Round 4 Moda Block Heads, Block 24
Today, our block is brought to us by Vanessa Christenson…and it’s not the one in the picture above. =)
Vanessa’s block, Outtakes, can be found here.
I’ve had my eye on Bonus Block 8, Sweet Treats, because I love a little basket block so I decided to make that one instead for this week. Sweet Treats came out earlier this month but if you missed it, you can find it here.
The pattern includes a couple different ways to lay this block out which makes it a lot of fun to play around with. I also filmed a video sharing my recent Moda Block Heads blocks that you can catch here if you’d like to see/hear a bit more of them. The ones in the video are some of my favorites so far…I was so happy with all of them! I definitely have some favorites of the bunch. If I had this little basket block finished when I filmed the video, it might have been one of the favorites too…it turned out really cute. =)
I’ve been having so much fun playing with my Cozy Up fabrics. I knew that I was going to really enjoy working with them and even more so as we get nearer to fall. Only 4 more weeks of this round of Block Heads!
Cozy Up fabrics are still available in quilt shops so if you’re looking for a fun fall project, I know I’ve been loving them. =) I’ve been debating whether I need to make another Autumnal quilt?
This one was really fun to make in the all check version below…but it’d be so fun to make in the layer cake version above!…Autumnal was a free pattern I offered for this collection. You can find the PDF download in this blog post if you missed it last year.
It wasn’t a tricky quilt to piece and it’s so perfect for fall!
Have a wonderful Wednesday and happy Sewing! Corey

I adore your autumn quilt!!! Now I have a fall quilt to make. You are the best!! Thank you 😊 💓
I love seeing your Autumnal pattern in another color/fabric usage way. It always helps to see a pattern using yardage vs layer cakes for me. I have trouble picturing patterns in different fabrics than what the pattern shows and this was a game changer!! My mind is working like crazy thinking of what I have in my stash to do this – – and here I haven’t even finished my 1st cup of coffee!!! Wow, talk about jump starting my day!!!
Aloha Cory. Omg I also love me a little basket block!!!! What could be cuter? And your Cozy Up fabric is perfect for a basket quilt. And I love your Autumnal quilt with the pumpkins and especially the gingham pumpkins! What could be better than gingham pumpkins?! The fact that you used a couple of baskets and a little gingham is why I love your new charity quilt-a-long that you’re doing with the FQS next year.
I like your bonus block basket better!!!!
