Heartfelt Charity Quilt Along

Announcing the Heartfelt Charity Quilt Along

Happy Monday friends!–I am excited to be sharing more details about the Heartfelt Charity quilt along coming up in 2022.

This year, 2021, it was such an honor to participate in and to have my Spring Brook collection featured in the 2021 Make a Wish charity quilt along sponsored by Fat Quarter Shop and benefitting Make a Wish.  Many of you participated in this quilt along and it was a lot of fun to share my block progress, sew along with all of you, and then donate my Serendipity quilt to be auctioned.

For the 2022 quilt along, Heartfelt, not only is my brand new fabric collection, Beautiful Day, being featured; but I was so excited to be able to design the quilt for all of you.

Beautiful Day Fabrics

The 2022 Heartfelt quilt along will kick off in February and a new block pattern will be released the first Friday of each month through September.

The way the fundraiser works is that Fat Quarter Shop will offer the Heartfelt patterns as FREE downloads during the event for a suggested donation of $5 each to the Make-A-Wish Central & South Texas campaign. Or feel free to make a larger, one-time donation of $50. No amount is too small and every bit counts.

I had so much fun designing a heartwarming collection of heart blocks for this quilt.  They are so much fun to make and my Beautiful Day collection with all of the reds, pinks, greens, and grays is the perfect collection for this quilt along.  The background fabric is one of my favorites from the entire Beautiful Day collection.

Fat Quarter Shop is offering kits to make the Heartfelt quilt if you’d like to make one using Beautiful Day.  They are also offering a backing kit which features a super sized version of one of the blocks.

If you prefer a 108″ wide backing rather than piecing your backing, the gray floral fabric framing that star is available as a 108″ wide fabric.  It’s also available in red or dark gray–all three would be beautiful backing options if you don’t want to piece the backing.

Of course there will be a cross stitch along just like with the Serendipity quilt along for all of you cross stitchers.  You can reserve your threads and some cute accessories if you’d like to stitch along.

If you want to participate in the sew along but prefer to use different fabrics, the yardage requirements will be released January 14 or when the Make a Wish fundraiser reaches $20,000–whichever comes first.  You can keep an eye on the fundraiser or make a donation here.  As of the typing of this post it is at just under $5,000.

You can visit the Fat Quarter Shop blog for more details about the sew along, some helpful tools you might like to have on hand, as well as which blocks release on which days next year.

I am excited to sew along once again with all of you!  I need to decide on the fabrics for my quilt.  I would really like to use Beautiful Day as I adore that quilt but would like to choose something different so when it’s auctioned off it’s different.  I’m learning towards a scrappy low volume background–different for all of the blocks and maybe all peachy/pinks for the color?

Or, stick with low volume scrappy background and use grays with just a hint of pinks.  That would be so much fun too.  What do you think?  Or do you think a different one of my lines would be fun to see?

I also wanted to let you know that for the rest of this month (can you believe it’s almost November!), my Blossomville pattern is $5 in my Etsy Shop.  Make sure to snag it this week before it goes back up to regular price next week. =)  PS…you can click the little white arrow on the photo below to see more pictures of Blossomville.

I also like the combination of the peach and grays that you are considering for your quilt. Thank you for sharing your creative talents with all of us.
