December $5 Pattern of the Month

Can you believe that it is the first day of December?  My goodness this fall seems to have zipped right on by and here we are with just a few weeks left until Christmas.

I have a few shop updates to share with you today.  First off, Summer Weekend, is the December $5 pattern of the month.  The pattern is available in my Etsy shop in both Paper & PDF formats.

I shared a video today on YouTube chatting a bit more about just this quilt.

You can find the video here.

My sample is made using Sunwashed fabrics which will be coming out in early 2023.  I also wanted to show you what the quilt would look like in some other fabric collections as well as a different background color.  Here is what it could look like in Beautiful Day fabrics using a white background.

And here is Buttercup & Slate with a white background:

As well as a dark background:

The Sunwashed version at the top of the post is also the Moda Kit quilt for the Sunwashed collection.  If you are planning on waiting and purchasing the kit, the pattern is included in the boxed kit.

I added a couple other fun books to my shop this week that I had talked about in one of my recent videos.  These two books immediately caught my eye when they came out and I had to have both of them.  The first one is Simple Double-Dipped Quilts by Kim Diehl:

I love everything that Kim designs and there are so many pretty quilt patterns in this book.  The Maple Leaf one is especially pretty to me but as I looked through the book, I really like a lot of them!  You can find Simple Double-Dipped Quilts in my shop here.

The other book that caught my eye this fall is 57 Buttermilk Acres by Stacy West.

This book is not a quilt book but rather a home decorating type book.  I love antique shops, flea markets, and thrifting and Stacy has such a great eye for mixing those found items into your home.  The pictures and ideas throughout the book are so pretty!

You can find 57 Buttermilk Acres in my shop here.

I don’t think I’ve ever purchased other author’s books to share in my Etsy shop but these two were too pretty not to!

We have another Sewcialites block releasing tomorrow so I’ll be back to share mine.  And then we have the second week of finishing instructions for the Oh, Happy Day! sampler quilt coming out on Saturday.  Have a wonderful Thursday! Corey

I love all you patterns and of course your fabric lines are superb! They just hit home for me This summer weekend pattern looks s no exception in loving your patterns- however I generally prefer a white quilt background and this is the first pattern I ever have preferred a colored dark background. The depth of the dark solid color just seems to really make the stars pop and give the illusion that they are floating (to me anyhow lol). Thank you for your monthly patterns for $5. So kind !

It’s always really interesting to see how different the background color plays into the finished quilt. Those dark backgrounds can really make the colors pop!…plus it allows us to play a bit more with the lighter colors in the line that wouldn’t show up as nicely against a lighter background.
