Beautiful Day Fabrics

I hope you are having a wonderful day!–as I am typing this, the pretty fall sun is shining in the windows and my trees are still about halfway covered with beautiful fall leaves.  My Japanese Maple trees are putting on quite a show!

We had our first snow of the season over the weekend–probably about an inch of snow or so.  Those first snows on top of the still green grass always look a little bit funny I think.  I am hoping that our weather forecast is accurate and as you are reading this post (if you are reading it on the day it comes out) we will be headed into a warm 60+ degree day….fingers crossed!

I have been wanting to share more with all of you about my upcoming fabric line for Moda Fabrics, Beautiful Day.  Would you believe that Beautiful Day is my 15th line of fabric?….if you had told me that I would get to have the fun of designing for Moda for so many years, I never would have believed you!

Beautiful Day is a rose filled line of fabric in pretty reds, pinks, greens, and grays.  Here is my write-up for the Moda catalog about Beautiful Day:

I love everything about a cottage rose garden – the sights and smells, the beautiful colors, and the weathered cottage in the background. The chipped white paint of the cottage reveals soft grays underneath, a beautiful backdrop for the pinks and reds of the garden mixing with dark green foliage. Beautiful Day was inspired by that image, by those colors.

Imagine stepping into the garden to hear birds happily chirping, and being surrounded by the sweet fragrance of roses. Sit in the garden, or outside the cottage, and enjoy this feast for your senses.

Beautiful Day brings this rose garden into your home with bouquets of pink and red roses in every size. There are prints inspired by plants, a touch of gingham, and a few polka dots. The weathered grays are the perfect finishing touch.

This collection includes a panel that is beautiful on its own as a whole -cloth quilt, or use the blocks in quilts, bags, aprons, pillows and more. No matter how you choose to use this collection, I hope you have a Beautiful Day!

And it is full of all of those things!…it is such a fun collection and has been just a delight to work with.  I especially love the grays in this collection:

I’ve designed several new quilt patterns which I’ll be sharing with you hopefully in a few days.  I am determined to check some things off of my to do list!  Today, I wanted to share with you some of the blocks from my new patterns so you can see the fabrics a bit more.

The blocks in the photo below are from two of the new patterns (Star Twist on the left and Rosebud Waltz on the right).  The red/white block at the bottom is from the new panel (the red colorway) in Beautiful Day.  I love the way the two panels turned out.  If you were a fan of the Apricot & Ash panels, you will love these too.  They are so much fun to use in so many ways!

Here’s a better peek at the Star Twist Block:

Any Ohio State fans?…these colors are such a fun, feminine spin on the Scarlet & Gray.  And here’s another shot of the Rosebud Waltz block:

You also get a look at some of the darker grays in this line.  The Moda Bella Solid that matches these grays is Etchings Slate.  This reminds me that I need to do a little solid/basics round up for this collection.  Keep an eye out for that to come soon!  The Rosebud Waltz block is a great pattern to really showcase the prints in Beautiful Day.

Up next is a block from my Picket Fence Cottages quilt pattern:

Picket Fence Cottages is especially pretty once the sashing is added in between the blocks.

Because this collection is so full of flowers, I knew I wanted to design a new flower quilt…it seems I like to do those every few collections!

This is my Blossomville quilt block:

And those reds and pinks are so perfect for Valentine’s Day!…or take the reds and greens and use them for Christmas. =)

I can’t wait to show you the blocks made into quilts. =)  There is a beautiful boxed kit, along with panel quilts, and pieced quilts, a new free quilt pattern, and so many fun new things.

Beautiful Day fabrics should be shipping to quilt shops in January.  Of course that could be pushed back so we’ll say early 2022.

I want to keep getting my to do list whittled down so I’ll be back very soon with new quilt pattern info.  But if you’d like an early peek, you can visit my Etsy shop to see the new patterns.  And/or take advantage of my $5 pattern of the month, Wheelhouse:

Wheelhouse is my $5 pattern of the month for November, 2021. You will find it for sale here.

Thank you for reading! Corey
