Moda Block Heads Block 16
I always look forward to Wednesdays and sharing another Moda Block Heads block with you. This week we are ready to make block #16 and it is brought to us by Sherri McConnell.
You will find the PDF for her block, Dream, on her website. Click here to visit her site.
For my block, I used fabrics from Canning Day (red), Sugarcreek (blue), and Strawberry Jam (green). I really like the vintage-y vibe it’s giving me.
Because this block uses HST’s that aren’t scrappy…meaning there are multiple HST’s in the same fabric, I wanted to use triangle paper. I most often use Lisa Bongean’s triangle paper but I didn’t have the sizes I needed on hand. I remembered another resource that I sometimes use, Lee Heinrich’s printable “Perfect Half-Square Triangles”.
This is triangle paper that you purchase as a PDF download and then print out the sizes that you need, when you need them. I was able to print out just the size of triangle paper that I needed (on regular printer paper) to complete the Dream block for this week. I do prefer using regular triangle paper but, I like having this as an option when I don’t have the size I need on hand. If you’d like to check this paper out, you can visit Lee’s blog post here.
And now on to the giveaway Winner for the Round 1 Moda Block Heads E-book. Thank you to everyone that entered! The winner is:
Julie Strange who said: “I love the challenge to work outside my comfort zone. I’m fairly new to quilting and haven’t worked with so many small pieces but then get the odd easier block to calm my nerves.”
Congrat’s Julie!–I’ll be sending you an email.
It was a lot of fun reading through all of your comments about what you enjoy about Moda Block Heads. It has really been a treat to have this sew along during the last few months especially.
Take care and see you here next week, Corey

I really like the way your BH3 is coming together with those colors. I have decided to use yours as inspiration. I have another Moda designer’s FQ bundle with very similar colors and will be adding in a grunge as my solid. I’m excited to get started finally!
Thank you!–your plan sounds like so much fun. It’s always nice when the fabrics are decided on and the project can commence!
