Blockheads Block #40 & A New Quilt Pattern

Good morning on another Moda Blockheads Wednesday.  We are in the final stretch with only 1 more block from each designer to go.

But first, I wanted to share with you a new pattern that I have designed exclusively for Fat Quarter Shop.  This is Sew Colorful Spools.

And it looks just as cute in prints (which is what I designed it for):

I designed the pattern to work well with the Sew Colorful Fat Quarter Club available through Fat Quarter Shop.  You can read more about the club here.

And here’s a little peek of the January bundle.  Each month is a different color, January is cream…February is going to be pink.

Of course, you can purchase the pattern and use all fabrics from your stash to make the quilt if you’d like to!–It is a wonderful stashbuster.  Each month is a different color, so just pull those colors from your stash.

I plan to start with the Sew Colorful monthly bundle and then add a few of my own stash fabrics to really personalize my quilt.

Some of the monthly bundle fabrics are on the left and some of my additions are on the right.

The pattern includes 4 different size options.  I am making the size on the cover which means I’ll be making 3 spool blocks each month.  If you’d like to quilt along, purchase the pattern and follow along!  My blocks and Kimberly’s blocks will be posted on the Fat Quarter Shop blog around the 20th of each month.  It’ll be a great way to end up with a quilt by the beginning of next year and use up some stash fabric.

You can read more about the Sew Colorful Fat Quarter Club and my Sew Colorful Spools pattern in this blog post.

If you have any questions–just ask down in the comments. =)

And now on to this week’s Blockheads block, brought to us by Lynne Hagmeier.

This is Ribbon Star and it is a 6″ block.  From really big last week to small again this week!  You can find the pattern for Ribbon Star on Lynne’s blog.

For My block, I used fabrics from Strawberry Jam (out in March), Sunnyside Up, Lulu Lane, and Sundrops.

What line is the fabric you’re going to be using that has the alphabets on it? I love those on the right.

Corey – I bought your new spools pattern from FQS a couple of weeks ago – I love all things spools! Going to use my own fabrics (maybe lights and brights or maybe even my vast stash of 1800s repros – they’re feeling kind of left out these daysI think). Going to be a fun one! And thanks again for the weekly coloring pages – so helpful.

Hey Friends!--I'd love to hear from you. =)
