July 2022 WIPs & UFOs

It’s time for another WIPs & UFOs update. =)

This has been such a fun series over on YouTube.  It’s always so much fun chatting with you over there and hearing about your progress from the previous month as well as your plans for the current month.

In the video, I shared about my crazy June and what I got done and didn’t get done as well as my plans for the rest of this month.

If you’d like to watch, you can find the video here.

I’ll be back on Saturday with the another video and blog post about the Beautiful Day Mystery BOM…I can’t believe that we are finishing that one up! Corey

  1. My list has changed about what I can reasonably get done. I kind of passed out and woke up with a compound fracture and my leg broken in 3 places! My sewing room is downstairs so I went down on my bottom and showed my husband a few things to bring upstairs for me to work on. I was blessed that when I contacted a friend who hand quilted and she came over and gave me a quick lesson on hand quilting and brought the right kind of needles. I had already sewn a flag but it needed quilting and the Featherweight couldn’t quilt it for me so (I do not have a walking foot attachment) I hand quilted it. I have the binding left to put on it. I hope to get it on the front door this week.

What a terrible experience. I hope you heal quickly! You should have the hand quilting down by the time you’re mobile!

    • Corey says:

Oh no!…Goodness what an experience! Hand quilting is such a great project to be undertaking while your leg heals back up!

    • Sandi Silvestri says:

Oh, WOW, I guess that would change what you can get done.my wishes for a speedy recovery. Take care.

June was crazy busy…end of school, Alaska mission trip and then vacation to PA in early July. I’m behind on the Beautiful Day BOM; hoping to catch up in the next few days. Your June weather was crazy!!

June was so crazy here!…I’m thankful that July has been less so! An Alaska mission trip sounds so fun. And what part of PA will you be visiting?…is it a quilt shop visiting trip? =)

I don’t like the new blog format. It’s like going through the mailbox tossing out the junk mail. I stopped following a few designers because they use this same format. Too many distractions and advertisements. I absolutely lover your fabric and patterns but would hate to stop following your blog because of the junk thrown in my face to read it.

    • Corey says:

Actually, I’m not as much of a fan of it myself. =) I’ve been blogging for just over 13 years now and I put it off for a long time! I hate having to look at things from a financial point of view…it’s more fun just to chat and sew! But it is one way that I can contribute to my family without having to raise my prices on my patterns or charge anyone anything extra. I can continue offering free block of the months etc. I do appreciate the feedback–it’s not a decision I made lightly & I might need to consider if it would be better to offer paid block of the months or raise my pattern prices. I understand if you need to stop following along–there are blogs that I don’t visit as often because I don’t like the format. =)

Hi Corey, since there is a discussion on the new blog format, I’m going to throw in my 2 cents, and that’s all it’s worth ☺️ I absolutely understand why you changed the format. I’m a former small business owner, and every bit helps the bottom line. Because we all have so much fun, it’s easy to forget this is a business. But the high rate of inflation is a factor to be considered. For me personally, I would not object to paying for patterns and projects. I find that the ads make it somewhat difficult to zero in on the blog content. Regardless of what you decide, I’m a Corey Yoder fan, and I’ll continue to follow your blog.

Thank you so much for commenting Sandi!–I always look forward to hearing from you. =) I agree, the ads are not my favorite either. I really like being able to offer free content as I know that everyone’s bottom line is getting tighter. It’s something I’m mulling over for sure!

June was crazy and July has started the same way, but I did make a point to complete a couple UFOs last month. They were small and not what I’d hope to finish but I did something and I’m going to be happy about that. 🙂 I’ve set goals for July and still have high hopes to reach those; BUT, you and other designers keep introducing new fabrics, quilts, and projects and I keep getting distracted. hahahaha
    Thanks for all YOU do!

    • Corey says:

At the beginning of the summer, I thought that things were going fast. They seem to have sped up even more! I think it’s great to have some goals in place but not stress if they don’t get met. And I am just as guilty of getting distracted by new pretties as everyone else!

Corey, Like on Facebook I just scroll past ads I don’t care for. So on your new blog post I do the same. I sure would not like to give up the free BOM Etc. you offer just to see no ads. When it come to a business’s financial needs etc. we all need to be more understanding and kind. I so appreciate all you do. It can’t be easy to find that balance. Sooo I for one don’t mind one little bit what you need to do to keep your business growing. KEEP THE ADS so we can keep enjoying all the free content you offer. You are Awesome!!!

    • Corey says:

I appreciate your comment Julie–thank you for weighing in!…I really do like being able to offer the free content–I know things are tight for so many. I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t love the ads, but it does allow for free content which I do love! =)

Hey Friends!--I'd love to hear from you. =)
