

THANKS FOR SUCH A NEAT GIVEAWAY GIFT!
    I LOVE RED!
    I LOVE STRAWBERRIES!
MAYBE RED,CREAM+GREEEN TOGETHER IN COTTON, OF COURSE.
    THANK YOU !

  77. Nancy says:

Currently I am crushing on a Nautical theme. I dream of living on the coast somewhere, someday. But not sun drenched California, or warm Mexico. I’d prefer the New England or Oregon coasts. And lately I have been wanting to make a quilt of blues, whites, and greys with a little bit of red mixed in. I’d probably include some pinwheels or maybe some bunting. And I think a pillow to match would be great. Thanks for the fabulous week and giveaway. Hope your birthday is great (I’m a May baby too).

  78. Rhonda says:

You are amazing!!! Here is my design challenge/idea: I am currently digging owls. Owls are just too cute…owls of all shapes and sizes. As far as color scheme…what about the 70s colors? Like browns, oranges, and golds. I think that would be so cool on a pillow. I would put that in my studio for continuous inspiration.

  79. CJ says:

Ohhhhh what a fun giveaway!! One of your pillows would be an awesome win! I would want some hexagons or cathedral windows I think because I will most likely never make any. I LOVE red, I LOVE fall (not so much halloween), I LOVE winter. Fall could have red and golds and plums and browns and winter could have blues or greens and white and grey. Little birdies or snowmen always welcome. 😀

  80. Nicky says:

Happy, happy birthday to you!! The 14th is a great day at our house too. Bridie turned 4 and we had purple cake and purple icing with butterflies, lovehearts and rainbows (all on a little round cake…amazing that we could fit that much stuff on it and candles too). Then we all had blue teeth and had to take a photo of that. Perfect day really.

Love that you are giving away a cushion. I’m thinking a birthday party scene with purple cake and butterflies and lovehearts and rainbows! Throw in some hexies and a bit of stitchery (in the border?? Maybe about birthdays or being 4 or 33(because that will be me in the next few months)??) and it would be perfect. In my head this pillow is getting bigger and bigger, because a Bridie bird would look pretty cute on it.

I was loving the ‘Eden’ range by Lila Tueller. Colour wise I thought it was beautiful. I scored a little fat quarter and was going to use it to make the ‘Give Thanks’ bom that Jenny of Elefantz was doing (have you checked that out?). Clearly digressing. Trust you had a great day and best wishes for another wonderful year.

    Cheers

  81. Eileen says:

Happy birthday! My bday was we’d. Yay for us.
I really love the red and aqua combination, I love birds, roosters.
Thanks for all the opportunities this week

  82. Michelle says:

What a cute idea! I love the pillows that you have on your couch.lol
Pastels and spring colors accident with white. It would be perfect for spring/summer! Also I am love with the cathedral widows design(if that’s even what its called). But anything made by you would be nice! 🙂

P.S. Happy Birthday and thanks for the week long giveaway it was fun to participate!

  83. Jennifer B says:

I love your pillow from Josephs Coat Pillow. I love bright colors(orange, turquoise(aqua), greens, pinks, and yellows. Personally I would like just about any color combo. Thanks for the great birthday week of giveaways.

  84. Mystica says:

Happy birthday and thank you for sharing.

I like a cream background and anything floral on the pillow along with butterflies done in applique. I like pinks and lime greens, light blues and peach shades!

  85. May is special to our family as the baby of seven children will be turning 17 on the 26th. Where did those years go?
Hmmm, the cushion – I love linen or white muslin as backgrounds, and either Shabby Chic design with applique, or fabrics that pop (like Denyse Schmidt’s style). Perle thread hand quilting has a gorgeous effect. And I love birds! 🙂
What a treasured giveaway this is…would love to be the recipient.
    Happy birthday, and hugs,
    Jenny
    xx

  86. charlotte says:

Well i just made a couple of cathedral windows pillows with a tutorial from the bakeshop. So not that, but something that would incorporate some embroidery as well as piecework would be nice. I am doing the birdie stitches blocks, so maybe something that would complement that soon to be quilt. Some embroidered birds and squares of beautiful color. I am not using Sunkissed for mine, but I do have another quilt top just finished with Sunkissed, so it would go well with that one to. I am loving pillows right now and hope to have several styles to put on my new (hopefully soon) couch.
Thanks for the chance and Happy Birthday Week to you.

  87. Natalie christensen says:

Happy birthday week! I will be 31 on the 20th of May. I love hexagons, bright colors, cathedral windows, and scrappy! Thanks for your beautiful pillow pics!

  88. gaile says:

Happy Birthday, to you and all the May birthdays! What a gorgeous set of pillows, and a tempting opportunity!! I guess if I were to tell someone ‘this is what I’d like for my living room’ I’d say – I love mid century designs and colors. I love turquoise, orange, avocado green, and chocolate brown. I love antlers on animals that don’t (or do!) have antlers in real life. I love circles.

    Thanks for the opportunity!

  89. Anne Marie says:

I would love a pillow made with an Irish theme – perhaps shamrocks – these could be an applique or embroidery. I love anything Irish so of course the color would have to be shades of green varying from light to dark! Hope you had a wonderful birthday week.

  90. Mandy M says:

Oh how fun….if I were to design a pillow, I would use my new fav color combo of pink and orange. It would be Whimsical to include a bird , possibly a tree, and for sure flowers. Maybe a little black since I think black sets off any project. What you could possibly make using those guidelines, who knows. I’m not a designer, but do love a pretty pillow. I like to sit in my chair outside with pillows to watch the birds on the feeders. Today I even had 3 Baltimore Orioles. This is my first year trying to attract them. It’s been fun trying to take pictures of them.

May I say Happy Birthday one more time this week. You’ve really celebrated it up to the MAX!

  91. Rebecca says:

Happy Birthday! I’m picturing linen and brightly colored fruit….maybe a huge over-sized sprig of appliquéd strawberries that doesn’t quite fit as well as the embroidered word for strawberry in Finnish (mansikka)
Your pillows are gorgeous. Absolutely stunning.

  92. Jody says:

Happy Birthday Corey! 33 years ago you made your appearance on Mothers Day! 🙂 and you have been making your mothers day ever since!!!

Now you can say, “Do you want a little wine with that cheese?”:)

I know I’m not going to be in your drawing…but my idea for a pillow for you to make is…(drumroll please)…a Searhorse Pillow for Elonie! 🙂

Here’s my brainstorm-since Chloe has confiscated the one you made of her artwork to sleep with, you could make one for Eller. One that looks kinda like the Eric Carle’s “Mister Seahorse” (since she’s going through a seahorse phase).
It could have seaweed and other sea critters…maybe some sparkles on the seahorse and a fun little pouch for the baby seahorse’s…and Yes, make small seahorses’ that would come out of the pouch to play with. 🙂 Now doesn’t that sound fun? 🙂

BTW, in Eric’s book I found out-Mr. Stickleback makes the nest & takes care of the eggs until they hatch
-Mr. Tilapia keeps the eggs in his MOUTH till they hatch! Yikes
-Mr. Kurtus has eggs stuck on his HEAD till they hatch. (How’s that for a bad hair day…talk about a headache) ha
-and Mr. Pipe has eggs along his belly.

I rather liked that the Mr’s took care of the hatching!

Thanks for the fun fabric shopping today. Hope you and Chloe enjoyed your garage saling!

I love you bunches and bunches! Mom

  93. vicki says:

Happy Birthday to You! I recently turned a bedroom into a sewing/treadmill room and used Dwell Studio Botany Flora Leaf in apple green from JoAnn’s for the window treatment with cherry red/white/and a little black for accents. I have several shelves with old toys and books on display. I love red, and dots, and rick rack, and pom pom trim, and anything cottage-y. A pillow on my sewing chair would be fun to look at while I’m trudging along on the treadmill!

  94. Wendy B says:

Wow Corey…what a lovely idea! I’m a true Gemini with my birthday just sneaking in on the very last day of May…..but not too sneaky, I was only minutes after the midnight chime!!!! I bet you’re having the best birthday sharing it with us all?! Happy happy birthday, girl!!! I’m a very girly girl…loving pink, white and green or red, beige and blue combinations….I love polka dots, ricrac, lace, ribbon, buttons, spring, flowers, birds, petals anything!!!!
Thanks for the chance to win a lovely birthday surprise! Now….off to download some more birdie stitches blocks to catch up on!!!! heehee
    XXX sugary birthday hugs
    WendyB :O)

  95. Elisa says:

Yours was one of the first blogs I’d read, and I became hooked about four months ago when you posted your cathedral windows pillow with the little birds. Since then, I’m fixated on little applique birds! I hunted the websites, found the stitchy applique instructions, pulled out my scraps, stitched away.. and made the ugliest birds you’ve ever seen! They looked like tadpoles! I’m obsessed with little birds!

I’m loving your birdie stitches embroidery but would LOVE something with little birdies from you! Thank you for letting us share your birthday week with you!

  96. kathy says:

I love your passion for pillows and I am inspired with the examples that you post on your blog. I guess if I had to pick, I would pick Joseph’s Coat and the Cathedral Windows. If I won, you would get to choose. Thanks, kathy

  97. Kira says:

I have been looking for something to shock, but match, my forest green living room carpet and olive green couches. There is a maroon rocker too.

A pillow can really brighten a room and bring a new perspective to it. I haven’t found the right color combination yet, but if you have ideas, tell me. Please.

  98. Alyssa Grace says:

Happy birthday (: my birthday was the 3rd. I think my dream pillow would be orange, hot pink, a splash of grassy green, and chocolatey brown! It would have polka dots and stripes! 😀 Also, I think a porupine/hedgehog applique would be fun…(kinda a cartoon one). Lastly, itd be either square or rectangular–im not a fan of circular pillows unless they’re like the sprocket pillows. :] well, happy birthday!!! Hope it’s your best one ever!

  99. Deborah in Atlanta says:

I’ve loved spending the days with you while you’ve been gearing up for your birthday. I love your Cathedral Window pillow – and love jewel tones, so they could be used in the inserts!! I’m not much of a whimsical person – I love to see it on blogs, and can appreciate the beauty, but I just simply don’t see them in my surroundings. Thanks for all of the giveway opportunities and Happy Birthday (again!)

  100. Judy S says:

    Happy Happy Birthday!!!
I would love the chance to win a special pillow made by you. I would choose something with aqua, pink, yellow and green. I have seen so many of your pillows that I would love to have, so it would be really easy for you to pick something I would really like. I like your style! Oh and maybe a bluebird or two would be nice.

  101. Franny says:

    What a give away

I think I’d like something with a deer or maybe bright cheery flowers. I love color, but tend to avoid pastels and white, for some reason they just don’t work for me.

  102. Kelly Rachel says:

Wow, this is a fantastic idea. And how super awesome would it be to win??!!
I’ll give this a go, but my mind is known for resembling an autobahn with many ideas zooming around at breakneck speeds, so I’m not sure what’s going to pop out at this present time. Let me think…

Colours: Cream, coral, peachy pink, robin’s egg blue, yellow-green
Images: Soft pink cotton candy; an old fashioned swing with ribbons tied on the handles; bunting; umbrellas
Sewing: Ruffles, hand quilting, patchwork, bows

Wow, that was fun! I didn’t know what I’d get, but that’s kind of a dreamy concoction don’t you think?

    Good luck to everyone!

  103. Andrea C says:

i would love a scrappy, log cabin pillow with all different hues. either that or one with a tree with scrappy leaves…or a double sided one with a log cabin on one side and a tree on the other! haha..now I feel greedy. 🙂 what a great giveaway!!

  104. Christy says:

Currently, my favorite fabric line is Sugar & Spice, by The Quilted Fish for Riley Blake. I really love the blue/red colorway. I think it would be darling to make a pillow with an appliqued fish design (for The Quilted Fish!). I’d like to see something like the Rainbow Fish, with each scale being made from a different fabric in the Sugar & Spice line.

  105. Dianne N says:

    Happty Birthday to you etc.etc.
My husband hates pillows so I would love it if you could make something so nice that even he would like it. My lounge curtains are ivory with pink, green and brown circles, quite retro looking Maybe something appliqued becuase I can’t do that (well I haven’t tried yet!)
    Thanks

  106. Montse says:

Best ever giveaway! If I won I would love to have a pillow for my bedroom. My bedroom is painted gray and I’m thinking to let spring inside it… perhaps something in white, yellow and green?

  107. Susanne says:

I am an oktober child 🙂 your pillows are all awesome! I would love some wors, trees and birds. Any cheerful color would do. You have an eye for it 🙂
    Best wishes
    Susanne

  108. Joan says:

Thanks for the giveaway! I just love your little birdie pattern. I am a quilter, rug hooker and knitter. I just love color the brighter the better. Thanks again.

  109. Christine says:

What a lovely thing for you to do! I always admire your designs, so it would be amazing to have a pillow created by you! I would love a design inspired by nature… trees, flowers, birds, bees… in bright, fresh summery colours… greens, blues, reds and yellows.
    cmccorriston@hotmail.co.uk

  110. Sarah says:

I have three little boys, and we’re planning to move to London later this year as missionaries. That could make an interesting pillow! Many landmarks there. 🙂

  111. Barb says:

Corey, what a generous and creative give-away. Your pillows are always so beautiful and inspiring.

With a new baby in the house, I’d love a special pillow for my 4.5 year old daughter, Charlotte. She shares a room with her little brother, so we painted her room aqua blue. But she loves all things pink, purple, fairy tale and princess.

  112. LyndaBrown says:

What an honor to have a pillow designed and made by you! I really love the white pillows you make…they all look so fresh and clean. One of my spare bedrooms is painted deep purple with pearl stripes (absolutely love it!). I made a bedspread using all my soft scraps in lavendar, yellow, pink, green and blue with white sashing. I have topped it with a few handmade pillows made at retreats. Love the look of all those soft colored pillows and quilt in the deep, dark, purple room. I’d love to add one made by you. Thanks for the opportunity.

  113. Stina says:

Ahhh.. such a wonderful and lovely idea!! And im thrilled at maybe maybe a pillow made by you coming to live with me..:O)) Ok.. What do I love…
SPRING, FRESH, PINKS , GREENS; FLOWERS, BIRDS, Happiness and JOY…:o)
After our cold and dark winter Im still struggeling to get my inter blues away.. and a celebration to Spring.. and Summer that would be just IT..:O)

Thanks for this week.. your giveaways have been such a pleasure to try and win..:O)Hope your birthday will be the best or have been..:O)

  114. Jessica C says:

I’d like to see something that celebrates the joy of childhood — kind of like Aneela Hoey’s girl on a swing applique (only not exactly that) — maybe kids on a tire swing jumping into a river or little boys catching frogs — just something sort of Normal Rockwell-esque. That would just be so cute on a pillow, I think.

  115. elsa says:

Happy Birthday! it sure has been a filled with generous giving ~ thanks so much for all the beautiful things you’ve posted and the opportunity to win so many different lovely items!
I like to make pillows and use all sorts of things. My most favorite is collage, cutting pieces of fabric into shapes and sewing them on. My inspiration is Charley Harper, he did the most amazing animal and bird paintings and the colors he used are wonderful. I also like to do cake and tea (out of fabric, but the real thing too), so the colors can be all over the place.
Thanks again for all the lovely posts and hope your birthday is a lovely one! have a great day!

  116. Sallie says:

What a fun idea for everyone! Happy birthday! I know you’ve already made one, but I would choose your Joseph’s Coat pillow – it reminds me of daisies. I love the colors you chose – they are so cheerful! Thanks for another great giveaway!

  117. Sherron says:

Happy Birthday! What a fun idea!
I have been trying to figure out how to add ‘softness’ to my living room. I have a lot of angular furniture and decorations, even my accent pillows have lines and boxes. Something soft, possibly with circles or curves. I love patchwork designs, but can’t figure out how to make them softer. (Okay, I’ll just admit it, the idea of sewing circles and curves terrifies me!)
My colors are rusts (oranges, reds) blues (light and dark) and browns.

  118. sarah says:

Happy Birthday to you! I’m loving the Hideaway line these days– I’m working on a pinwheel quilt with it and incorporating some cuckoo clock embroidery in a few squares. I would love a pillow to accompany it!

  119. Janet says:

Wow, what an honor it would be to have one of your pillows! My fave is the taupe/red with embroidery, but to be honest I love ALL your pillows I’ve seen. I’m all about animals (dogs, cats, birds) and gardening, believe red is a true neutral, but I can make any color but purple and pink work (and those are ok in small doses).

Ooh, I hope I win! And I hope your birthday is the most amazing every .. .mine’s in October, but one of my dogs was born in May (we’re guessing).

  120. Kathy says:

I love dachshunds. I have 4 of them. That would make an awesome pillow. Thanks for the awesome giveaway!

  121. Holly M says:

What a great idea! I would love a beach themed pillow with coral and shells in aqua colors.

  122. Gill says:

I love birds and houses so anything combining the two would be great – in greys and blues …..

  123. Melinda says:

Ooohhh! What a cool idea! I’ve done pillows but never anything like yours. I love photographing nature but I love the bright colors we’re seeing in many of the mod quilts these days. I love birds but especially love hummingbirds. Hope you had a great birthday!

  124. monica says:

Happy Birthday! Wow…I started to leave a comment but narrowing down what I like is harder than I thought! Autumn is my favorite season. I love the colors and the leaves. And I collect anything with honeybees, honeycombs, or bee skeps.
I’d love to win a pillow from you, it would be an honor! And the anticipation will be the best part!
    Thanks! And happy birthday again!
    Monica 🙂

  125. What kind of pillow would I like? Something similar to what you have already made with the birdie. Or, perhaps a cute little owl and a tree. Something in greens and blues with some bold black thrown in there. I prefer a pillow with piping. A birthday theme might be sort of nice as my bday is the 20th! Another very happy birthday to you!!!

  126. How fun and devilish at the same time!
You make such fabulous goodies, that anyone will be lucky to receive your fab creation. 🙂

I absolutely adore so many different pillow styles, but I especially love hexagons, and anything with hand stitching puts me over the moon.
I love little fussy cut surprises being built into a design, like cutie-cute HR gnomes and such. I love pink, green, turquoise, anything bright bright bright! But ultimately, I know anything you make will just be perfection.

    Thanks and happy birthday! 🙂

  127. Sadie says:

Happy birthday! Sounds like you had a lovely day.
I often enjoy sitting out in the garden (weather permitting! I do live in Scotland!) to eat my breakfast. I find that it is the most peaceful part of the day. I could really use a pillow to use with my favourite outdoor chair.
I think something that matched the flowers in my garden would be lovely. I have a mostly pink colour scheme, with a few purples, lilacs, mauves, lavenders and soft blues thrown in too. I also often share my breakfast with the wild birds that visit the garden, so it would be quite nice if there was a wee birdie or two. They are becoming more used to me and will now venture closer to get their little toasty treats 🙂 I’m hoping that with plenty of time and patience they will eventually be brave enough to take food out of my hand. Wouldn’t that be so special!
Thank you for the chance to win such a wonderful prize 🙂

  128. Irina says:

    Happy birthday again!

I love pillows and I love those made with linen and little aplique motifs with colourful fabric. I’d like one with lots of leaves…

  129. Charlotte says:

Happy Birthday! My fav color is RED! Red is my neutral. When I look at fabric, I look for the color not the maker. But I seem to choose a lot of Moda fabric. A favorite pattern? Log cabin with a twist.

  130. Christine M says:

What a wonderful giveaway. I love your Joseph’s Coat cushion. I don’t think I would ever attempt that pattern. I love the colours you have used. So pretty. I live in a house full of boys. I love adding some “girly” around the house! Thanks for the chance.

  131. Kelly O. says:

How exciting! I’m a fabric lover through and through! I love the idea of patchwork using different fabrics (like silks, cotton and corduroy and suede)
I also love texture…different quilting techniques fascinate me because you can change the texture and “feel” of a fabric or project just by switching the quilting up…

my fave colour is yellow and I love all colours paired with gray. I think mainly because grey reminds me of my dad (he died of ALS) and since his passing grey just makes me remember him.
My favourite designer is Anna Maria Horner. I’ve always wanted to make a pillow to mimmick her squares in squares (square dance I think it’s called) print from her garden party line….lots of skinny squares in squares with grey or brown and bright colours—SWOON!

  132. Angie says:

Wow what a prize. I would love to have a cathedral window pillow. I have always wanted to make on, but can not find a tutorial that pinpoints it simply for me. As far as colors, I love rainbows, and I love all your pillows, so I would totally leave it upto you for the rest of it. I am still amazed you may give someone an awesome pillow for your Birthday! Happy Birthday and I hope it was a great day for you!

  133. marg says:

boy a pillow from you would be a delight. I always loved the gray and red with different circles with the bunting in one. I love the idea of you choosing but a theme would be cups of tea! Thank you for the lovely week and I hope the birthday was a lovely day.

  134. Debra says:

I think a great pillow for me would be 4 different cats doing what they do. Getting into trouble. I have a black cat, a yellow and white striped tabby, and grey and tan tabby, and a black kitty with white on its neck!

  135. Angela H says:

What a lovely giveaway you are offering this time round.
My cushion would have to be rectangular, made with Sugar and Spice fabric (yummy)with buttonsand ric rac. It would need to have a few words of some kind on it and no circles in the design…
    Not too fussy am I!!!!!.
Anyway hope you had a great birthday and thanks for giving one of us lucky readers of your blog a chance to get our very own birthday present from you…..

  136. Kimmer says:

Oh, something fun and summery! Red, yellow, blue, green, aqua… with a garden fantasy feeling. Gnomes, fairies, owls, birdies and pretty flowers… a nice crisp white background… Something to celebrate the end of our terribly snowy winter!
    Fun!
    Thanks for the great giveaway!
    lynchmob4022@sbcglobal.net

  137. Kathy says:

I would love to have a Christmas holiday pillow. One with a funky tree and presents and birds on the tree holding ribbon to decorate it. Christmas flowers on the tree also.

Thanks for the great giveaway. Somebody’s gonna be a lucky winner. Anticipation is awesome. Happy birthday!

  138. robin says:

I’d love to win a custom pillow! What a neat idea. It would have to include a bird and leaves – kind of a theme with me (goes with the name). And I’m redoing my bedroom in green & lavender/deep purple.

  139. Hallie says:

What a great idea! I love modern retro….the pink, teal, green, orange, red…love it! I have a beautiful antique church pew in my entryway that I love to throw pillows up on. I would love to have one of yours!! I follow your blog daily. Your modern style and the excitement you bring to us middle-age quilters is just wonderful.

  140. Carin says:

    WOW!
What a giveaway! And it should be you that got all the presents on your birthday, I think.
I do like sheep and the birds you make. The colours I like are turqoise, aqua and plum, with many others.
    I do hope I win!

  141. Kathy h says:

Happy Birthday. I would choose a red, white and blue colorway (more of navy, cream and marroon). I would have a pillow that shows patriotic animals, maybe dogs and cats but your beautiful birds would be cute too. This was a fun idea for your giveaway. Thanks for .the chance

I am just finishing up on my first quilt! It is a modified irish chain with 9″ nine patches and sashings in red, crisp white, and blue (my birthday is the 1st of July) and a pale yellow border. It’s got a fabulous blue and red tiedye batik with stars for the backing. I’m excited to be almost finished with it and I think it would be fabulous to have a pillow to compliment it!

I read your blog from the beginning this year, thanks for all the inspiration as I get going on my own quilting hobby 🙂

  143. debra says:

Happy Birthday….I would love something to compliment my very first quilt.
I can offer a pic. It is made from soft greens and pinks, vintage sheets mostly….i have not bound it yet and have changed my mind a few times regarding this, however i am sure it will be of a stronger green pink combo or simply white. I would love a soft squishy comfy ‘cuddle me’ pillow. I have just extended my home to 5 more, 3 of which I am nonna to, hence my bed is often full of little people reading, drawing, playing cards or simply snuggling…..
I am sure anything you made would be loved in my home. And thank you for the week long opportunity to the birthday party!! xx

  144. Janet says:

My couch colours are beige with flecks of red and blue. I find it boring so I’d like something that will really spice it up. I’d like you to use some fabric along the lines of Aviary or Silent Cinema. I love Cathedral Windows or hexies and some nature theme thrown in would be wonderful. Your pillows are beautiful.

  145. Anne says:

    Happy birthday! 😀

First off, I love all the pillows you’ve posted, the light airy colors just make me swoon!

I’ve been falling in love with Terrain, Kate Spain’s new line, especially the top fabric here:
    http://www.fatquartershop.com/store/stores_app/Browse_Item_Details.asp?sid=57745161716375774&Store_id=499&page_id=23&Item_ID=55984&Parent_Ids=

But since that isn’t out yet, that’s hardly helpful. 🙂

The color combo that’s getting me lately is aqua, lime, and pink or grey (or both) with lots of white.

I adore the applique that you do on many of your pillows, as well as the fun shapes. Whomever wins your contest will be incredibly lucky!

Have a wonderful birthday, and thank you for sharing your creativity!

  146. Jen says:

I really love your pillows! I would want something that matches my living room, reds and browns. And since I’m a country-kinda gal, I would love a western spin to it. Besides that, I trust you! Happy Birthday, thanks for all the awesome giveaways!

  147. TiTi says:

Lovely pillows. I love the pillow on the last photo but maybe with another color than white because I love colors!

  148. Beth T. says:

Oh, what fun! I would love a pillow with a tree, many leaves, perhaps a few birds…as for color, I’m thinking that some combination of deep jewel colors, along with brown and tan would be stunning. Thanks for jump-starting my imagination. Fingers crossed…

  149. Kristin M says:

I know exactly what I love like. A tree of life depicting my six children. There are 4 girls 21, 19, 15, 2 years, and two boys 15 and 7 months.

  150. Quanita says:

Ok… I’m a total nerd and love both Star Trek and Star Wars… but I’m also in love with bright girly fabrics, so my idea is something Star Trek or Star Wars themed using bright girly fabrics. Like an Appliqued Federation Logo or a pieced iotacon style member of TNG or Star Wars.

    Bwah ha ha ha…
I know I will probably have to resort to this myself, but I had to have a go 🙂

  151. Ursula says:

This is the most creative giveaway idea I have seen yet. I am in love with all things red/aqua/and pink, and I am also loving bright, saturated rainbows. As for design, I am loving hexies, dresdens, buntings, and the bars that are all different lengths. I also love birds, owls, hedgies, deer, mushrooms and cute gnomes. Not very original, huh? But I love it!

I am excited to watch this unfold!!! So glad Tasha sent us over so I could find this blog.

  152. Kara says:

What a fun idea! I’m loving all the fabrics that are just prime for fussy cutting right now, summer colors, simplicity, and threes. Oh, and perle cotton!

  153. D Spack says:

OK, this is a great idea. I love embroidery, flowers, etc…. I’m digging greens and blues these days! Orange is great too. Thanks for the chance, the suspense will be so fun. Happy May Birthday.

  154. Karen P. says:

Happy birthday! I am sewing a birthday skirt & shirt set for my daughter who is turning four on the 23rd!
I would be unbelievably honored & happy to win a pillow made by you! Your work is absolutely fabulous! I really need a pillow to brighten up my living room sofas. Brown leather can get dark! I am really loving aqua & red with some green & orange thrown in. You know those beautiful appliqued leaf/ tree pillows? I Love those! Your cathedral windows pillow is amazing too! Imagine that in a grey with my fave colors in the windows?! Awesomeness! Thanks so much for the fabulous giveaways!

  155. Ruthie says:

    I love your giveaways!

  156. Ruthie says:

    I’m a follower!

  157. Jamie BH says:

I’m all about the Celtic design motifs, Knotwork, that sort of thing. I love red and green and black and gold. I’m fascinated by the idea of combining Celtic design with quilting, and I devour any designs I see that have that Celtic feel. I’d be fascinated by what you could come up with, as I love your style and I think you’d do something unbelievably fabulous!

  158. Nancy says:

I love pillows. I would love a brightly colored pillow with some blues, greens, corals, yellows. Flowers are wonderful, love lavender, roosters, oh, so many things to choose from. Words are a favorite too.

  159. Wow, this is really such a sweet giveaway idea. And I adore all your pillows — I love the thoughtfulness that goes into your designs. That said, I would think it was so cool if you designed a pillow for me that is based around my blog name: The Hungry Crafter! I have this image in my head (loosely based on Eric Carle’s The Hungry Caterpillar) of a green caterpillar handsewing with one pair of arms while leaning back with its head to munch on a piece of cake! LOL! Someday I will get around to hiring a graphic designer to do that for my blog header. General aesthetic likes of mine: bright colors, earth and animal motifs, linen, embroidery, applique, texture. And the couch where it would live is chocolate brown 🙂 Fabric faves are FMF, KJR, Little Folks, Japanese Imports & Liberty florals.
Most importantly, though: Happy, happy birthday!

  160. Wow, what an interesting giveaway. I love applique, and old fashioned patterns. I also love spring colors and RED! hmm… do you want to try getting all that in a pillow??? I’ll be watching. Happy (belated) Birthday. Oh, and I love batiks, but, I’ve never used them (yet).

  161. Lynn says:

I love this pillow! I would want mine to be my very own. I would want it to have blue and white (my favorite colors) and have flowers, maybe. I would want it to be soft and cozy. I love 100% cotton and florals, chintz and pastel colors. Oh it just sounds so wonderful!

  162. christy says:

I am so excited about this!! My husband is the Executive Director of a non-profit called Parker Street Ministries. He started out as a volunteer in 1997 and became the director in 2001. We purchased a building last year and are renovating. He will finally have his own office, after 10 years. We have had our office in a local church until now. He has always had to share the room with at least 2 other people. I would love a pillow of the Parker Street Ministries logo for his new office. This logo can be found on the Parker Street Ministries Group Facebook page. There is a colorful version (the original) of it in the second page of the photos. It is three houses on a hill with some bushes. Thank you so much for your consideration and fun giveaway.

  163. I would love a pillow inspired by my favorite flower- the iris. I love the deep purple with a hint of yellow. 🙂

  164. Jennie says:

This is such a generous idea, but surely as it’s YOUR birthday, you should be receiving the pillows! My favourite colour combo at the moment is a bright and fresh lime green, yellow and turquoise mix (I’m still in love with the colours in Heather Bailey’s Nicey Jane) I can’t wait to try out my own cathedral window cushion- once my skills have improved a bit 🙂

  165. Chris says:

I’d have such a hard time picking a pillow! Your darling pillow designs are what drew me to your blog in the first place. 🙂 Thank you for sharing your talents for your birthday!

  166. Nancy D. says:

What a cool giveaway! I love pillows. I’ve actually been wanting to make one for our living room, which is a khaki color, neutral. I haven’t had time to make anything for me yet though. I could see one with applique daisies and deer on it. (I saw the deer applique like the picture you posted and was also inspired by the one Quilt Story had shared as her Spring Pillow.) 16×16 ish would be a good size. The colors would be neutral back- no white or black as it would not stay clean in our house. Deep red border, with a patchwork of scrappy solid/prints that would blend to make a nice background. Hope you’ve had a great birthday celebration. Take care!

  167. Robin says:

I have a window seat in my sewing room with a bunch of uncovered pillows on it. I’m in the process of making pretty quilted covers to cheer up the space and I could use some help 😉 My colors are lilac and pistachio green but I’m going for a nice mix of quilting techniques in bright colors on white background. Thanks for the chance!

In my past life… I was a mom to three wonderful children, who have all become adults. When they are “coming home” I always ask them what they want me to make…just for them. They always have their special food request but, there is also one other thing I know they all love and appreciate. Fresh sheets that have hung on the clothes line all day. When they gather together they all comment how they loved that I put my clothes on the clothes line when the weather allowed. They can still see the colorful clothes waving in the wind and how they loved running through them when I wasn’t looking. They loved the smell of the clothes, epecially the sheets it is embedded in their brains and still remains a “favorite smell” for all of them. They have referred to it as the fresh smell of “mom’s love.”

A few things that might also come in handy: I LOVE color, bright and intense, soft and suttle, it doesn’t matter… I love color. I crush dresdens and hexagons. They facinate me but, intimidate the heck out of me! I also lust for FMF. I am collecting and hope to someday have enough to create something special, just for me!

Thanks for a wonderful chance and wishing you the best for you have a difficult decision to make…yes, pun intended!

I hope the thought of “colorful laundry blowing in the breeze on the clothes line” tickles your fancy as much as it did for my kids.

  169. Nancy Sue says:

What a great giveaway idea! Hmmmm… How about a pillow to use for a cat nap before a big stressful event, day etc. I’d love a little birdie about half way down who (when my head is on the pillow) whispers sweet nothings in my ear. Words of encouragement could radiate out of the birdie’s mouth and surround the pillow with positive mantras. So in this case, “a little bird in your ear” is a good thing!

  170. Jennifer says:

What a wonderful twist on a giveaway! My favorite color is red, with clear blue/green/aqua and yellow accents (think Carl Larsson : )). I really like your hexies and birdies at the top, and also the 4th pillow you have up there. I like pennants/buntings. I’d prefer the base color not be white–I have 5 small girls and that means lots of grimy fingers. I’ve been meaning for a year and a half now to make a pillow similar to this: http://www.cluckclucksew.com/2009/10/tutorial-scrap-buster-fall-pillow.html only with a bird in a nest added. Or maybe 5 of something on the pillow (birdies, etc) for each of my 5 girls??

  171. Kim D. says:

I love your cathedral window pillow, I’ve been wanting to make a pillow like it for years. I also love the colors and bird in your last pillow, both are so adorable. I’m making a new quilt for my bed in soft light teal blues, shades of green (Avocado and soft lime) and brown. The blocks will be large circles with lots of dot fabrics and a few vines and leaves. I’m designing it myself and can’t wait to get started. I would love to win a pillow to go on the new quilt. I love the fresh white background of your pillows or even beige/tan would be nice. Thanks for the chance, I’m usually the giver of handmade items, so I don’t usually get handmade in return. It would be so special to receive one of your beautiful designs.

  172. Quynh says:

I also love your cathedral window pillow…so beautiful! Also I have been loving your hand quilting on your quilts. You and your mother has been a big inspiration for me. I just completed a very happy king-size quilt made of Anna Maria Horner’s Little Folk Voile fabric mixed in with Kona white. The fabrics are arranged in rainbow effect from light to dark. The front of the quilt are the voile fabric is cut into rectangles and arranged into rows with white in between and on the back are window boxes of the fabrics framed in coordinating solid colors.

I ended up hand quilting in rainbow perle cotton in diagonal lines. Every time I look at it, it just make me darn happy and makes me thinking of there are happiness at the end of the rainbow 🙂 I would be honor if you design a wonderful happy pillow to go with this quilt.

  173. WandaFish says:

Hi Corey, I hope you had a fabulous birthday! I certainly had a lot of fun in your giveaway week 🙂 I’ve spent so long thinking about a pillow that I’ve probably missed the deadline!
I had thoughts of linen and Ruby Star Rising, but then I thought what I’d really like is whatever you’d like to make – you really do produce the most fantastic pillows.
Would you like to play with textures? I love linen, cotton, silk, velvet and it would be great fun to see you put a combination together. Colours? Any! All neutral; neutral with a splash of bright colour; multi-coloured.
Design – maybe a twist on a log cabin. Maybe not!
Some of my top fabric designers – Echino, Melody Miller, Laurie Wisbrun, Lizzy House, Tina Givens, Anna Maria Horner, Pat Bravo, Thomas Knauer.

Thank you for the opportunity to win such a truly wonderful prize 🙂
