Beautiful Day Mystery BOM Quilt Reveal!

Tiggs was very happy to help take photos of my completed Beautiful Day Mystery quilt.  He’s so funny when he comes strolling around when we have a quilt outside.

Without further ado, here is our completed quilt!

As you can see, Tiggs thought this might be a great time for hide behind the quilt. =)

I kept the finishing on this quilt simple, opting for sashing & cornerstones.  It really keeps the focus on the blocks and lets those pretty centers shine.

I opted for a soft gray border.  I often choose something with more contrast but I really liked the softness this quieter border brings to the quilt.  The striped binding is the perfect finish.  For the backing, I used the 108″ wide of the same fabric I used on the border.

Kaylene Parry (@quilterlove66 on IG) beautifully quilted this one using the Mackintosh Rose quilting design.

You can find the finishing instructions to complete the quilt here.

If you have been following along over on my YouTube channel and are making a runner as I did over there,

You will find the runner finishing instructions here.

I have also filmed a new video over on my channel that you can find here. Come on over and chat!

I’ve really enjoyed sewing up this quilt with all of you.  I have another fun quilt along in the works featuring my Oh, Happy Day! book.  We’ll be kicking off that quilt along once Buttercup & Slate fabrics hit quilt shops.

I’ll be sharing the fabric requirements for this quilt along very soon so keep an eye out.  And yes, there will be video tutorials for each block just like with the Beautiful Day Mystery BOM. =)

Thank you so much for sewing along and I hope you have a Beautiful Day! =) Corey

P.S.  If you’ve missed any of the Beautiful Day block instructions, you can find them all listed at the top of this post.

I’ve never used a panel before. This has been such a fun challenge and adventure! The blocks are SEW big and I can’t imagine how big this will be once I get it all assembled. Thanks for all the great vides and tips…I definitely learned a couple of things along the way. Your Buttercup & Slate collection is absolutely STUNNING!!! I cannot wait to get ahold of it. I’m not sure what I’m going to make yet, but I KNOW I’ll find something!

I was hoping that a sew along using the panel would help take some of the unknown out of using a panel. There are many people who are new to panels and they can be so much fun to use! And thank you so much for watching along with the videos…I thought it was so much fun sharing that way (p.s. I answered your questions over there about the wide backing =) And I can’t wait for Buttercup & Slate to hit quilt shops…it’s so fun when it’s finally available!

  9. Sandi Silvestri says:

WOW, Corey, your quilt is just stunning. Now I’m even more energized to get caught up on my partially finished so I can start Beautiful Day☺️ When I bought the fabric for Beautiful Day, I got the soft color for the borders, when the wide backs came out, the soft color was gone in a snap. So I got the soft red and also bought fabric for the borders in the same color. Then I got the dark gray for Heartfelt backing. I’m so looking forward to Buttercup & Slate, already have my FQ bundle preordered. TIGGS is so sweet, love to see his pictures.

    • Corey says:

The red will be very pretty for the borders/backing! And that dark gray works so well for Heartfelt. It’ll be so fun when Buttercup & Slate comes out–and I can’t wait for that quilt along. =)

  10. The panel quilt came out beautifully, I need to get busy with mine. I cannot wait to get my fq bundle of Buttercup & Slate and am excited for that sal.

    • Corey says:

Thank you!–I often choose something darker for more contrast when I am choosing a border but I thought the light gray added such a nice softness.
