So Many Fun Things to Share Today!
I am sharing so many fun things in today’s YouTube video.
First up, I am sharing today’s video from our brand new filming studio. If you’ve been watching for any length of time, you know this something we’ve been wanting to do. This not only gives us a wonderful space to film in, but it also clears out lights/cords/monitors/mics etc. from my sewing room which I am so thankful for! It’s been so nice to work in my sewing room without all of that in the way.
Plus, I also share a bit about the April $5 pattern of the month, Wheelhouse. You’ll find this pattern in my shop for $5 in both the Paper and PDF versions.
I made my original quilts using Lulu Lane fabric which has been out of print for a number of years. But, here is what it would look like in Sunwashed fabrics. First the print version (this version uses 15 fat eighths).
Or, here is what the two color version could look like using the navy x-print fabric from Sunwashed with a solid white:
The last thing I shared about in the video is about a project that I’ll be working on this summer that I’d love your help with. You can leave your suggestions over in the comments section of the video so everyone can see your recommendations. I’d appreciate your ideas over there!
Have a wonderful Wednesday! Corey
Hi Corey! What a WONDERFUL idea — donating quilts for women in need, in situations such as you’ve described, has been in my thoughts for a very long time, so I am all for this!!! One pattern I have not yet tried, but looks super fast and easy to put together, is Square Dance by Material Girl quilts, which uses a layer cake. There’s a free tutorial on the blog: https://materialgirlquilts.com/blog/2020/10/15/midsummer-meadow-square-dance-a-finished-quilt-and-free-patterni. I can’t wait to see what happens next with this!
Thank you so much for sharing that link!
You say it’s fat quarter friendly. I was wondering if you could use precuts instead.
This quilt uses fat eighths….pieces 9″ x 22″.
Yellow Brick Road is a quick one that I use a lot. Love your new recording studio. That cabinet is beautiful. 😊
Yellow Brick Road is a great one!…thank you for reminding me of it–I know I have that pattern tucked away somewhere!
One of my favorites for a quick and easy quilt using charm packs is a free pattern by Lella boutique. It is the Chandelier quilt pattern. Easily adaptable for many sizes, great for charm packs or as I did using up many scraps from other projects.
That is such a good one!
Well obviously the free shortcut quilt patterns from Fat Quarter Shop are all quick and easy, several that use layer cakes.

Supporting victims of human trafficking is very near and dear to my heart, being touch by this trauma myself at age 16. More people are impacted than most Americans realize and it’s something we need to talk about more so THANK YOU for stepping up and getting involved!
Sarah
I am so sorry Sarah. It’s such a problem!
Corey, Can the two color version be made with charm squares?
No, it requires yardage.
Corey,
FQS has many free quilt patterns that are fast and for layer cakes, jelly rolls, etc. Go to their free pattern section. Fabric Cafe – (3 yard quilts) books have patterns for quilts in the size you want. They have a list of quilts that are fast. They just put out a free quilt pattern yesterday. These are not so big that you can’t quilt them yourself. I make charity quilts for kids and take to local DHS office. When God lays it on your heart – you gotta do it. Sounds like a great charity project. Your new filing set looks great!!! I’m glad you got your sewing room back!!!
Thank you so much for those suggestions Delores! I wasn’t familiar with Fabric Cafe and they have some great patterns!
Dear Corey, Aquick easy quilt pattaern is called Autumn Blooms by Andy Knowlton of A Bright Corner. She recently posted this one.
Thank you Roxy!
Hi Corey, My favorite “go to” quick pattern is Pat Sloan’s “Oh My Stars” The pattern is free on her web site for the perfect size you were looking for. It also can be purchased in larger size options.
That looks like such a great charm pack pattern!
Hi Corey! Cheaper by the Half Dozen is a great one. 6 fat quarters and a border..
Thank you for this suggestion Barb!
I love your kind heart to help these women in need. Gudrun from gequiltdesigns.com has a bunch of fairly easy and fun patterns. Try Stella or a free pattern, Diana. Maybe Nina or Kimberly would be something to suit your style. I have made many of these patterns
Thank you so much for suggesting Gudrun’s patterns…she has a lot of great ones!
Can I contribute to your cause? I have a few tops that are not quilted that I would love to donate to your cause. I would be happy to send them to you.
Thank you so much for your kind offer Sherry!…you can email me at corianderquilts @ gmail.com (just take out the spaces).
