Beautiful Day Mystery Quilt Along Block 5: Gather Round

It’s here!…the last block in our Beautiful Day Mystery BOM.

Gather Round is the 5th block in this sew along.  If you’ve missed any of the previous posts in this quilt along, you can find them here:

And just as in the previous months, I’ve released a block tutorial video.

Let’s take a closer look at the blocks.  This one with the red border is my favorite of the bunch.  I can just imagine making a whole quilt of this combo.  It would make a wonderful Christmas quilt!

In the YouTube video, I shared my favorite way to make QST/Hourglass blocks.  It keeps them nice and tidy with no fuss to piece.

I also shared my least favorite way to trim up these blocks…there is one way that I am just not as accurate at utilizing!

Next month is the last month in this quilt along!…I can hardly believe that we are nearing the end. =)  I will be sharing the finishing instructions for both the quilt and the table runner (I’ve been sharing the table runner blocks using Apricot & Ash over on YouTube).

I hope you have fun making your Gather Round blocks!

Finishing Instructions: July 16, 2022

Thank you so much for sewing along!  Have a wonderful day! Corey

Oh! I like this block a lot!! If this is the last block we’ll have blocks from the panel leftover, correct? If so, maybe I’ll whip up a table runner or pillow shams with those. Thank you so much for all your beautiful fabrics!!! ❤️❤️❤️

I have enjoyed this project so much. It has been at a nice pace so easy to keep up. I love the look of applique on the panels. I am not that proficient at applique but really admire the quilters who can so now I have a quilt with some applique. Over Memorial Day weekend I got your gingham quilt top sewn up. It was such a fun and easy project with the red applique panels. My LAQ lady has some beautiful quilts awaiting her!! Thank you for this fun project.

Hey I love your mystery quilt blocks! But also today I watched your tutorial. Would you mind me asking where you got your cute quilt t shirt that you wore in the tutorial? The white one with the small quilt blocks in front? So cute!

Thank you for sharing your talent. I have really enjoyed sewing these blocks and look forward to them each month. I have a panel from sunnyside up that I am thinking of using to make another quilt like this.

  14. Teresa Aikens says:

Thank you. These blocks are beautiful, as is the fabric. This has me so excited for retirement.

  15. Cindy says:

Love your beautiful day fabric. Can we starch the panel?
Sorry if this has been asked already.

  16. Corey, I came upon this QAL late in the game (just as you released block 5 haha) but I’m sew excited to say I was still able to find a panel for sale on ETSY! Yay, I can join in. I’ve collected all the PDFs for this and hope to start the blocks before you release the finishing instructions next week but I’m also doing BH4 and 3 other QALs as well as a temperature quilt and learning how to use my new HandiQuliter. But I love having ideas on how to work with a panel from the panel designer! Makes such a difference and your block ideas are so sew pretty!

Thank you so much for offering this free QAL.
