Checks Mix Quilts Video Trunk Show

Today, I am happy to share a Checks Mix Quilts Trunk Show video over on my YouTube channel.  I shared a blog post of the quilts when the book came out but it’s so nice to now be able to share them in a video.  As promised in the video, I wanted to take a bit of time to share some current fabric suggestions for these quilts.

Because books are planned so far in advance, fabric lines can come and go during the publication process of a book.  You can see the original fabrics I used in the video or blog post and here are some current (or soon to be in quilt shops) fabric lines to consider for these quilts.

Up first, Check Your Heart, would be so pretty using my Sunwashed fabrics.

Rain Check works wonderfully in my Buttercup & Slate fabric line.  My original quilt used a variety of fabric lines so choosing a number of different yellow fabrics without worrying about a fabric line is another great option.

For Tossed Checkerboard, I wanted to see what the quilt would look like using fabrics from one fabric line.  My original Tossed Checkerboard used a variety of fabric lines and could be replicated by mixing and matching different lines.  I decided to see what it would look like using Sunnyside by Camille Roskelley.

Fruit Cocktail is a fun new fabric line by Fig Tree & Co.  I think it works beautifully for Checkered Flag.

I really enjoy Lisa Bongean of Primitive Gatherings “farmhouse-y” type of fabric lines.  For Checkpoint I used two prints from her upcoming Rustic Gatherings line of fabric.

I have also really enjoyed Basic Grey’s last couple fall lines of fabric.  For Maple Leaf Check, I tried out their Nutmeg line which came out this past fall.

The quilt Checking It Twice is a scrappy mix of reds and greens and would be easy to replicate by choosing your favorite mix of fabrics.  No need to pay attention to lines, just choose your favorite reds/greens.  I had mocked this one up a couple years ago using Cozy Up fabrics.  Keep in mind that this quilt will look very pretty using lots of different sorts of fabrics.  It doesn’t need to be a holiday quilt.

And lastly, the blues in Cascade would be very pretty for the Coat Check quilt.

I hope this gives you some ideas about using other current fabric lines for these quilts!  You can catch the YouTube video here.  In the video, I chat a bit more about each quilt and show the quilting designs up close.  I have a few more signed copies of Checks Mix Quilts still available in my Etsy shop here.

Have a wonderful weekend! Corey

It’s always so helpful seeing the quilts mocked up like this. That Sunwashed works so beautifully for the heart quilt. I also like seeing Checking it twice in other fabrics. I’ve been gathering pinks and greys from your collections for a Dashing quilt but think that would work well for Checking it Twice now as well.

Where did you get your blue seed packet sweatshirt? I love it! You always wear the cutest shirts in your videos🌻

Thank you so much Sarah!..I purchased it from a shop on Etsy. I have it linked in the description box below the video over on YouTube. If the items I’m wearing are still for sale, you’ll find them linked there.

I don’t have as much time to sew these days so instead of piecing the checked block in the middle of the flower in your Rain Check quilt, I bought black and white checked fabric for the centers of the flowers. Like you I’m using all different yellows and golds for the flower pedals.

It’s always wonderful to see quilts in different lines. They take on a different look!

Hey Friends!--I'd love to hear from you. =)
