It’s a Swell Giveaway! =)

*Comments Closed*
As promised…a fun giveaway for all you fabulous peeps(ok, so maybe that is a little bit too trendy of a work for me).  I’ve got a bit of a crappy week coming up so, I thought maybe someone’s elses week could be brightened up a bit as mine is going down the crapper on Wednesday.  Ok, I admit that might be a bit melodramatic–it’s just a couple of wisdom teeth, right…tell, me it’s no big deal.
Anyhoo, enough about that business…let’s talk giveaway.  Are you all familiar with Urban Chiks–they design for Moda and they have a wonderful collection coming out this fall…Dream On.  Isn’t it fab?

Well, every fabric collection they design is just fantastic and I am giving away a bit of their Swell line of fabric.  It’s been out of print for awhile now and can be a bit hard to track down.  I have included at least a little bit of each print in this collection in varying strip widths/lengths–I think this would make a perfect ticker tape quilt.
Giveaway details–To enter(up to 3 times):
1.  Just leave me a comment–tell me only nerds still have their wisdom teeth
2.  Become a follower or let me know you already are
3.  Blog about my giveaway
I’ll leave the giveaway open until Saturday, July 17th and draw the winner on Sunday.
And there you have it!  Thanks so much guys for reading my blog and leaving me comments every now and then.  You all have really brightened up my days and I have met so many incredibly talented people through the world of blogging.  Many thanks!! =)

Ouch! I had impacted wisdom teeth removed when I was 19 (my first spring break during college, I know how to party!) and they undid all the teenage braces' work before they came out. Trust me, you'll be happier with them gone! And don't let everyone tell you their horror stories… that'll just scare the bejeezus out of you πŸ™‚

  2. Jennifer says:

    I follow you πŸ™‚

  3. jules says:

I am a giant nerd, but I don't have my wisdom teeth. πŸ™‚ I hope all goes well for you.

  4. kylydia says:

I only had to have one wisdom tooth out, and it wasn't any harder than a regular tooth. I hope yours goes smoothly!

  5. shelia says:

Only nerdy & mean people still have their wisdom teeth! (they are the same people who wear their "old-size 2" jeans home from the hospital after giving birth) There– that should make you feel better πŸ™‚

I'm a big baby at the dentist…i'll send up some prayers!

  6. shelia says:

    I'm a follower too!

  7. Jennie says:

I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled at the same time. It wasn't exactly easy peasy, but I was glad it was done and I never have to have it done again!

GREAT giveaway- thanks for the chance to win!

  8. Nova says:

big hug for Wednesday – been there done that with 2 of my wisdom teeth and it was all ok – close your eyes and dream of fabric πŸ˜‰
    xxx

  9. Jorie says:

Shelia's comment made me giggle! I had all four of my wisdom teeth taken out at the same time about 5 years ago. It wasn't so bad, I got to lounge in bed for a few days, eating lots of applesauce and ice cream. Once I got past that, it was milk and oreos for awhile πŸ˜‰

It's worth it if they are impacted, or causing any kind of pain or complications. I waited too long, and they had already pushed all my other teeth together!

  10. Jorie says:

    I am already a follower πŸ™‚

  11. Lula Dahl says:

Only nerds still have their wisdom teeth. πŸ˜‰ Don't worry, I had all 4 of mine removed at once, 2 were impacted. Yeah, it wasn't really fun, but I survived and I don't really remember being in pain, just uncomfortable! It's a great excuse to sleep when you shouldn't and eat ice cream for dinner. ;)Good luck!

I have bits & pieces of my wisdom teeth so what does that make me? πŸ™‚

  14. Molly says:

Only nerds have their wisdom teeth! πŸ™‚ But for serious, it'll be better once they're out. Plus, it's a great excuse to eat some ice cream!

Only nerds still have their wisdom teeth :o)
My hubby also has all his wisdom teeth, although I don't know if I'd go so far as to call him a genius. Although, he is pretty darn cool! I love Urban Chicks, and I'm following you now too, so I think that gets me two entries, yay!
I'm so glad I stumbled in, I'm on my way back to go read thru your other posts as well. Have a great day and don't be afraid about Wednesday, it's not that bad, I promise… Just make them give you lots of pain killer.

  22. traceyjay says:

    I'm a total nerd…

I got one of my wisdom teeth pulled in Taiwan for $5 (yes, you read that right). My body only made 3 total — the other 2 I had done state-side, but I was awake. Even though the doc yelled "God Dang It!" during the procedure (not lying again), I was fine.

I'd get my wisdom teeth taken out once/year if it meant I'd never have to have another c-section. That was much harder on me…I was awake for it too.

  23. traceyjay says:

Of course I follow you! πŸ™‚

  24. Wendz says:

    I'm also a follower πŸ™‚

  25. Ashley says:

Good luck with your wisdom teeth. I had mine out a couple years ago and was nervous and unhappy about having to go through it. In all honesty, it wasn't that bad. I think I made myself believe it was going to be so terrible that it seemed fine when it actually happened. Hope its not too bad for you either!

  26. Ashley says:

    And I follow you.

  27. Wendz says:

Had all my wisdom teeth removed at the same time about 27 years ago. Good luck with your op.

  29. Jeni says:

What a yummy giveaway! Never fear, it isn't too bad! Mine were a little worse than normal because I had a minor allergic reaction to the steroid but you'll be fine! The day I got them out we went to mcdonalds and bought 4 or 5 soft serve cones but got them in a cup. This was all I ate for the first day or so. It felt so good since it's soft. I highly recommend it! (it's technically frozen yogurt so it's not too bad for you :D) Good luck!

  30. Greta says:

I just had my wisdom teeth pulled last year. I have a huge fear of the dentist so I just never go. It really isn't a big deal. I did eat some of those uncrustable pb&j now before you think I'm totally lazy if you don't let the thaw all the way the cold peanut butter actually feels really good on your gums. Ask for the gas and you won't even feel it. If I can do it anyone can do it. Oh and you already know I'm a follower πŸ™‚

I lost a wisdom after the birth of each of my 2 children. Lucky for me, I didn't have any lower ones! And maybe smart of me to stop after 2 kids! Anyway, mine were like having any tooth pulled-but they sure left a big hole!

  36. Mary Carole says:

That's right, only nerds have their wisdom teeth! I had my removed forever ago so does that mean I'm WAY cool? No really, I'm still a nerd…

Anywho, thank you so much for this super awesome giveaway. I would LOVE to win those strips of loveliness!

And just so you know, my husband had his wisdom teeth removed a few years ago and he did fine which says a lot because he can be a BIG baby! Best wishes for you!

  38. Candi says:

I didn't get my wisdome teeth out until I was 30! Then I had to get 4 more teeth pulled so I could get braces. Yep – I had 8 teeth pulled in a month, it wasn't fun, but then again that's what the drugs are for!

  39. Candi says:

I'm a follower too – have been for a while! Good luck!!!

  40. Valerie says:

Are you getting that wonderful sedative stuff before they take them out? Versed – I had 2 badly impacted wisdom teeth, I'm told it was awful but I remember none of it. That's my kind of dentistry!

  41. webmailaddress2 says:

Aw, good luck with your procedure. Do they knock you out for it? I incidentally found a cavity in one of my lower molars while looking in my mouth one day and had it filled on New Years Eve last year before I had to go back to school. It was not fun, but at least there's an excuse to eat lots of ice cream!

  42. webmailaddress2 says:

I'm glad I found your blog through your giveaway post on flickr! Now a follower via google reader πŸ™‚

  43. Bea says:

I'm sure its true that only nerds still have their wisdom teeth. I never had mine to start, but I totally feel for you. Hopefully it won't be as bad as imagined.

  44. Hopeful Homemaker says:

Good luck with your wisdom teeth. I had to have mine out a few years ago, and the dentist told me all this stuff about how likely I was to never be able to smile again because I was – gasp – 30 years old. I was so stressed, but it was fine. They were sore, but it wasn't a big deal. I'm sure you'll do well.

I love this line of fabric, still have a charm pack that I've never used. Thanks for your cute blog! It's one of my favorites.

  45. bellaandmolly says:

I had mine out when I was 30. No big deal!!! I swear!

  48. Nic Wood says:

Im a follower, and would love to go in to the draw for this gorgoeus fabric – it would perfect for the scrap quilts Im loving right now. Try not to stress about your teeth – I had all four of mine out at once, and it wasnt too bad! Just remember to rest for a few days afterwards – from experience – thinking you feel alright and that cleaning the house will be fine results in lots of avoidable swelling LOL

  49. mersky says:

Not sure about the connection between nerds and wisdom teeth, but wish you luck! Had one out myself and it was no biggie, so hopefully it will be the same for you! And yes, I'm a follower.

  52. Lindsey says:

I still have all four of my wisdom teeth. Does that make me a nerd? I thought it made me very wise (or else I just have a big mouth!).

  53. Lindsey says:

I follow your blog via Google Reader.

  54. Jeannette says:

Today they remove them in record time and painlessly too. My son recently had all 4 removed in 12 minutes with no sedation! He was back on track sooner than 24hrs too. So maybe yours will go as nicely, fingers crossed. Good luck!
Thanks for the giveaway…I so want to win it.

  55. bldrnrpdx says:

Had all four done over two visits, two of them were impacted, neither event was nearly as bad as the gum grafts I've had done because my gums erode at some fantastic rate, leaving the roots of my teeth exposed and unsupported. They take some skin from the roof of your mouth and essentially superglue it over the exposed roots. I've had three of these visits so far, not exactly looking forward to more…

(will the sympathy vote win me the fabric? πŸ˜‰

  56. Jenny says:

I was scheduled to have my wisdom teeth removed when I was nursing my 10-month old. So right before they sedated me, I said, "Uh, by the way…I'm nursing a 6-month old." To which they said, so sorry. You can't be sedated. We'll just have to give you the regular local and pull them out. Yikes. But it didn't actually hurt. I'll be thinking about you…

  71. Barb says:

Ouch…take care with those wisdom teeth. I had all of mine out on the day of my last exam in my first semester of University. That was traumatic because I couldn't celebrate surviving the term because I was swollen up like a chipmunk. But I went to the party anyway! Thanks so much for the chance to win.

Sending you good thoughts on Wednesday….with them gone, you'll feel soooo much better! I had all 4 of mine taken out in my late 20s and I was afraid I have to admit…but it went fine, no major swelling….it was really just a pain in the butt eating for a little while, but all was good!! Thank you for this giveaway…I'm a big fan of the Swell line and would love to make my baby on the way, a little quilt:)

Don't worry. It'll be okay. I had 2 of mine removed at 38. Just a bit of swelling and bruising and mild discomfort. And I HATE going to the dentist. You'll be fine.
Thanks for the chance at the giveaway.

  156. Karen says:

Good luck with the teeth extraction thing. I find it ironic that they are the last teeth you get but are the first to be pulled out. I am lucky and still have all of mine. I am very thankful to my Mum for great teeth genes. And what a fab giveaway you are having. Such yummy fabrics.

  157. Karen says:

I am now 'officially' a follower, i just had you in my Google Reader before.

  168. Jona says:

Well, a couple of weeks ago, I would have told you that there is no way I am giving away my wisdom teeth. I got them removed about two weeks ago and I didn't feel a thing? Okay, so there were only two of them and after that I didn't eat for a day and I did cool my face with ice for about two hours after I got the surgery. But other then that, it never hurt!

  169. Jona says:

Oh, and I follow you via my Google Reader πŸ™‚

  175. Miranda says:

Pretty fabrics!! Good luck! πŸ™‚ I had my wisdom teeth out a few months ago during the school holidays and it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be and I got to sleep the majority of the day, watch movies and eat ice-cream! However, my advice is keep the ice packs on because they make a huge difference. I think I used the icepacks for nearly a week (even when the swelling had gone down) and as a result had hardly any bruising and the swelling went away fast too. My friend who had them out at the same time, hardly used the icepacks and was very blue πŸ™ My only other suggestion is keep up the pain killers- although you may feel fine, when they start to wear off its not so fun (may have been because I had all 4 out though) and enjoy the fact that you can eat lots of ice-cream and jelly!! Hope it goes well, you'll be fine:)

  176. Miranda says:

    I am also a follower πŸ™‚ Thanks!

  177. Dandelion Quilts says:

  194. Meg says:

    PS–I'm already a follower.

  195. peaknits says:

omg, it was karma I stopped in today – I just saw the dentist today and she suggested at 39(!) I have my wisdom teeth out, because I have a little cavity next to one – what?! No, I don't think so – just fill that little cavity please. So I can feel your anxiety – good luck!

  196. peaknits says:

I am also a follower – and I'll be following to see how everything goes, so help me decide if I should stop being a nerd, and give up my wisdoms teeth too!:)

  197. Annette says:

I absolutely HATE going to the dentist.
He pulled my wisdom tooth about a year and a half ago, and it took him 10 seconds. It was no big deal. I am so glad I got that one taken out, it was always trouble!

    and I follow πŸ™‚

  205. Mego says:

OK…ONLY NERDS HAVE THEIR WISDOM TEETH LEFT! I had mine out my first year in college and looked like a CHIMPMUNK for a week! Congratulations on still HAVING them!

  206. by Daisy says:

ahahaha telling our story about the wisdom teeth is just about the most original way to participate in a giveaway!
i still have my 4 wisdom teeth. sometimes one of them starts to give me some signs of wanting to pop out and i get all worried about how much money it will cost me (once i did the math, taking into consideration the equivalent currency, it was around 300 dollars PER EACH, and I usually pay like 75 dollars for a medics appointment so the difference is really huge).
also, everyone starts telling me horrible stories of when they had their own wisdom teeth removed and it scares me even more than the money…

  207. Pam says:

I'm new here. Take the drugs, you'll be ok. I love your website.

    Take care,
    Pam

I still have my wisdom teeth…and I hear about it every time I visit my dentist. They are amazed!

  212. Relish says:

You are a braver nerd than I. I have only two wisdom teeth – have no idea where the other two are – but I'm too chicken to get them out… Perhaps I'm a fool rather than a nerd as I'm happier facing them coming up and going down every six or so months rather than having to be knocked out… Good luck Wednesday xx

  213. tropicslady says:

My wisdom teeth never came through…they are just sitting up there somewhere! And I KNOW I'm a nerd! Love the Dream On fabric and just snagged some – can't wait for it to arrive! Hope the dentist visit went well yesterday for you…

  214. Theresa says:

Oh dear….what am I? I was born with just one wisdom tooth and it's not going anywhere! Funny thing is that my son asked me what a nerd was today and my daughter said…'mum is a nerd'. I was kinda pleased! Love your blog!

  215. So Bella says:

I'm a nerd with no wisdom teeth, lol! It feels so much better once they are out, and really it wasn't as bad as I had thought and I worked myself up for nothing! Best wishes πŸ™‚

  216. Grace says:

Getting your wisdom teeth out is not so bad. I had to have all of them out at the same time. It just took a little time of only eating things like ice cream and yogurt. Thanks for a great giveaway.

  217. Flyover Girl says:

Even nerds are too cool to still have their wisdom teeth! Stock up on cold treats, stay hydrated and take your pain medicine on time. It'll be a piece of cake (ice cream cake):)
