Heart-Warming Quilt

Happy Wednesday from a very chilly Ohio!  It seems our beautiful fall weather has moved out very quickly and we have snowflakes in the forecast this week and (unfortunately) had snow over the weekend too!  I am not ready for cold weather just yet.  I think the older I get, the more I’d like to hang onto those sunny days!

Today, I have a quick video to share about my Heart-Warming quilt.  This quilt was originally in the August 2022 issue of American Patchwork & Quilting.  I see that it is still available here and there and there (and in other online shops with a quick google search) so I wanted to share about it before the magazine became harder to find.  You might even still be able to grab a copy in your local quilt shops.  I always have good luck finding them in my local grocery stores!

I designed Heart-Warming for my book Oh, Happy Day! but we ran out of space and had to cut two of the quilts.  This was one of the quilts we decided not to include.  If you have a copy of my book, you know that each quilt fits into a different category for why a quilt might make you happy.  The category for this one was “fabrics you’ve been hanging onto”.  It’s so fun to make a project using the fabric you’ve been just waiting to find the perfect project for.

Heart-Warming is a fat quarter friendly quilt and I made mine using Nest fabrics by Lella Boutique.  The border on the quilt is Bloomington.  If you were to make this quilt now and wanted a similar look, I would suggest Country Rose fabrics also by Lella Boutique.

I will probably release this as an individual pattern in the future but for right now, the pattern is only available in the magazine.  I would love to make the cover quilt using a scrappy mix of my fabrics!

If you’d like to hear a bit more about Heart-Warming, see the quilt up close, take a peek at the backing/binding/quilting, be sure to stop by my video today. =)

Have a wonderful Wednesday! Corey

It is a little chilly here in California too, nothing like you are having .. oh how I wish. I say grab your favorite quilt and a cup of hot happiness, for me it is an eggnog latte, and snuggle in with a good old movie.

It’s very cold and snowy here in NW Pennsylvania as well, and I was just telling my hubby yesterday that I’m not ready for winter. I do love the beauty of the white snow in the trees, but I miss sunny skies and warmth! Anyhow, I absolutely love this quilt and I’m so glad you’ve shared it! I will have to snatch up that magazine to get the pattern. I wish that Nest was still in print – it was adorable – but, Country Rose is beautiful too 😊 Have a happy weekend and stay warm! ❄️

Im waiting for my magazine, love this quilt. I’m also now curious what the other quilt is that didn’t make the cut for the book. All those decisions must be so tough.

Corey, I absolutely love the Heart-Warming quilt and purchased the digital version of the magazine issue just for the pattern! As always, sewing quilts from your patterns is an enjoyable experience. Quick question…is there a coloring page/b&w design page for this pattern? I looked throughout the magazine and did not see a link for a coloring page file. It is quite possible I’m overlooking the obvious, but if you or any of your readers are aware of such a file, would you mind responding? Thanks!

Hey Friends!--I'd love to hear from you. =)
