Barn Star 16! & Sewcialites 3 Layout Pattern

It was a fun week of sewing together my Sewcialites blocks…and if you watch today’s YouTube video, you get to come along for the ride. It’s a very chatty, vlog-style video and I enjoyed popping into chat with you during snippets of my days. You can watch here.

I finally decided on the lay out that I wanted to use for my 6″ Sewcialites blocks, wrote up the pattern, and proceeded to get my quilt top sewn up.

I could not be happier with the way this lay out turned out. It perfectly highlights each block. I really like my Fruit Salad fabrics for this quilt. If you’d like to use this layout for your 6″ blocks (Sewcialites or otherwise), I’ve included a lay out pattern below. (The pattern is for the layout only, the individual block patterns I used can be found here.)

My Sewcialites 3 layout instructions.

Do you remember the little sneak peek I gave you a couple weeks ago of any upcoming Barn Star pattern?

I’m excited to share with you that Barn Star 16 is now officially my newest Barn Star pattern.

What a perfectly autumnal Barn Star! I used the following Moda Bella Solids: (Coral, Peach, Etchings Charcoal, Stone (not Etchings Stone…just Stone), and Coriander Seeds in the Vine & Berry print for the white 29140-11. The green was a scrap solid from my scrap bin.

David quilted Barn Star 16 using the Swirly Pumpkin quilting design.

Barn Star 16 can be purchased here.

Have a wonderful weekend! Corey

Love, love, love the Sewcialites 3 setting!! I’ve only been quilting for a couple of years, so my 3″ blocks are less than perfect, but I would definitely use this setting for a table runner. Thanks for the inspiration!

  9. Love this. Can’t wait to make it and hang it for fall.

Omg! So much fun in your video today! Thank you!!! I love how you finished Sewcialites 3. I am never caught up on the sew along projects. I actually finished my quilt top for Sewcialtites 3. I used your line Sunwashed and a few Fruit Salad found it’s way in the quilt. I used the setting from Sewcialites 2. I should have waited. Darn! I am definitely going to try to remember this setting. Beautiful! You are amazing! Of course, I like the pumpkin barn star.

LOVED the Sewcialites lay out style. Thank you for the added creativity! Your new Barn Star in great! Wish I was fast enough to make all of the Barn Stars you have created because I love them all but I just have so many, many projects that keep getting in the way! Thanks!

Hi, really enjoyed today’s video. I hope to get the barnstar pumpkin pattern and make a wall hanging! But also wonder if there is a kit? So it would be really similar to yours lol. I did the first Sewcialites and love your S/3 so beautiful.

Love the Sewsocialites layout and see ideas of how to do something similar in future projects. Thank you!! And Barn Star 16 will be fun to make. I like the way you’ve used the solids to make the plaid look so strong. The idea of having seasonal Barn Stars is right up my alley! I look forward to more of them.

The setting is really cool, and I love the idea of using a larger sashing in the same color! Perhaps you could use a fussy-cut design/cheater pattern in place of the Ohio star to give the same effect but be much easier?

  19. RJ Schott says:

Love this! Not sure I’m up to make such a tiny star, but it definitely makes a lovely quilt!

  20. Angela Mikeal says:

  21. Patty Taylor says:

Love love LOVE the sewcialite quilt top !!! I think a green binding would look good on it without the border. Love the barn star quilt!

  22. Susie H says:

That is a gorgeous layout you came up with for Socialites 3. It almost looks like bump-outs along the outside edges. Magnificent!!! Barn Star 16 is beautiful too.

    LOVE those itty-bitty star blocks!

  25. Kathy B says:

I absolutely love your layout! It actually makes me want to do a Sewcialities. Could this same layout be used with the 9″ blocks? I would need to find a pattern for larger sawtooth stars and make adjustments to the borders. Well done, Corey! And thank you for sharing!

  26. Bobby Jackson says:

The blue and white setting you have on the sewcialites block quilt is absolutely gorgeous!! I took a picture of it on my tv so I coukd remember how it looked!

Enjoy seeing your creations! Cannot find where you showed your Jelly Bars quilt using Joysome. What did you use for the backing?
