A Tale of Two Stacks

Pillow Winner Fabric Stack

I loved reading all of the entries for my pillow giveaway–Man are you guys creative!  There were so many entries that were just fantastic and it was hard to narrow it down to just one.  However, one entry really inspired me.  I have chosen the fabrics for the pillow–I “had” to order some of Tula Pink’s Prince Charming fabrics for this pillow and they just arrived today (Randi has super fast shipping–thanks Randi!!).  I paired up the prints that I ordered with other fabrics from my stash and came up with the cheery bundle above.  So, do these fabrics fit your entry?….Could the pillow be for you?…You’ll just have to wait and see! =)

I also pulled some fabrics for another tutorial that I plan to work on–I’m still tweaking it–I think it needs a bit more aqua?–and maybe some more grey to tone down the “Christmasy” feel.

An upcoming tutorial

Seeing it there on the computer screen it really does scream Christmas to me.

A little tip:  If you are ever unsure of how a stack of fabric mixes, take a picture and look at it on your computer screen–you get a different perspective that you don’t get when you see it in person.  I don’t know how many times I have snapped a picture of a stack of fabric and then changed things around after seeing it on the computer–it really does help to get that 2nd perspective. =)

I don’t think your second stack is toooooo Christmassy but adding frets and aquas as you mentioned would be rather lovely! Actually I noticed with the Bliss line that the greens and reds can make it look a little festive.

Still not sure at this stage who the pillow may be for! Like a dork I read all of the comments to see if I could figure it out but it seems it could be quite a number of people! Whoever it is will be one very lucky chook!!! This is really exciting to see your creative process!

Oops that was meant to be greys not frets! Silly iPhone auto correct. 🙂

I love both stacks but like many others I find it hard to pick colors. Who ever gets the pillow is going to be very lucky and very happy.

The Christmas stack is pretty, but that first stack of pinks, greens and pale blues has me drooling on the keyboard! 😉

  11. They are both beautiful and love the red stack combination.

I don’t think the bottom fabrics look too Christmasy at all! At least I hope it doesn’t because those are the colors I’ve used in my sewing room and my daughter used in her living room. I know that it “should” since it’s red and green, but it just doesn’t!

  15. You are so gracious with your time. I love both stacks, and to me the bottom one doesn’t say christmas but that is probably because i am doing a lot of redwork and am always looking at red and white. It is a lovely stack and i can hardly wait for the tutorial. which reminds me i need to finish block #5. all the rest are done. I have been thinking of using transfer ease. we shall see it it will be my second and last try. hope it was a good may for you, scarlette

  16. I LOVE the fabrics you’ll be using in your custom order pillow!! They are gorgeous….my favorites, in fact!!
The bottom stack doesn’t scream Christmas….but it could if you wanted it to! I’m sure if you mix in some more non-reds, you’ll get just what you’re looking for 🙂

  17. I looked at it again today and still no Christmasy (however we bow to your finer eye for this) and it is really cheerful. Btw, i tried looking through your 174 comments about the pillow last night – good grief Charlie Brown, 174 – and i know mine was on another day so probably more. well, i could eliminate some (in the first couple of dozen or so i read) because they weren’t the correct colors. the first comment said cheery and is the correct colors, but there were several others so lots of people are still in the guessing.

I’ve used the ‘take a picture’ idea too…..shows up beautifully, even with blocks, if you lay them out and take a picture and look through the screen, you can see if it looks good or needs a juggle around……digitals make life soooo much easier!!!
    sugary hugs
