Oh, Happy Day! Sampler Sew Along Week 4
It’s Best Loved day…meaning, our block today for the Oh, Happy Day! sampler sew along is the Best Loved block. =)
The Best Loved quilt hanging in my sewing room right now has all of the fall vibes and I’ve been loving seeing it hanging there this week. I am usually filming the video and making my block about a week ahead of when they come out so this quilt hanging in my studio has been such a fun sight for fall this week. Our leaves are in such a pretty state right now. They are turning colors beautifully and we haven’t had a rain storm to bring them all down (yet!). =)
Here is my block for the sampler using Buttercup & Slate fabrics…it’s a soft block in this palette as compared to the vibrancy of the quilt above! The fabrics in the quilt in case you missed seeing it in the book, are from Cider by Basic Gray…so perfect for right now!
Cutting and Piecing Instructions for today’s block:
Turn to page 19 in your Oh, Happy Day! book. Under the “Materials” section, cut the first 4 pieces listed under “gray print”. For the remaining pieces listed under “gray print”, I cut those from my white on white background fabric. They are the large white triangles around the edges of my block. Then, cut all of the pieces listed under “cream print’.
The written, piecing instructions can be found on page 16 in your book. In step 3, I pressed my seams away from the center when adding the triangles. You will trim this block down as instructed in step 3 and your block will measure 12 1/2″ square.
If you need any help with piecing the block today, be sure to stop by my video tutorial over on YouTube. Or if you just want to stop by and chat, come on over! =) Happy Sewing! Corey
